"Selene,really? you can't possibly be serious about going through with this," Sandy said, her face pleading.
"I've made up my mind, and that's final," Selene responded firmly.
They stood in the living room, with Selene now clutching a small box for packing up her things from the office and along with her resignation letter in hand.
She planned to just go in, apologize to Nikolas, and hand in her resignation. It was a straightforward plan, but the weight of it all pressed heavily down on her.
"But you're not making any sense right now," Sandy argued, confusion written all over her face. "Why would you just quit because of this? It's not like he fired you."
Selene met her sister's gaze, taking in the worried look in her eyes. Her chest clenched with guilt. If only Sandy knew the real reason behind why she was making this decision,it would have been a lot more easier.But she couldn't tell her. Not yet.
