Chapter 19 - Let Me In.

I could not contain my dread. When I found out that Grandma could figure out my plan, ruin it and earn me bad reputation in front of Thane.

I was feeling very scared discovery irritated me. All of a sudden, I was inspired and I started behaving scared and confused.

I started crying " Grandma" I knew all to well, why I had been crying. I was scared but I could channel it into my stage act.

" why are you there? C'mon answer me"

"No in fact don't answer me, just leave the door so I could pass through"

" Grandma plea-plea, this is nit something that you should see"

" what should I not see" she walked towards the door area and threathened to slap me if I wasn't going to be reasonable and tell her what was wrong, I was enjoying her reaction. Exactly what I needed. I could see Thane and my mother downstairs. I just hand to create a lot of racket about not opening the door; so It would grab their attention.

"Is something wrong with peace, get out of my way."

" No grandma! I can not let you do this to peace." I resisted as she tried to get me out of the way forcefully.

"paaaa!" I could not hear with my left ear for a while, and my face vibrated up and down. It was a slap to remember and it was for a good cause.

Darn this woman's hands were as thick as sh**

Thane

"Yes, Mr. Thane I love entertaining your idea of having a business cue to the advertisements"

" It is going to be a big one, Mr. Thane, do you want to become the next CEO?" a man raised his glasses and I was quiet for a while, of course I would love to be the next CEO, a higher pay and position would mean a better life for peace.

He raised up his glasses, put it on his chest with his head down, then he bursted into laughter.

" Ahh! Mr. Wilson, you sure know how to lift the mood"

"I am learning from my wifeoooo, she says that a Manager must be friendly and easy going with his staff especially when out with your colleagues" I laughed awkwardly and gave a smile to show that I was moved by the light banter. But all of it flew out of my head at once, because I was worried for Peace.

He placed his arms on my shoulder and one Jude's shoulder.

"Cheers! To this wonderful couple's union"

" Cheers!" everyone shouted in unison . My cup had been empty but the wine bottles that leaked over me as everyone clanged their cups together ; filled my empty cup half way.

I was just holding the cup to feel like I belong, I knew that Peace would not like to smell the reek of alcohol on me in the bed room tonight, It took a lot of self control ad discipline to not do what everyone else had been doing.

I was hearing some altercation upstairs. I looked up and I saw Grandma and grace. Grandma was trying to pull her out of the way dragging their bodies in a tug war.

I knew this was serious. A person could get hurt in this kind of situation. Grandma was closer to the staircase railing while grace was shouting some words I really could hear clearly enough but they seemed to be arguing about who would enter my room.

Wait, Peace is there , what happened?

" Mr. Wilson sir, permit my absence. I want to go check something. I will call the entertainers to keep you guys entertained"

I rushed off as fast as I could, the floors had been splattered with cake icing at an area around the staircase, and I nearly fell, but it didn't stop me. I could not bear to have peace or grandma get hurt. They were my mothers when my real mom passed away.

" I want to believe that I was not the only one hearing what is happening up stairs" click clacks of high heels followed me up the stair case , I could sense that it was aunt Anita.

We finally got to the scene and I was able to separate grandma from grace. She had already been pulling out grace's hair before I came to the two of them rescue.

Immediately grace had seen me, she hugged me very tight like she was trying to squeeze my rip cage to get out lung-paste from me.

I felt uncomfortable as she hugged me and cried like she had been morning the death of a beloved. These days days lately, she has been very clingy anytime she got the chance to see me. I guess she really does see me as an elder brother. My mind thought of an alternative reason but I choose to ignore it, it can't be possible.

I removed the grip she had on me and I held her hands and asked her:

" Grace, what really is wrong? What is making you so defiant towards Grandma?"

Immediately she removed her hands from my palms and fell down at my feet, holding on to my ankle and making it imposible for me to move

" Thane, please don't enter the room, Grandma, mother…I know you guys think I don't like peace b-b-but-but she is like a sister too meeeeeeeee" she looked up into my eyes. Her eyes were bloshot, sanity had left her eyes and desperation settled.

She was making me panic, what could have happened to peace. My heart raced and the grace's reaction was not helping matters.

" All right let us talk this through" Grandma said, she seemed to have calmed down a bit.

" Yes, whatever happens will not be your fault" Aunt Anita said while trying to get Grace to stand up.

Grace stood up slowly like a defeated soldier, and she buried her face in her mother's shoulder.

Why did some women love drama so much, I asked myself, I knew that Grace was always the one to behave hysterically about something but not at the expense of my wedding anniversary's peace. I took up the initiative and I opened the door.
