Lyra found herself slowly consumed by the same feeling she had that night, when she and Cassian had broken every barrier between them.
The memory of his gentle touch, the way he made her feel seen and loved in a way she never imagined, lingered in her mind. But then, suddenly, he had stopped. And just like that, everything had gone back to normal.
Reality crashed between them as he stepped away, leaving her in complete shambles.
"You owe me your life, Lyra," Cassian said coldly. "And as for setting you free...that's for me to decide."
His demeaning words left her stunned.
"Also, don't forget that you are my personal maid."
Cassian looked away, ignoring the disbelief in her eyes, and turned his back to her.
"Ask Penny to move your belongings to my chamber. From this day on, you are staying with me," he added, his tone final. Without waiting for her response, he strode toward the bathing area.
