Emily's POV
After turning to see Zarel standing behind me with that devilish smile of his, his smile was like a crescent moon, cutting through the storming sky yet beautiful, foreboding.
The glint in his eyes promised danger that made my heart rate so loudly that I could hear them myself.
I couldn't help but shudder instantly. I felt right away that he was going to rip out my throat despite saying that he wanted me to be his mate.
So I decided to say something really fast in order to save my life. Although I couldn't escape from this place right now, there was a chance that I would be able to do so in the future.
"Zarel, I'm really scared," I immediately said. "I'm really scared at this very moment, and I can hear my heart pounding."
"What makes you scared?" Zarel's voice dripped with mock concern, his smile widening as if he had found me amusing.
