New school, new faces, same old chaos.
I wasn't new to moving around. Dad's job had us packing and unpacking like it was a routine. But this time, it felt different. Maybe because Carl and I were finally in our last year of high school, or maybe because something about this place felt… off.
I adjusted my bag, glancing at the massive gates of Westwood Academy. Fancy golden letters spelled out the school's name, and the students walking in looked like they stepped out of a movie—designer bags, sleek cars, and an air of confidence I wasn't sure I could fake.
Beside me, my twin brother Carl stretched his arms, letting out a relaxed sigh. "New school, new start," he said. "Let's try to keep a low profile this time." He nodded at me knowingly
I snorted. "Low profile? Have you met me?"
He chuckled, ruffling my hair. "Yeah, unfortunately."
We stepped through the gates, and almost instantly, the stares began. Some curious, some uninterested, and some… judgmental. Westwood wasn't just a school. It was a whole different world. A world I was ready for. If anything I was aware of the beauty of California and I was planning on savoring every bit of excitement.
"Ugh, newbies," a voice drawled.
I turned to see two girls standing by the entrance, both radiating rich girl energy. One was tall with waist-length jet-black hair, sharp features, and an icy expression. The other had wavy blonde hair and a smirk like she owned the place.
"Welcome to Westwood," the blonde one said, smiling sweetly—but something about it felt fake. "I'm Tasha, and this is Naomi. We run things around here."
I raised a brow. "Oh? Does the school pay you for that, or is it just self-appointed royalty?"
Tasha's smile dropped, while Naomi narrowed her eyes. "Bold for a newbie," she said. "Careful where you step."
Carl put a hand on my shoulder, his way of telling me to chill before I got us expelled on day one. "We're just here to study," he said smoothly. "No drama."
Naomi smirked. "We'll see about that." And I scoffed.
They sauntered off, leaving an air of intimidation behind them.
Carl sighed, shaking his head. "Kathy, we've only been here for ten minutes."
I shrugged. "Not my fault rich girls think they own the world. It's my first day in school and I'm not gonna let any bossy ass bitch think I'm a weakling just cuz I'm new."
We walked further inside, taking in the grand courtyard, the tall glass buildings, and the expensive cars still rolling in. I was busy admiring the place when—
BAM!
I slammed right into someone. Hard.
I stumbled back, blinking up at a guy who looked like he belonged in a movie—tall, broad shoulders, dark hair slightly tousled, and sharp hazel eyes. The way everyone around us immediately went silent told me one thing.
I had just bumped into someone important.
"Watch it," he said, his voice low, almost lazy. Like he was used to people stepping aside for him.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh, my bad, Your Highness. Next time, I'll make sure to walk with a warning sign."
A few gasps echoed around us. Carl stiffened beside me.
The guy's eyes locked onto mine, his lips curving into a smirk. "Feisty. I like that. Much too bold for a newbie"
"Too bad I don't care," I shot back.
He chuckled, tilting his head slightly. "You're new. I'll let that slide. But next time… be careful...." He looked at my name tag "Kathy" he said in an almost disgusted tone .
Before I could fire back, Carl stepped in front of me, his voice calm but firm. "Or maybe you should watch where you're going."
The air between them was thick with tension.
The guy studied Carl for a moment, then smiled—slow, amused, like he had just discovered something interesting. "You're her brother, huh?" His eyes flicked back to me, something unreadable in them. "This should be fun."
Then, just as smoothly as he appeared, he walked away, his group trailing behind him.
Carl turned to me, his expression unreadable. "Kathy..."
I threw up my hands. "What?!"
He exhaled sharply, running a hand down his face. "Do you ever stop attracting trouble?"
Before I could answer, a voice behind us spoke up.
"I hope, for your sake, you know what you just got yourself into."
I turned around, heart skipping a beat as I came face-to-face with Naomi and Tasha again, both of them watching me like I had just stepped into a game I didn't even know I was playing. Naomi almost eating me up with her eyes.
And something about their expressions told me I was in for a lot with this three. At least I could handle this bitches but what was Mr. Demi god's deal.
Whatever it was I knew this wasn't the kind of game I could afford to lose.
"Carl wait up" I shouted realizing my drift in thoughts slowed my pace.
"Why did you leave me behind" I pouted
He turned to face me, his expression slightly stern. "Don't give me that face. You really are trouble. I don't want to get into unreasonbale fights because of you "
I sighed and walked silently as I watched everyone staring at me.
"Whatever is the deal with this people?" I thought to myself for a split second and walked into my class.
Sadly I and Carl weren't in the same class and that leaves me alone to face off this hungry looking lions and proud peacocks.
I settled happily on my desk. My mind suddenly drifted to the earlier scene and let out a silent prayer .
"God please whatever it is don't let Demi-god be in this class"
Just then the screams in the class began. It was as if a celebrity had walked in and they were all waiting for their turn to get an autograph.
I could hear some girls mutter . "Liam is here? He never comes here"
"Perhaps today will be my lucky day"
"I wish I could steal a kiss"
"He should even just look at me"
They were all going wild and I couldn't tell why. I watched as my classmates were drooling. My head suddenly turned to the direction of attention and to my greatest dismay it was Demi god.
My face turned blue "The fuvk was he looking for here?"
And just then he turned and looked at me and gave me this sharp corner smile that looked devastatingly seductive. "Kitty Kat" he called and I looked away immediately and everyone turned to look at me.
As if it wasn't enough that his presence was suffocating he had to call my name. I stood up immediately and made to leave the class before my head would explode to tiny bits.
Just then he grabbed my hand and drew me closer within the blink of an eye. One second I was stepping away and now with his arms around me, his warmth and my heart.? Beating faster than I could ever imagine. He brought his hand to my face and held my chin and he drew closer and closer I could hear gasps coming from every corner .
The back of my mind struggled to break free but my body didn't let me.
"Oh great! Now I'm one of those girls getting weak in the knees for Mr Walking Ego. Fantastic ". As much as I tried not to, my nose knowingly kept inhaling his minty breath and with my body engulfed in his, it was a moment I annoyingly wanted to relish until a voice came disrupting my thoughts.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing ?"
