The Food Tavern's backyard was Roya's training ground.

Muscles rippling, Roya, shirtless, strained under the weight of a five-ton barbell. Sweat poured off him, making his skin gleam in the sun.

Nearby, Zoro was equally focused. He swung two heavy, custom-made swords, the air whistling with each arc.

Their lives followed a simple pattern: train at home, hunt pirates to test their skills and earn money, then return to train harder.

It was a repetitive, almost boring routine.

But Zoro thrived in it.

He had everything he needed to focus on getting stronger.

Logue Town was a unique place. Its location meant a constant stream of pirates passed through, eager to enter the Grand Line. These pirates were much stronger than those found elsewhere in the East Blue.

This meant endless challenges for Zoro!

Logue Town was the perfect place in the East Blue to hone his skills. Facing pirates and bounty hunters of all types, his fighting experience grew quickly.

Now, he could take down pirates with bounties over ten million!

It was noon, after a hearty lunch.

Roya slung a backpack over his shoulder, ready to go.

Zoro stopped training, surprised. "You're leaving?" he asked.

"Yep, heading to the Grand Line," Roya replied with a smile. The Marine training ship had arrived to pick him up and was being loaded with supplies. It was set to leave at two in the afternoon.

Everything that needed to be said had been said. Logue Town was stable, and Roya would only be gone for about three months. He'd be back before they knew it.

"The Grand Line!" Zoro's eyes blazed with excitement.

That man was there, in the Grand Line!

"I'm going to train!" Zoro declared, turning and heading back to the backyard.

Roya watched him go, a little surprised.

Normally, he'd want to come with me, full of reckless confidence and eager to challenge Hawkeye right away.

Good, he's maturing.

Roya waved goodbye to Ririka and her daughter, then headed toward the port.

The enormous Marine ship docked at the coast, drawing a crowd. The three massive cannons on the bow were particularly impressive, looking capable of blasting a pirate ship to splinters with a single shot.

It was a warship from Marine Headquarters!

Hundreds of officers were gathered on the deck.

Logue Town was the last stop in the East Blue before the Grand Line. It was also the final East Blue stop for the training ship. Officers from other branches had already boarded, leaving only Roya.

"This 'Black Hair' guy must be a huge, five-meter-tall monster!" someone whispered.

"I heard he has blue skin!" another added.

"Is he even human?"

The officers buzzed with curiosity about this "Black Hair" who had made a name for himself in the East Blue. Defeating three strong pirate crews wasn't something just anyone could do.

And "Black Hair" had only been active for less than two years!

"Here he comes!" someone shouted.

A squad of Marines appeared at the end of the street, seemingly from the Logue Town Branch, but...

The officers hesitated, confusion on their faces.

"Do they seem a littleā€¦shady?" one wondered.

Rather than Marines, they looked more like a group of street thugs. They had a wild, undisciplined air about them.

Bartolomeo stood on a box, beaming with pride. "Alright, men! Let's send off Colonel Roya!"

"Ooooh!" the new recruits cheered, delighted that the "devil" was finally leaving.

"Colonel! Have a safe trip!" one shouted.

"Hope you never come back!" yelled another.

"Maybe a Sea King will eat you!" a third added gleefully.

The new recruits were openly celebrating Roya's departure.

"You guys shut up!" Tashigi scolded, her face red with embarrassment. These idiots were thrilled that Roya would be gone for a while.

It's one thing to be happy in private, but they're actually gloating! They have no idea how to behave.

Roya stood below the warship, amused by Bartolomeo and the recruits.

Good, they're full of spirit!

He liked this motley crew. The thought of causing chaos at Marine Headquarters with them filled him with a sense of rebellious joy.

"Tashigi, when you get back, put Bartolomeo in the small, dark room for three days. Give the other new recruits three days off!" Roya commanded.

"Yes, Colonel!" Tashigi replied.

The new recruits were stunned.

Were they hearing things?

The devil was giving them a vacation!

After a moment of silence, they erupted in cheers. After enduring two months under Roya's command, they could finally go out and have some fun.

"Long live Colonel!"

"Long live! Long live!"

Everyone cheered, except for Bartolomeo, who was furious.

He was itching to fight Roya, shouting, "Why are you only punishing me?!"

Roya grinned, giving Bartolomeo the middle finger.

Then, he turned and boarded the ship!

On the deck, the officers quickly cleared a path, avoiding Roya as if he had a contagious disease. They stared at him with strange expressions.

It was the first time they'd seen a superior officer openly punish a subordinate and flip him off like a gangster.

Best not to provoke this guy!

"He's so young!" one officer whispered.

"And not even two meters tall!" another added.

"I thought he'd be a giant."

The officers secretly sized up Roya. He looked less than twenty years old and wasn't as intimidating as they had imagined. He was actually quite handsome, with an ordinary build.

But this ordinary-looking man had defeated Arlong, the strongest pirate in the East Blue.

A beautiful girl with short, orange hair stepped forward, saluting with a bright smile. "Colonel Roya, it's good to see you again!"

"Isca?" Roya's eyes lit up. It was a pleasant surprise to see a familiar face on the ship, especially a pretty one.

"I didn't expect to run into you here."

"I owe it all to you," Isca replied.

She pointed to her shoulder patch. "Last time I worked with you, we took down a lot of pirates and the Buggy Pirates, which got me promoted to Major. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been eligible for this training camp."

In the Four Seas branches, besides Colonels who hadn't attended the training camp, some outstanding Majors and Lieutenant Colonels were also selected.

Isca was one of them.

She felt a little embarrassed, like she had taken advantage of Roya's success. "Colonel Roya, there are a lot of people here. Let's talk inside."

"Sure, and by the way, just call me Roya," he responded.

Roya followed the girl with a smile.

In the warship restaurant, they found a quiet corner.

Isca sipped her juice, her eyes full of excitement and worry. "Roya, I heard the training camp is really tough. I'm afraid someone like me will be eliminated in the first round."

"Just do your best. The experience is what matters," Roya replied.

He couldn't bring himself to say empty words like, "You're strong, you'll definitely be fine," because, with her current strength, she might actually be eliminated.

There were no weaklings in the training camp. The minimum requirement was Branch Major. Even the pampered sons of Headquarters were likely to be stronger than Branch Majors.

The East Blue was the weakest sea. Of the hundreds of officers on the warship, probably only a handful would ultimately succeed.

Roya smiled and held out his hand.

"Let's do our best together!"

"Yeah!" Isca nodded enthusiastically.

Their hands clasped together.

Departure, the Grand Line!
