A few days had passed since Ethan and Anna's eventful date.
Jean and Scott had already left for their honeymoon, courtesy of Professor Xavier's generosity. The mansion had been noticeably quieter without them, though it was still lively thanks to the other students.
Meanwhile, Anissa remained unconscious.
According to Hank, her body had fully recovered, and she could wake up any time now, either today or tomorrow.
The day passed as usual, with classes and training. However, in the afternoon, Logan and Professor X left the mansion to investigate something Charles had sensed using Cerebro.
That left the rest of the students to enjoy a rare free evening.
Later that evening, Ethan and his friends decided to play basketball outside.
They split into two teams:
Team 1: Ethan, Kitty, Angelica, and Kurt
Team 2: Bobby, Anna, John, and Colossus (who had some free time)
For fairness, no powers were allowed. However, even without abilities, Ethan still managed to steal the show.
His speed, agility, and skill made him dominate the game effortlessly.
As the match progressed, more girls gathered around the court, watching and cheering—for Ethan, mostly.
Bobby and John groaned while glaring at their ever-growing audience.
"Why is it always him?" Bobby muttered.
John sighed. "Because the universe just loves him."
Colossus, ever the gentleman, shrugged. "At least he is humble about it."
As the game neared its end, Ethan got the ball. If he scored, his team would win.
Anna quickly rushed to block him with determined expression.
However, Ethan smirked before licked his lips, and whispered, "Damn, you look delicious in that sweat shirt."
Anna froze mid-step, her mind stalling.
Did he just—?
Before she could recover, Ethan made the shot.
The ball swished through the net.
"Game over!" Kurt shouted excitedly.
Angelica and Kitty rushed to hug Ethan, celebrating the victory.
Meanwhile, Bobby and John looked devastated.
"I swear," John muttered, "if I have to watch another girl throw herself at him, I'm gonna lose it."
Bobby nodded. "We really need girlfriends."
The crowd of girls watching the game cheered loudly, some even calling out Ethan's name.
Anna who had just recovered from her daze, suddenly blurred forward and punched Ethan in the face.
A shockwave rippled through the air from the force of her hit.
However, Ethan didn't move an inch. He stood there, completely unaffected.
The crowd gasped.
Ethan simply rubbed his jaw. "Damn, babe. That was uncalled for."
Anna glared at him. "You distracted me with that comment!"
Ethan smirked. "I only stated the truth."
Anna huffed. "You—"
Before she could continue, Ethan suddenly moved before hugging and lifted her into the air, flying above the mansion.
She struggled at first. "Ethan, put me—mmph!"
He kissed her mid-air, silencing her protests.
For a moment, she resisted, but soon melted into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Their tongues clashed, battling for dominance, but Ethan won with his experience and adaptation overwhelming her.
Anna surrendered, letting him take control as the kiss deepened.
When they finally broke apart, a thin string of saliva still connected their lips.
Anna panted with her cheeks flushed. "You're… lucky I love you."
Ethan grinned. "I know."
As they floated above the mansion, Ethan reached into his pocket and pulled out a small silver pocket watch.
Anna frowned. "Wait… that's—"
Ethan nodded. "The Omni-Watch. Even though I'm working on a better name, anyway I'm giving it to you."
Anna's eyes widened. "Ethan, this thing lets you travel universes. Why would you—?"
Ethan shrugged. "I took it from you before because I wanted to test it. But that 'test' brought Anissa here, and now we have a new problem."
He placed the watch around her neck, securing it gently.
"It's best not to use it for a while," he added. "But from now on… it's yours."
Anna hesitated, then finally smiled as her heart warming. She wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly. "…Thank you."
"For what?"
"For coming into my life."
Meanwhile, down below, Bobby, Kurt, and John watched the entire thing.
Bobby groaned. "We seriously need girlfriends."
John nodded. "Agreed."
Kurt sighed dramatically. "Mein Gott, I cannot take this anymore."
The three looked at each other, as if silently making a decision.
Tomorrow, they would start looking for girlfriends.
Because there was no way they were spending another day watching Ethan steal the spotlight.
....
The Xavier Institute was quieter than usual that night.
Storm had gone out with a few of the girls for a night out, promising to return by tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, Hank was buried deep in his lab, working on a new project involving Anissa's DNA. She had been moved to a separate room for further observation, and for the most part, the mansion was peaceful.
Too peaceful.
A soft breeze rustled through the trees outside as the moonlight bathed the mansion in a silvery glow.
Then, few shadows moved.
A group of figures clad in black tactical gear slipped into the mansion grounds, moving with military precision.
They scaled the walls effortlessly, using specialized equipment to bypass security. The front gate's cameras flickered, and soon, one by one, the mansion's defenses were disabled.
They weren't here for destruction.
They were here for someone.
Silently, they infiltrated the hallways, methodically opening doors and tossing canisters of sleeping gas into each room. Within minutes, several students were unconscious, their breaths slow and steady as they were pulled from their beds and taken away.
One of the intruders slowly pushed open another door.
They tossed a smoke canister inside, expecting the usual reaction.
Instead, they were sent flying back—hard.
"What the hell?!" one of the men cursed, barely rolling to his feet.
The smoke cleared, revealing a woman with glowing violet eyes sitting up on her bed.
Her expression was annoyed, her tone sharp.
"Who the hell dares to wake me up?"
It's Anissa.
The two men hesitated for only a second before they raised their weapons and fired sleep darts at her.
They bounced off and Anissa's eyes darkened.
She tilted her head, then smirked—but there was no humor in it.
"Wrong move."
Before they could react, she was already in front of them.
Two seconds.
That was all it took.
A single sharp movement—one throat crushed, one spine snapped.
Their bodies hit the floor soundlessly.
The rest of the intruders heard the disturbance.
"Someone is awake! Engage!"
More figures rushed in with their weapons drawn.
Anissa didn't wait. She lunged forward and her movements blurring as she tore through them with deadly efficiency.
Gunfire erupted, but the bullets bounced harmlessly off her skin.
The noise of the battle echoed through the mansion—and it was enough to wake them all more importantly Ethan and Anna.
Within seconds, both of them arrived at the scene, their eyes scanning the chaos.
Due to their enhanced senses and speed they arrived before anyone here. Hank is also on the way there.
The mansion hall was littered with bodies, all belonging to intruders dressed in tactical gear.
Standing in the middle of it all was Anissa.
Her hands dripped with blood and her expression is unreadable.
She turned her eyes toward Ethan and Anna. "We need to talk."
Ethan narrowed his eyes, taking in the situation. "Thirty men, all dead… You took them all down?"
Anissa simply nodded.
Ethan surveyed the scene—the bodies of the intruders sprawled across the mansion floor, the lingering scent of gunpowder in the air, and Anissa standing in the center of it all with her hands still stained with blood.
With a sigh, he ran a hand through his hair and muttered, "Peace is short-lived here."
