"Oh, no! I'm not drunk, sir," Selene lied, she tried to wriggle her way out of his hold. But when she did, her legs were not ready to hold her weight yet, and she nearly collapsed.
Nikolas caught her just in time.
"Yes, you obviously are," he said firmly leaving no room for arguments. "What's going on? This is so unlike you."
Selene's gaze lifted to meet his. His hazel-green eyes held something unexpected,compassion. A look she had never seen before.
"I…eh…" she stuttered, not able to speak, her words failing her.
"Do you want us to leave?" His voice was strong, unwavering.
Would he really do that? Leave because she wasn't feeling like herself?
"Yes, please… Let's leave," she whispered.
She turned for one last glance at the two people who had torn her apart. And that was her biggest mistake.
Because at that exact moment, Ivy's eyes locked onto hers.
