Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Newborns

On a desolate path, a young boy was running at full speed, as if chasing his own future.

After running wildly and hastily, Light bent down again, hands on his knees, gasping for breath. He said he wanted to learn Apparition.

The wooden cabin where Hagrid lived was just ahead. Light, who originally wanted to shout, decided against it for fear of disturbing the Boggart giving birth.

Light tiptoed his way to the open space in front of the cabin, where four large boxes were placed.

The Boggarts that failed in the process of giving birth had been moved to the Thestral's habitat.

Hagrid, the one in charge of helping them give birth, was pacing anxiously in front of the boxes, his tall figure looking exactly like a father waiting outside the operating room for his child to be born.

Light called out softly and then stepped forward and asked, "How's the situation? Can I help?"

Hearing the voice, Hagrid, who was in a state of anxiety, immediately turned around as if he'd found his family.

Looking at Light beside him, he also replied in a soft voice, "They are almost born, but they still need help. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do but let nature take its course for now."

Although his voice was still loud, it was relatively softer than before!

"What's that supposed to mean?" Light asked, confused.

After having someone to talk to, Hagrid's anxiety on his face became less obvious.

"Boggarts usually reproduce by splitting!"

"That's why the birth of this new life is very dangerous."

Before Hagrid could continue, Light blurted out, "The condition of the newborn will affect the Boggart's reproductive state."

Hagrid nodded vigorously, strongly agreeing with Light.

"So how can we help them?" Light asked straightforwardly after Hagrid's excitement subsided.

Hagrid didn't beat around the bush and directly said, "When they can't hold on anymore, we need to inject them with potion to assist."

As soon as he finished speaking, three large boxes began to shake violently, and the doors of the boxes suddenly flew open.

Three columns of black smoke shot out from the boxes and gathered in front of the open space. They looked like a constantly changing black mist.

"Something's wrong!" Hagrid quickly stepped forward and took out the prepared potion, sprinkling it at the changing black mist in mid - air.

After absorbing the potion, the speed at which the three clouds of mist changed their forms slowed down, and they began to split.

While Light and Hagrid waited anxiously, the three clouds of black mist all finished splitting, turning into three large and three small clouds of mist.

Just when Light thought it was all over, the small black clouds that had split off also started to change constantly.

Finally, in Light's worried gaze, the three small black clouds that had split off took the shape of a pony and stabilized.

After the shape of the small clouds stabilized, the three large clouds in the air floated down and wrapped around their respective ponies.

Even though they were just clouds of mist, Light could feel their joy from the way they were pulsating!

Hagrid watched with teary eyes, deeply touched by the scene of the affection between mother and child. He was almost reaching for a handkerchief to wipe his tears.

Although Light was also moved by this scene, as the client, he was more concerned about whether his goal had been achieved.

"Did it work?"

Light watched the Boggart leave the Newborns and float back into the box. Then he reached out and tugged at Hagrid, who was still deeply moved.

Hagrid sniffed and said with a choked voice, "So far, our previous assumption failed!"

Saying that, Hagrid stepped forward to examine the new breed that was constantly shifting between being solid and intangible.

After a long while, when Hagrid finished his examination, he looked at Light regretfully and said, "It seems the goal has failed. They have physical forms and can't transform."

"They can only switch between being visible and invisible, like they have an Invisibility Cloak on them all the time."

"Compared to a Boggart, it's more like a Thestral! But they can freely choose to appear or disappear."

Hagrid stated the conclusion he'd reached after his examination, looking quite disappointed.

Hearing this, Light couldn't help but show a pained expression. Wasting the Galleons was one thing, but all the effort and hope he'd put in during this period seemed to be in vain.

With his last bit of hope, Light looked at the large box that still showed no sign of movement and murmured,

"Does that mean my last hope lies there?"

Before long, the last hope also began to shake. A cloud of black smoke drifted out and kept changing in the air.

Shortly after Hagrid added the potion, the black smoke started to split, giving rise to a small cloud of black smoke.

In Light's disappointed gaze, the emerging smoke transformed into a little foal.

"All is in vain after all! As expected, life is full of ups and downs, isn't it?"

Just when Light was gonna talk to Hagrid about how to take care of these four Newborns, another change took place.

The foal wrapped by the Boggart suddenly changed, with a snake's head and tail poking out of the wrapping.

Seeing this Newborn that looked very much like a basilisk, a surge of ecstasy welled up in Light's heart: "Could it be that I've succeeded?!"

As if echoing his thoughts or dissatisfied with being wrapped,

it started to transform again and turned into the shape of a diary, then fell to the ground, breaking free from its mother's embrace.

Seeing this familiar diary, Light couldn't help but let out a strange "Jie Jie Jie" laugh.

The Boggart floating in the air, whether feeling tired or sad, simply floated back into the box.

And at this moment, Hagrid grabbed the Newborn that was starting to transform again, interrupting the transformation process, and began to examine it!

Light also felt a bit uneasy, fearing another disappointment.

Soon, with Hagrid's skillful handling, the Newborn kept changing forms but couldn't escape.

Looking at the little one constantly transforming in Hagrid's hands, Light's smile got creepier and creepier.

Under Light's extremely expectant gaze, Hagrid finished his examination and excitedly nodded at Light.

Taking out the blood - collector he'd prepared long ago, he slowly approached the Newborn that had turned back into a foal.

Amid its neighing, Light took out a tube of blood directly from his spatial equipment. Then he took out the testing device and started analyzing it.

After Hagrid finished feeding the four Newborns, Light also got the test results.

The results showed that the blood contained powerful Magic Power. Even the ordinary blood had a quality comparable to spiritual blood.

Light pulled Hagrid, who was making a nest for them, over and asked, "I want to draw some spiritual blood. Will it have any impact?"

Hearing this, Hagrid stopped his work and said hesitantly, "Do you mean its high - purity blood?"

Seeing Hagrid hesitating, Light didn't want to deceive him and said frankly,

"Yes, I need its spiritual blood!"
