Moss wasn't afraid of Kurata's threat. Even if the space-time barrier was shattered, Yggdrasil was still there.
According to the original storyline, Yggdrasil was fully capable of repairing the space-time barrier.
Besides, would Kurata really dare to break it? Of course not!
No matter what, Moss had no reason to fear his threats.
"Angewomon, do you think I was too ruthless?"
Moss didn't care what the world thought of her—but she couldn't disregard Angewomon's view. They were two hearts in one body.
"Not at all," Angewomon replied.
She wasn't just trying to comfort Moss. She genuinely didn't feel anything wrong. Though kind by nature, Angewomon wouldn't hesitate in the face of a truly irredeemable enemy.
After thinking for a moment, she added, "If it had just been me facing that threat, I probably wouldn't have dared to do anything to Kurata. But you solved a huge problem for us."
[Magnadramon: 13%]
Moss glanced at the stat panel and muttered, "Oh? The evolution chance into Magnadramon went up by 10 percent."
Angewomon said, "It's likely because we eliminated Belphemon and Kurata—evil forces. That proves even more that we're on the right path."
Moss smiled softly.
Still, just defeating Belphemon and Kurata only increased the evolution chance by 10%? Would she have to eliminate 18 more villains to reach 100%?
Would low-level thugs count? If so, it wouldn't be that hard…
Especially on this land called America.
"Receive magic: Venusmon's Soul!"
After resting for a while and recovering some of her magic, she once again channeled Venusmon's soul. With a gentle smile and warm tone, she returned to the camera and said, "Thank you, everyone! Your power has safeguarded our future of light!"
People all over the world cheered as they saw Belphemon wiped out with a single arrow through the livestream. Defeating such a powerful enemy together fostered a shared sense of camaraderie.
Kurata's death made the peace conference run even more smoothly.
Moss continued, "From now on, let's all work together to make the world a better place."
"Ohhh!"
"Yes, Lady Angewomon!"
"Lady Angewomon is the best!"
"Lady Angewomon is number one!"
"Lady Angewomon, we adore you!"
Those whose DigiSoul had been ignited were undeniably the future of humanity—the truly passionate hearts. The future belonged to them.
Moss looked forward to the years to come.
Maybe one day the human and Digital Worlds could create a Pokémon-style ecosystem, inspired by Digimon's own essence.
As she thought of this, she asked the broadcast team to turn off the cameras. Then she released the transformation spell, recovering her strength as she gazed westward.
A few minutes later, a red dot appeared.
Sleipmon.
"Is it over already?"
When Sleipmon saw Belphemon's DigiEgg, he was utterly stunned. He hadn't expected Angewomon to defeat Belphemon.
Belphemon was one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, an immensely powerful being. Even for a Royal Knight like him, it would require a serious fight.
Angewomon...
How many more surprises do you have waiting for me? Sleipmon thought.
Moss gave him a soft smile. "Thank you for coming. It meant a lot to me."
Originally, Moss had only hoped to borrow DigiSoul from New York to stall for time. She never imagined she'd gather energy from around the globe and one-shot Belphemon. It ended up making Sleipmon's trip feel unnecessary.
Otherwise, Sleipmon would've been the real trump card to defeat Belphemon.
Sleipmon replied with a calm smile, "It's fine. I'm just glad you're safe."
He picked up Belphemon's DigiEgg. As a Demon Lord, Belphemon's egg couldn't be casually returned to the Digital World. It had to be sealed away in a hidden location to prevent a future resurrection.
Moss asked curiously, "Why not destroy it completely? Like the Gizmon—you'd think Yggdrasil could do that."
Sleipmon replied, "It's possible to destroy this DigiEgg. But the power of the Sloth Demon Lord wouldn't vanish—it would just transfer to another similar entity, and bring disaster again."
Moss nodded in realization. "So, you keep this Demon Lord DigiEgg in place to occupy the Sloth Lord's role—preventing a new one from emerging."
Basically, a "seat warmer."
Crude metaphor—but accurate.
"That's exactly it. I'll be off now," Sleipmon said, lifting the DigiEgg as he prepared to take off.
Moss suddenly called out, "Wait, one more thing."
"What is it?" Sleipmon paused in mid-air.
Now what?
"It's a proposal."
Moss raised a finger. "We should establish several fixed portals between the Digital and Human Worlds—and have Royal Knights patrol the space-time barrier. That way, if someone tries to use a space-time shock bomb again, it'll be detected immediately."
Then a thought struck her: "By the way, do you Royal Knights… get paid?"
Sleipmon stood a little straighter. "We fight for the honor and justice of the Royal Knights."
So… no salary.
Moss had been planning to ask Yggdrasil for a reward, but seeing that even Royal Knights didn't get paid, she dropped the idea. "Anyway, that's my proposal."
"I'll inform Yggdrasil of your suggestion," Sleipmon nodded. Seeing there were no further issues, he soared into the sky and soon vanished from view.
Moss returned to the peace summit hall, handling post-battle affairs and giving a few more speeches.
"I owe my success today to the appointment I received from Yggdrasil—the god of the Digital World, who is full of compassion…"
[Holy Angewomon: 3%]
After the speech, her evolution chance toward Holy Angewomon increased slightly.
According to lore, Holy Angewomon represents divine love and compassion.
Although "god" here likely referred to something other than Yggdrasil, it still symbolized a deity of the Digital World.
And honestly, it wasn't a lie—Yggdrasil was compassionate.
In the original story, even after Kurata slaughtered countless Digimon, including many at the Ultimate level, Yggdrasil still sought peace until the space-time barrier was destroyed and the worlds were about to collide. Only then did Yggdrasil lose patience.
In Moss's view, Yggdrasil was too compassionate—too tolerant.
It waited far too long before acting out of anger.
Really, if Yggdrasil had exploded the moment Kurata first began slaughtering Digimon—if it had made humanity see the true power of the Digital World—peace might've come far sooner.
It didn't act when it should have, then overreacted when it did.
"Yggdrasil is unfit to be the god of the Digital World. Perhaps someone else should take Its place…"
That thought suddenly crossed Moss's mind.
But she quickly cast it aside.
Subjectively, she didn't want to be the Digital World's god. Objectively, she couldn't beat Yggdrasil anyway.
Better to focus on her own Ultimate evolution path.
There were four viable paths for her: Lilymon, Magnadramon, Holy Angewomon, and Venusmon.
She'd already received Venusmon's soul—no need to boost that further.
"So, the way to increase Lilymon's evolution chance is close-combat; for Magnadramon, it's defeating evil; and for Holy Angewomon, it's spreading love and compassion."
These were the methods Moss had currently discovered—not the only ones, but ones she could rely on.
