Chapter 37 - The New Goblin King

Blood splattered on the marble floor of the palace.

In a long candlelit corridor, Reed stood among the corpses of knights.

His sword gleamed red.

Behind him, Shia wiped her dagger, staring ahead.

At the end of the corridor, the great door to the throne stood solid.

Behind it, the King waited.

Reed smiled coldly.

"Finally here."

Inside the throne room, the King sat quietly.

The nobles trembled beside him.

Some of them had tried to flee, only to be cut down by the still loyal palace guards.

They were not allowed to run.

If the kingdom fell, they would fall with it.

The King sighed.

His eyes were blank, but there was something shining in them.

Not fear.

Not despair.

But the knowledge that the end had indeed come.

"Goblin Lord…" he murmured.

"Let us end it all."

BOOM!

The throne door swung open.

Reed stepped in with a determined stride.

Shia disappeared into the shadows.

The guards reacted instantly, forming a defensive line in front of the King.

They didn't speak.

There was no warning.

There was no threat.

They simply raised their swords.

They knew this was the end.

But they would fight anyway.

Reed raised his sword.

"Alright. Let's clear this place."

The fight broke out instantly.

Reed lunged forward, his dagger moving like a shadow.

CLASH!

A guard's neck was pierced in one strike.

From behind, Shia appeared, cutting down two guards in one swift motion.

The nobles screamed in terror.

Some knelt down begging for mercy.

But Reed didn't care.

He kept going.

One by one, the guards fell.

And in a matter of seconds…

Only the King remained.

The king stared at the bodies around him.

Blood covered the floor.

The kingdom he had worked so hard to build… destroyed in a single night.

Reed stopped a few steps in front of him.

His eyes were cold.

"You lost."

The king took a deep breath.

Then he chuckled.

"I knew this would happen," he said softly. "From the moment Clive died… I knew it."

Reed raised his sword.

"Do you have any last words?"

The king stared at him directly.

His eyes were fearless.

"You may have won today, Goblin Lord."

"But power never lasts."

He smiled faintly.

"You'll see… someone will come to challenge you."

Reed didn't care.

CLETAP!

His sword stabbed the king's heart.

The king fell silent, then fell to the floor.

The kingdom had collapsed.

The system vibrated.

[The King Has Fallen!]

[The Kingdom Has Been Destroyed – A New Era Begins!]

[The Goblin Lord Now Rules This Land!]

Reed took a deep breath.

He stared at the empty throne.

Then he chuckled.

"So, I'm the one sitting here now?"

Shia stared at him silently.

Outside, the sound of the goblin army echoed throughout the capital.

Victory was assured.

The kingdom was destroyed.

And the Goblin Lord…

Now became the new King.

The sky was still dark.

Inside the palace that was now filled with shadows, Reed sat on the throne.

Blood still stained the marble floor.

The King's body lay before him.

The remaining nobles knelt, trembling in fear.

They had lost everything.

And now, the throne was in the hands of a monster.

Reed smiled faintly.

"So… I am in charge now?"

Outside the palace, the city was full of chaos.

The royal army is gone.

Nobility without protection.

And the people… are trapped in fear.

The goblin army celebrates victory.

Fires still burn in several corners of the city, burning away the remains of the glory of the old kingdom.

Above the highest tower, the royal flag was lowered.

Instead, a black flag with a goblin symbol was flying.

The human era is over.

The goblin era has just begun.

Shia stood beside Reed, her eyes filled with calm.

"What will you do now?" she asked.

Reed looked at the remaining nobles.

They were all trembling, their heads bowed.

Once, they had viewed the goblins as inferior creatures.

Now, their fates were in the goblins' hands.

"Are they… useful?" Reed asked quietly.

Shia shook her head. "Most of them only know how to live comfortably. They are nothing more than parasites."

Reed chuckled.

"Then… make them choose."

He stood up from the throne.

"Those who submit, live."

"Those who resist… die."

Shia smiled faintly.

"Very well. I will take care of them."

That night, cries and screams filled the capital.

Some of the nobles swore allegiance to the Goblin King.

Others tried to resist… and were mercilessly beheaded.

Outside, goblin soldiers combed the houses.

They drove out the noble families.

They distributed food and loot to the commoners.

Reed watched from atop his tower.

Below him, the city was changing.

It was no longer a human city.

It was the first city in history to be controlled by goblins.

Shia returned to his side.

"The nobles have been wiped out or have submitted. The human army is gone. This city is ours."

Reed sighed.

"Good. But this is only the beginning."

He stared out into the distance.

This kingdom may have fallen…

But there was still a world out there.

And that world would soon know his name.

Goblin Lord.

A new ruler who would shake things up.
