Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Successful Hunt

"GAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

The Crayfish Devil let out a deafening roar, not just from the pain of its severed antenna but also from the fury of being injured by a human.

In its rage, the Crayfish Devil swung both of its massive claws at Chiya.

For an ordinary person, it would have been nearly impossible to dodge such a wide-ranging attack.

But Chiya was no ordinary person. With the Mangekyō Sharingan's ability to track and predict the movements of everything around him, the Crayfish Devil would never be able to lay a finger on him.

He even dared to dash forward beneath the descending claws, having already predicted that the claws wouldn't hit him as he advanced.

This allowed him to close the distance between himself and the Crayfish Devil, his katana ready for an attack.

Seeing this, Aki's heart tightened.

To him, this was an extremely risky move. The margin for error was too small, and a single mistake could be fatal.

For an ordinary person, that might have been true—perhaps the margin for error was less than 10%. But for Chiya, it was a solid 100%. There was no possibility of failure.

At that moment, Chiya thrust his katana into the Crayfish Devil's abdomen.

The Crayfish Devil's exoskeleton wasn't impenetrable. Areas like its antennae and abdomen were unprotected, and a sharp enough katana could easily inflict damage.

"Schlick—!"

The katana pierced deep into the devil's flesh, and when Chiya pulled it out, a torrent of blood gushed from the wound.

Watching the smooth and swift execution of the attack, Aki was momentarily stunned.

Is this guy really a rookie…?

However, Aki quickly snapped out of it. He couldn't just stand there watching. He immediately moved to attack the Crayfish Devil from behind.

But the devil's back and tail were heavily armored, so he could only aim for its legs—those human-like appendages.

Perhaps the Crayfish Devil's claws were too heavy, as it raised them relatively slowly.

Seizing this opportunity, Chiya gutted the devil, causing its intestines to spill out in a gruesome cascade.

Aki, meanwhile, had severed most of the devil's legs.

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

As the Crayfish Devil let out a final, agonized scream, Chiya delivered the killing blow, thrusting his katana upward from its chest into its head. Soon, the devil fell completely silent.

[Ding! Host has unlocked the achievement "First Devil Hunt." Attribute points gained: 5!]

[Ding! Host has successfully hunted the "Crayfish Devil." Attribute points gained: 9!]

Of course, the number of attribute points gained from hunting different devils varied. The stronger the devil, the more attribute points one would receive.

The Crayfish Devil wasn't particularly strong, but it wasn't weak either—certainly stronger than something like the Tomato Devil. After all, far more people feared crayfish than tomatoes.

Getting 9 attribute points for hunting a Crayfish Devil was reasonable.

Moreover, devils were a renewable "resource." They could never be completely eradicated.

When a devil died, it would resurrect in Hell.

And when it died in Hell, it would reincarnate in the human world, though it would lose all memories of its previous life. This was the cycle of reincarnation.

Unless the Chainsaw Devil devoured them, devils would endlessly resurrect and reincarnate.

"It's definitely dead, right?"

Aki kicked the Crayfish Devil's corpse to confirm it wasn't moving.

"Yeah, it's dead."

Chiya responded, casually flicking the blood off his katana before sheathing it.

Throughout the entire fight, he hadn't used the "Kamui" eye technique. He was worried that, given his current "Vitality," using it might drain his body instantly or even blind him.

But even without relying on Kamui, the basic abilities of the Mangekyō Sharingan were already incredibly powerful. As long as he didn't encounter an overwhelmingly strong devil, there was no need to use such a high-risk technique.

Without a second thought, Chiya allocated all his distributable attribute points to "Vitality."

[Ding! Distribution complete. Vitality +15!]

[Vitality: 30]

[Distributable Attribute Points: 0]

Now, Chiya's Vitality was three times that of an ordinary person. With such enhanced life force and regenerative abilities, he finally felt somewhat confident about using the "Kamui" technique.

"I'll call someone to deal with the devil's corpse."

Aki then walked out of the tunnel to make a phone call.

By the time he finished the call, Chiya had also emerged.

Aki glanced back at Chiya, noticing that the boy only had a few splashes of blood on him, with dirt and mud limited to the soles of his shoes.

In contrast, Aki looked far more disheveled. His clothes were soaked with dirty water, mud, and blood, emitting a foul stench.

Aki couldn't help but ask, "Are you… really a rookie?"

"Of course. I just got lucky and made a contract with a relatively strong devil." Chiya smiled modestly.

From now on, no matter who asked, he would only explain the Mangekyō Sharingan's abilities as demonic powers gained from a contract with a devil. He would never let anyone know about the system's existence or the true nature of "Kamui."

After all, even without considering the side effects, Dual Kamui wasn't entirely without weaknesses… (A small controversial section of the original text has been omitted here to avoid affecting the reading experience.)

While the weaknesses of a single Kamui were already negligible, Dual Kamui reduced them to almost nothing. Still, it never hurt to be cautious.

Comparing the power systems of Naruto and Chainsaw Man was difficult. Devils like the Darkness Devil, Control Devil, and War Devil had abilities that were too abstract. Even with Dual Kamui, Chiya couldn't afford to be careless.

"Alright."

Aki instinctively glanced at Chiya's eyes.

He assumed that the demonic power had altered and enhanced Otonashi's eyes, given the boy's extraordinary vision and performance during the fight.

The cost must be significant…

Little did he know, this was just the basic ability of the Mangekyō Sharingan. Chiya didn't have to pay any price for it, and the true power of "Kamui" went far beyond this!
