"Later, it'll be ready for you to move in right away. Thanks, Mom."
Just as Yang Mo finished speaking, his phone rang. Glancing at the screen, he saw the caller ID: Lynn Ying.
Lynn Ying was his third sister, a renowned medical director who had achieved great success at the young age of 24. She was considered a genius in her field. However, despite her impressive accomplishments, Yang Mo didn't have a deep impression of her.
Among all the siblings, Lynn Ying spent the least time at home, completely focused on her career. When Yang Mo first returned to the Lynn family, she had been kind to him. But as time passed, and under the instigation of Lynn Kuan, her attitude gradually shifted. Eventually, she became just like the rest of the Lynn family—indifferent and dismissive.
In Yang Mo's eyes, this third sister was simply brainless. She was easily manipulated by Lynn Kuan's words, blindly believing whatever he said. She had forgotten how she used to treat him—how he had once cared for her during difficult times.
There was a time when Lynn Ying had been injured, and it was Yang Mo who had stayed by her bedside, bringing her water, cutting fruit for her, and making sure she ate. Whenever she came home exhausted from work, he massaged her shoulders and even brought her warm water to soak her feet.
But what had he gotten in return?
Instead of gratitude, Lynn Ying and the rest of the Lynn family saw his kindness as a calculated scheme—an attempt to curry favor with them for their fortune. To them, there was only one real brother—Lynn Kuan.
Back then, Yang Mo had foolishly believed that if he poured his heart into this family, he would eventually be accepted. But now, looking back, he realized how ridiculous that notion had been.
Without even thinking twice, Yang Mo hung up the call.
On the other side, inside the grand Lynn family villa, Lynn Ying stared at her phone in disbelief.
She had just arrived home and had barely set her things down when she heard about Yang Mo's outrageous behavior.
Lynn Kuan, ever the actor, pretended to be aggrieved, sighing heavily as he spoke, "Big sister, you have no idea. Yang Mo threw a tantrum and stormed out of the house! He even had the audacity to talk back to Dad. I'm really worried about him…"
Hearing this, Lynn Ying's temper flared.
Since when did Yang Mo dare to act so insolently?
She didn't hesitate to call him, expecting him to answer immediately, just like he always had in the past. There was even a time she had punished him by making him kneel for two hours just because he was a few seconds late in picking up her call.
But this time—he actually hung up on her?
A surge of anger coursed through her veins.
"How dare he ignore my call?!"
Without a second thought, she called again. And again.
Yang Mo's phone buzzed incessantly, but he paid it no mind.
His father, Yang Qing, frowned slightly, noticing the repeated calls. "Xia Mo, is someone from the Lynn family bothering you?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.
Yang Mo had made up his mind to leave the Lynn family for good. It was clear that he had fallen out with them, but the Lynn family was not a force that ordinary people could afford to offend.
"Mom, Dad, I need to go back to the Lynn family's villa for a bit," Yang Mo said calmly. "I'll be back tonight."
There were some things he needed to handle personally. If he didn't go back and make things clear, the Lynn family would keep pestering him.
Before Yang Qing or Fang Dongmei could say anything, Xiang Shingyu pouted and huffed, "Brother! Didn't you say you wouldn't go back? Why are you going again?"
"It's fine," Yang Mo reassured her with a gentle smile.
Yang Qing and Fang Dongmei exchanged glances before nodding in understanding. They had raised Yang Mo and knew his personality well—he was never reckless. If he had decided to return to the Lynn family, it was because he was determined to end things once and for all.
"We trust you to handle it, Yang Mo," Fang Dongmei said softly.
Yang Mo turned back to Shingyu and smiled. "Brother will come back tonight and bring you roasted chicken legs. I remember how much you loved them when you were little."
Shingyu's eyes widened with excitement. "Really?! You promise?"
"Of course. Do you remember when we were kids, and I couldn't afford chicken legs, so I stole the neighbor's old hen and roasted it for you? I got scolded so badly after that."
Shingyu burst into laughter. "Yes! I remember! The neighbor was so mad he chased you around the village with a broom!"
"Well, this time, I'll buy them properly," Yang Mo chuckled.
Shingyu's pout instantly disappeared, replaced by a beaming smile. "Alright then! Go quickly and come back soon!"
After saying his goodbyes, Yang Mo left for the Lynn family villa.
The Lynn Family Villa
By the time Yang Mo arrived, it was lunchtime.
Inside the lavish dining hall, a long mahogany table was covered with an extravagant feast—mountains of delicacies, fresh seafood, exquisite dishes cooked by top-tier chefs. At the head of the table sat Lynn Jindong, his so-called father, exuding an air of authority.
Seated closest to him was Lynn Kuan, occupying the prime spot next to their father. His smug expression made it clear—he was already being treated as the true heir of the Lynn family.
In contrast, a worn-out wooden stool sat in the most inconspicuous corner of the room. That seat had always belonged to Yang Mo.
The moment Yang Mo stepped inside, Lynn Jindong's expression darkened.
"You still know to come back?" his voice was cold, full of disdain. "I already said—if you're late, you don't get to eat. You won't be having lunch today."
Yang Mo wasn't surprised.
There was a strict rule in the Lynn family: Anyone who didn't arrive on time for a meal wasn't allowed to eat.
But in truth, this rule only applied to him.
Yang Mo's lips curled into a mocking smile. So what? Did they really think he had come back to beg for food?
He wasn't the same person who used to swallow his pride just to be accepted by this family.
Today, he was here for one reason only—to sever ties with them completely.
And nothing would stop him.
