The car pulls up in front of Aiden's house, gravel crunching beneath the tires. The moment Jackson kills the engine, a strange silence blankets the air.
There's no comforting hum of Chloe's music playing inside. No soft chatter. No smell of whatever weird concoction she's tried baking this time.
Nothing.
It's... too quiet.
Aiden steps out first, his brows already furrowed. Jackson follows right after, but it's Lucian who pauses, eyes narrowing on the front door swinging slightly in the breeze.
"Did we leave that open? Or did she open?" he asks, voice low, sharp.
No one answers.
Jackson doesn't wait.
His body goes rigid as he breaks into a run, crashing through the half-open door. The moment he's inside, a loud crack echoes, the sound of something glass crunching under his boots.
Lucian and Aiden follow right behind, but Jackson is already shouting.
