And to make matters worse. A heavy pressure began descending on the room. As she looked at them, she could see the space around them getting distorted.
"Oh, no"
The hair on her body began to rise...
Dan and the shadow creature were in a deadlock, neither moving, but stared at each other. Dan's one tail swayed from side to side. While the demon had fumes that came off it's body.
Any second now Dan new the door would be open. And such a sight would not be something he wanted her to see.
I need to find a way to take this outside
Dan looked at the distance between him and the demon.
It's not that much. I should be able to close that distance easily. My stat has risen.
All this thoughts happened within seconds.
Dan immediately bolted for the creature, the air around him pulsed because of his movements.
As he came to touch the demon, it easily evaded Dan by sinking back into the shadows but Dan had anticipated this though.
Come on just....yes Dan thought As he noticed the demon resurfacing from the shadows.
With Dan's fast reaction he was able to serve and turn back. His hand grabbing on to the demons arm.
The demon seeing this dove back again into the shadows again and this time Dan followed him through it.
They were now enclosed in the word of shadows. Everything here was lightless and was just made darkness and shadows.
This was a risk Dan was willing as he didn't want any collateral damage. It was kind of a one way trip.
The kind of trip he will go for and never return from.
Now he was in the world of the shadows. Everything here was different. The shadow world seemed to be an inverted form of the world. Where everything was replicated but it was just inverted.
"You are not cunny little fox but you are quite bold to come into my domain. I would like to ask why?"
Just as they stood in the realm of shadows, in the real world the door to the apartment got opened and in came the young girl. She was in her school uniform as usual and held some groceries.
She walked into the house and stood for a second. She didn't immediately call out to her grandma, but she looked around the house. As if she was in search of something. After a while she then headed toward the open window to shut it, before she called out to her grandma.
"Huh" Dan sighed as he saw this.
"Oh, I see. So you care about them, so that's why you offered yourself to me, just to protect some lowly mortals. I thought all Foxes we cunning. So, what happened?"
Dan didn't reply but those words pricked his heart. Those words were dripping with venom.
"It doesn't matter I would enjoy eating up your soul and then I'll savor theirs"
With those words it moved and rushed towards Dan.
Not cunning? I'll show you not cunning. Dan's face became grim under the mask.
The demon was too fast that Dan's eyes couldn't really keep up with him. He was able to only catch glimpses of it because of his Spirit Sight which allowed him to see divine spiritual entities.
But even with it, Dan found it hard to keep up with the demons movement.
The demon then popped up behind Dan. It fist flew toward Dan.
Dan with quick movements was immediately able to turn and put his hands against face to stop the incoming blow.
Boom!!!
The blow caused the shadows to reverberate and Dan was sent back. But he was still on his two feet.
"Ahh, your still standing? Most have really underestimated you. I think I need to up this a notch"
Within Dan's hand, the place where the punch had landed seemed to be burning. At a point it had turned kind of numb.
He really packs quite a punch. Anymore and bits of me would be scattered in this shadow realm.
"Yeah, you should. I had really expected more from something that is quite old and has gathered enough soul within it. Does that mean when you consume my soul it won't be put to good use? What a shame"
The demon just stared at Dan.
The shadow realm was thick with silence.
"Haha" the demon's laughter reverberated through the shadow realm.
"I understand what your trying to do there little fox. It seems all your cunning hasn't actually gone. So let me show you what years of experience looks like"
The shadows started swirling and surrounding the demon. It's aura immediately spiked up. An overwhelming presence blossomed.
The features of the demon became more defined. The demon had it's muscles defined and kind of chiseled. The darkness around it deepened. The shadows swirled around its hand to later form a long blade.
Though it had a kind of human appearance, its face was different. It looked more of a beast than that of human. It had fur around its face and it's face glowed red.
Though the demon was far from Dan, the pressure it exuded was pressing down heavily on Dan crushing him in the process.
Probably I should have kept my mouth shut...or not even taken this task even. Damn the gods and their favor.
Dan then found himself smiling as he watched the scene before him.
It won't really be sad to be a demon slayer though. I may even later up my rank and become a god slayer. But before that, let's make this one bleed first. Dan thought as a crooked smile was fully formed on his face.
"Come get me"
