Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: The Birth of the Super Wand

Chapter 98: The Birth of the Super Wand

After finishing the rock cakes at Hagrid's hut, George returned to the castle, as he had classes in the afternoon.

However, as soon as he entered the castle's main hall, he was intercepted by a dwarf. The dwarf shoved a stack of Valentine's Day cards into George's hands and began playing a tune on his harp.

This quickly drew a crowd of curious students, including some of the witches who had written the cards.

George didn't rush away, as that would only prompt the dwarf to chase after him, making the situation even more awkward.

Instead, he stood there holding the stack of cards, listening politely to the dwarf's performance, and then smiled:

"Thank you all for your affection. I will carefully read each and every card when I get back."

He collected the cards and calmly walked out of the crowd.

However, during the commotion, he noticed a seventh-year witch looking at him with an unusual expression, which left him momentarily stunned.

Did she also write me a card?

Counting the cards, he had received at least thirty. Even if every first-year witch had sent him a card, it wouldn't add up to that many.

So there must have been witches from other grades who had written to him as well.

While he could understand cards from second or third years, a seventh-year? That was pushing it—there was a six- or seven-year age gap.

This reminded him of the "Peanut Butter Teacher" from Shameless. Hmm, it did have a certain charm.

On his way to class, he also saw Harry being harassed by a dwarf and Malfoy snatching Harry's Valentine's card to read it aloud in front of everyone.

In the end, Harry used the Disarming Charm to reclaim his card.

The Disarming Charm, as its name suggests, isn't limited to disarming weapons. Its primary function is to forcibly knock objects out of an enemy's hands, often sending the enemy flying as well.

So whether the target is holding a wand, a sword, a rocket launcher, a tissue, or a cup of tea, the result is the same—everything gets knocked away.

Ignoring the minor drama, George headed to the Transfiguration classroom, as he had two consecutive Transfiguration classes in the afternoon.

"Today, we will be discussing Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration..."

Professor McGonagall lectured with her usual stern demeanor, and George took diligent notes.

Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration was one of the fundamental principles of Transfiguration in this world, essential knowledge for anyone studying the subject.

In essence, Transfiguration cannot create food out of thin air, nor can it permanently sustain transformations. For example, turning a table into a pig would revert once the magic dissipated.

Transfiguration cannot transform magical objects, alter quantities, or create something from nothing.

"Why is it so powerful?"

While George was engrossed in the lecture, he suddenly stopped writing, his face lighting up with excitement.

His counterpart in the Fairy Tail world had just made a significant discovery.

"Sectumsempra!"

Standing in the woods behind the guild, George cast the Sectumsempra Curse using his newly crafted wand.

A transparent blade over a meter long shot out from the wand, cleanly slicing through a large tree. The power of the spell was more than ten times stronger than when he had cast it in the Harry Potter world.

Even George himself was stunned by the result.

"Natsu's hair is this powerful?"

Previously, he had made a wand using his own cat fur as the core, but the effect was only slightly better than his main body's wand.

Later, he acquired hair from a powerful magical creature within the guild and crafted a second wand. This one was noticeably better, surpassing even his wand in the Harry Potter world.

Then, just a couple of days ago, Natsu, Lucy, and Happy returned to the guild after completing a book-retrieval mission. George secretly plucked a strand of Natsu's hair and used it to create a third wand.

The result was the incredible display he had just witnessed—the new wand boosted his magic power by more than tenfold, making it a super wand.

He suspected that even the Elder Wand from the Harry Potter world couldn't match this level of power.

All three wands had the same wood, purchased from a magic shop. The only difference was the core. Natsu's hair clearly outperformed the magical creature's hair by a significant margin.

"Could it be that Dragon Slayers have a physique close to that of dragons? But even if that's the case, this effect is way too good."

Holding the new wand, George couldn't help but marvel once more.

"It seems I'll need to find a way to become a Dragon Slayer in the future."

If he could become a Dragon Slayer, his main body and other counterparts would also gain the same Dragon Slayer physique through their shared abilities. This would allow him to use his own hair to create super wands.

Even if he created new counterparts in other worlds, he wouldn't have to worry about wand issues.

The key was that, since he spent most of his time at the guild and didn't take on missions, he had overheard some useful information, including how to become a Dragon Slayer.

Not all Dragon Slayers had to be raised by dragons from a young age, like Natsu.

For example, Laxus Dreyar, the grandson of Guild Master Makarov and one of the guild's S-Class mages, had a different origin.

According to Mirajane, Laxus had been sickly as a child. His father had implanted a Lightning Dragon Lacrima into his body, turning him into a powerful Lightning Dragon Slayer.

Therefore, as long as he could obtain a Dragon Lacrima made from a dragon's heart and implant it into his body, he could also become a Dragon Slayer—or, more accurately, a Dragon Slayer Cat, given his current feline form.

The only problem was that Dragon Lacrimas were extremely rare. They weren't available on the market and were considered priceless treasures. Without a stroke of luck, it was nearly impossible to find one.

For a cat like George, who spent most of his time lounging around the guild, the chances were even slimmer.

So if he wanted to find a Dragon Lacrima, he would need to venture out more in the future.

"Never mind, I'll think about it later. For now, I should focus on finding a better wand core."

Dragon Lacrimas were hard to come by, but a better wand core was more attainable. He could already tell that the current wand core didn't do justice to the super wand's potential.

With a better core, the wand's power could reach even greater heights.

"Incendio!"

Waving his wand, George tested another spell.

What was once a small flame used for lighting fires now erupted into a massive pillar of fire.

He then experimented with dozens of other spells and noticed that the wand seemed to enhance fire, curses, and dark magic more than other types of spells.

For example, curses like Sectumsempra and fire spells like Incendio saw a twelvefold increase in power, while spells like the Undetectable Extension Charm and the Repairing Charm only saw a ninefold boost.

Natsu was a Fire Dragon Slayer, so the enhanced fire spells made sense. But why the significant boost to curses and dark magic was a bit puzzling.

Then again, it didn't really matter. After all, it wasn't a disadvantage.
