You seem preoccupied, my lord. What have you been thinking of lately?"
Councilman Richard was the last one left after all the other had left the hall that morning. We had just concluded a meeting on how we were going to move against a community.
Well, it was actually a raid of sorts so it wasn't as if they were our enemies. The community was known for carting gold from place to place and we needed that very place to push forward our business.
"I've been thinking about a lot lately."
"Regarding?"
"Regarding my slave's marriage to my brother."
"Your former slave, you mean?" Councilman Richard said. "I doubt she would like it if you called her a slave now."
I ignored that fact. It was possible that she'd want to be seen as an equal now. After all, her husband to be was the leader of a pack.
But my problem was, I just couldn't stop thinking about her. And truth be told, she had always popped up in my head for the past five years.
