Chapter 85 - Cell’s Doom Has Arrived!

In the first parallel world of Dragon Ball, also known as the main timeline.

Age 785.

It was a bright and clear day.

"Good morning to everyone around the world!"

Suddenly, a green-skinned monster appeared on live television. Though he had a handsome face, his body was covered in insect-like armor.

Cell!

This bio-engineered lifeform from the future had traveled to the past using a time machine, then spent over three years incubating and hiding in the shadows. Finally, through a twist of fate, he absorbed Android 17 and Android 18, becoming Perfect Cell.

"Now, I'd like to borrow a little of your time…"

Cell spoke with a calm, gentlemanly tone.

Of course, he wasn't a gentleman. He was simply brimming with confidence—so much so that he saw no need to act fierce. He believed everything was well within his control.

He killed the original news anchor and the guards who tried to stop him, then nonchalantly continued his announcement: "I have some good news for those of you who've been living in peace."

Meanwhile, somewhere on Earth—

A brand new time machine stood tall, beside it two figures: a winged angel and a one-armed man.

Moss and Future Gohan.

They looked up at the giant screen above the street, which was supposed to be airing the morning news—but now showed Cell's broadcast.

On screen, Cell continued, "My name is Cell. Perhaps you've heard about the recent incident where many humans were wiped out by a monster. That monster evolved—into me. And I'd like to express my deepest thanks."

After hatching, Cell had needed to absorb the life force of humans to grow strong enough to subdue and absorb the androids.

People around the world watching the broadcast felt a chill down their spines.

This was a monster that ate people!

"But worry not," Cell continued, "I no longer need life energy. Now for the good news: on May 26th at noon, nine days from now, I'll be holding a martial arts tournament—the Cell Games—at the following location…"

He then announced the time, place, and rules of the Cell Games on TV, inviting as many challengers as possible.

Moss shook her head with a smile. "For all that talking, none of it matters except the time and place. Once the fight starts, there are no rules."

Future Gohan nodded in agreement. "Exactly. This isn't a tournament—it's just Cell's game."

Moss found a button on the side of the time machine and tapped it.

Poof~The time machine was enveloped in smoke. When it cleared, it had transformed into a capsule no bigger than a bottle of herbal tonic.

Moss floated it toward Gohan using her powers and tossed it to him.

She no longer needed the time machine, but Future Gohan still required it to return to his own time.

He caught the capsule and quietly slipped it into a pouch on his waist.

"What's your plan?" Moss asked.

"Go take out Cell," Future Gohan answered.

Moss wasn't surprised. "I'll strike first. Unless I call 'Gohan, help me,' just stay back and watch."

"…Got it." Gohan broke a sweat.

Sure, part of him had wanted to support Moss. But the phrase "Gohan, help me" felt kind of dramatic.

Still, if that's what Moss wanted, he would respect it.

"Let's go."

The two of them took off into the sky, heading toward the Cell Games arena.

Meanwhile, people all over the world were panicking over Cell's announcement. The Z Fighters of this timeline had gathered at Kami's Lookout.

There stood Future Trunks from the second parallel world, as well as Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Tien, and Mr. Popo.

Goku and Gohan had just exited the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and Trunks was updating them on the situation.

"A martial arts tournament, huh? That's a pretty interesting idea!" Goku chuckled, nostalgic.

"Interesting?!" Piccolo and Trunks looked dumbfounded.

The whole world was in panic, yet Goku found it "fun"?

Vegeta narrowed his eyes at Goku's relaxed posture and asked, "Kakarot, do you really think you can beat Cell?"

Goku smiled. "Not sure. I've never seen Perfect Cell before. Let's go take a look."

He raised his right hand, index and middle fingers pressed to his forehead, preparing to Instant Transmission to Cell's energy signature.

"…Huh?" Goku suddenly paused.

"What is it?" Piccolo asked.

"There are two more ki signatures near Cell. One of them is… Gohan's."

Everyone blinked in confusion.

"Me?" said Kid Gohan.

Piccolo immediately turned toward the Cell Games arena and used Clairvoyance.

Having merged with Kami, Piccolo now possessed some of his divine abilities—such as far-seeing.

"…Yeah. That guy really does look like an adult Gohan… but he's missing an arm."

"What?!" Future Trunks gasped.

Everyone looked at Trunks, wondering why he reacted so strongly.

He didn't care how he looked—his voice shook. "In my world, Gohan lost an arm during a battle with the androids…"

"So he's a Gohan from the future?" Piccolo theorized.

As a keen thinker, especially after merging with Kami and gaining access to his memories and knowledge, Piccolo quickly put it together.

"Let's go meet him," Goku said with a grin.

He gathered Kid Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Vegeta, and Tien, then Instant Transmissioned to Future Gohan's location.

"Dad." Future Gohan greeted him calmly.

"So it is Gohan!" Goku looked at him, awed by his deep and tranquil ki. "Your energy is so calm!"

Future Gohan gave a soft smile—Mystic Form was like that.

Then he noticed Trunks among the group, assuming he was the version from his world. "Trunks, you came too?"

"Gohan…" Trunks's eyes welled with tears.

Vegeta frowned at his son's tearful look but said nothing.

"Huh?" Future Gohan was confused.

Why was Trunks crying?

Piccolo explained, "You're not from the same world. In Trunks's timeline, you're already dead."

"I see."

Future Gohan understood now. He pointed to Cell on the arena stage. "I'm from the world where that Cell appeared."

Piccolo's expression shifted. "You should be dead in that timeline. Trunks too—he was killed by Cell."

Future Gohan nodded. "Yes. Everyone died… But Moss revived us."

He pointed toward Moss, who was also on the stage.

"That girl?"

Everyone focused, sensing her ki—it was far weaker than any of them. How could someone like that challenge Cell?

Bravery, perhaps.

Future Gohan then glanced at his younger self—Kid Gohan—now a full-powered Super Saiyan. He smiled wistfully. "Super Saiyan Full Power, huh? You're amazing. I was nowhere near your level at your age."

Kid Gohan blushed. "Thanks."

On the arena stage—

Cell had overheard the conversation below. He turned to Moss, smiling. "You're from my timeline."

Moss replied calmly, "Remember me? After you ambushed Trunks… If not, that'd be boring."

And misleading—she wanted revenge on the right guy.

"Oh, you." Cell recalled the incident. He gauged her ki and sneered, "To survive my blast with that level of power… impressive."

Moss smiled faintly. "As long as you remember."

Cell chuckled. "So, you survived and didn't run? You even followed me here?"

Moss said, "How else can I return the favor?"

"You? Against me? Don't make me laugh." Cell sneered.

"Cell," Moss said, raising her hands, right palm flat under her left, thumbs forming a diamond, "you're Perfect now, right? Got the guts to take one of my blasts head-on?"

"That's…" Tien recognized the pose instantly.

Though slightly modified, it was unmistakably the Kikoho (Tri-Beam)!

Cell saw it too—and he remembered how much trouble it gave him yesterday.

But yesterday was yesterday.

Today, he was Perfect Cell.

Piccolo wiped his brow and asked Future Gohan nervously, "Can she really do this?"

"Moss fights differently than us." Gohan was tense, but alert—ready to jump in.

Cell scoffed. "You think a mere Kikoho can beat me?"

"Come on. Show me everything you've got."

He motioned her forward, determined to avenge yesterday's humiliation.

Back then, he wasn't even Perfect yet—and he'd been hit from behind.

Now he was Perfect, and facing her directly.

What could go wrong?

Moss smirked. She locked onto Cell and immediately drew energy from the Great Demon Seal.

Her ki exploded—skyrocketing!

Overwhelming!

The Z Fighters were shocked.

Cell's face twisted. "No—!"

"Kikoho!"

Moss channeled the energy into her palms and launched the Tri-Beam in an instant—unstoppable, devastating, precise.
