I looked right into his eyes to read his reaction. Well, it was a surprised one. But the Alpha that stood before me didn't like to reveal too much of his emotions.
He liked people to see him as someone who had a very thick hide that no one could easily penetrate. That was how I knew him and I wondered if he was still the same person after all those years.
"My brother didn't save you?" he asked me, after the surprise in his eyes had drained away, leaving the man that I used to know.
Well, he was still a hard nut to crack.
"No, your bother didn't save me at all. But he gave me another chance to become better that I ever was. Better than you ever saw me. Tell me something, Alpha Lucas, do you still have slaves? And by slaves you know exactly waht I mean. The women who keep your bed warm."
He squared his shoulders and looked below the canopy we were standing.
"And what if I told you that I still have those women in my house?"
