Jake couldn't believe his eyes after seeing the books in front of him.
"Dude, I didn't know they had some interesting books here. Is this mine to read? Can I read it now?"
Jake immediately open the books and give it a scan.
"You liked it?"
"Certainly dude. I mean, I love to get stronger, but, learning books wasn't so bad after all."
"Right, I will leave you into it."
Aziel then heads to where Rocky was after giving the books to Jake.
He saw Rocky in one of the library's study table.
The table that Rocky was using is full of books that it made him hard to see.
"Yow dude, how can you read these many books? And where can I sit?"
Aziel whispers to Rocky whose busy reading.
"Just find a suitable spot there man. And tell me already, what is it that you want to discuss after explaining what kind of power you have cast onto us, because it's limiting my ability to read."
Rocky eyed Aziel as the book on his hand fell to the table.
"See? Even holding a book is hard."
"Alright. Just chill out man."
Aziel sat beside him and starts to explain everything after casting a spell that could stop their voice from going across the room. This way they can talk normally.
Rocky felt something was casted but he couldn't figure out what magic it is.
"So, you could feel that as well?"
Aziel was amazed by how sensitive to magic Rocky was.
"Yeah. Is that you?"
"Yes but you have nothing to worry about, it's just a magic trick I learned from that old man. It's a magic that could manipulate the sound around us, so whatever you do, your voice can't be heard outside of my magic range."
"Dude, that's sick! I can read loudly whenever you cast that magic. Who's this old man?"
"That's not important right now. Anyways, I will tell you a story about an ancient scroll that holds ancient magic."
Rocky's eyes went wide and he almost fell from his chair.
"Dude! When did you experienced all these things, and how do you know all these knowledge? You're like an old hermit inside a young man's body."
Rocky shouted but immediately covers his mouth, fearing that anyone might heard him, but so far no one is yelling at them yet.
"It was a year ago when this power was given unto me through a magic scroll. I need to understand the writings on the scroll to master that power. To answer your question, this power is call the gravity manipulation magic. Because of this magic, I can lighten up heavy objects and vice versa, that among other things."
Rocky's jaw fell in shock.
"Now, what I want to discuss is that…"
"WAIT! Hold on dude! Let me process all the information first before moving onto another topic!"
Rocky exclaimed.
"So you're saying, other than manipulating sound, fire, earth, can do healing and light magic. You can manipulate gravity as well? Dude, you have more surprises present in your body than the surprise itself. I can't believe, I end up having a powerful friend. How do you even learn everything?"
Rocky shakes his head in disbelief.
"It's called photographic memory."
Aziel winks at Rocky.
"That's not true! And photographic memory doesn't work like that!"
Rocky smacks Aziel's head.
"I'm sorry man, I thought I could get away with it, hehe."
Aziel playfully rubs his itching head.
"So, how did you learn everything? What's the secret formula?"
"I'm sorry man, it's a trade secret. How about this, if you manage to decipher the words inscribed at the monolith, I might tell you another story."
"You know how to Segway your topics huh, sly hermit."
Aziel laughed at the words of Rocky, but purposely raised the gravity's intensity by a bit which Rocky felt.
"Dude, I was just joking you could stop it now."
"I didn't do anything."
Aziel playfully whistles while facing the other direction.
"Whatever man. Anyways, about the monolith, I manage to decipher a few words more." Rocky nonchalantly brags to Aziel.
"What? How? I mean, didn't I made it smaller? Which means the words also shrunk, so how did you manage to decipher the words?"
Rocky, with a smug look on his face get his notes from his small pocket and show it to Aziel.
"So far these are the only words that I managed to decipher from the monolith. But before you read this sentence, I want you to know that I am not one hundred percent sure about it."
Rocky hands his notes to Aziel.
"THE RULER OF THE UNIVERSE WAS BETRAYED BY THE GODS."
Aziel couldn't believe the words but he wasn't surprised by it.
"Is this everything?"
"Yes, I haven't decipher the whole article but I'm still working on it. It looks like you're expecting this because you aren't surprise even a bit."
Rocky saw an intense look on Aziel's eyes instead of shock.
"I already had a hint, so it didn't surprise me, but I still couldn't believe it though. This information is huge and can put our lives in danger if a single word comes out, so I want this to be between you and me for now."
"Yes, even if I say anything to anyone, what can they possibly do against the gods?"
"I trust you Rocky. Okay, I will leave you for now because I need to read books myself and clear my thoughts."
Aziel left Rocky and lifts the sound manipulation magic.
Rocky didn't dare make a sound as he felt Aziel's magic being lifted.
Aziel was looking for martial arts books that has weapons wielding knowledge. He needs to learn how to use weapons like swords, daggers, and he also needs to learn hand-to-hand combat.
He's doing these not just for his friends but also for himself as he didn't know what the future could bring in his life. Being prepared is everything for him ever since he was a kid.
Aziel found his book and starts reading it.
Jake, Rocky, and Aziel were now reading books seriously. They were so indulge in reading and didn't noticed the time.
A few hours later and their stomach simultaneously growled.
Immediately they stood up and gathered in Jake's location.
"Damn. What time is it, I feel so hungry already man."
Jake stood from his seat while rubbing his belly from hunger.
"Let's go grab dinner, and train magic after."
"Yes! That's what I'm talking about!"
Jake was the first to leave the library and went to the cafeteria. Rocky followed him behind, running.
"I can't believe they manage to last the whole afternoon while their core was activated, and on top of that, they can move normally under my gravity magic. They're getting stronger rapidly."
Aziel shakes his head in disbelief but suddenly his face turned serious when he remembers the phrase from the monolith.
"I will definitely get to the bottom of this."
