Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Fourth Floor (2)

"Huragh?"

"Harg! ueogh!"

Two small goblins, arguing about which way they should go. Pointing at where they want to go, but disagreeing with the choices made by the other. In the end, they end up bickering and arguing even more than concluding. A few minutes pass, and they are sweating and panting from the anger they've released.

𝙏𝙃𝙐𝘿!

Suddenly, they hear a sound behind them. They turned their backs and found nothing but a rock slab. Their expressions change. They grow cautious, and their lust for killing is shown by their salivation. Goblin 1 slowly approaches the rock slab with their club appropriate for their size, while Goblin 2 remains keeping its distance away from its goblin friend. Goblin 1 reaches the stone slab and peaks its head to the corner.

𝙎𝙒𝙄𝙎𝙃!

Goblin 1 got pulled behind the slab of rock and started squirming around.

"IGHSSH!? SGUJOM!"

In 3 seconds, the green gremlin squirmed until everything became quiet. The silence became deafening for the world of the goblin friend, and it took a few seconds before it charged toward the rock slab and lunged from above, aiming to strike it down with one hit.

Until it saw a human. Holding a bow, they drew its string and had an arrow pointing towards the very being of the goblin. It didn't take a second for it to reach, but the arrow was faster. It shot up, the arrow going up. If it didn't have any ceiling, it probably would've kept going for 10 seconds. Unfortunately for the goblin, it only took 1 second to reach its skull.

It fell on the cold, stone ground. Where the human was supposed to be. He moved, by rolling sideways. He faces the two goblin corpses beside him, looking at those lifeless gremlin eyes. Once full of lust, now devoid of life. What ugly creatures.

Nash sighed, he sat down and felt hot liquid on his face. He wiped it using his palm, it was the color green. The blood of a goblin he killed not so long ago.

"Feels great!"

[ Level 3 > Level 4, Congratulations on leveling up! ]

[ +3 Status points obtained. ]

[ Goblin 1 dropped: Dirty Loincloth ]

[ Goblin 2 dropped: 10 bronze coins ]

Another washcloth could only be sold for a few bronze coins. Speaking of bronze coins, it is the lowest form of currency. Once you've earned 100 bronze coins, it can be converted to 1 silver coin. The conversion rate is quite harsh. Normally, 10 bronze coins are like 1 silver coin in other games. Unfortunately, Infinite Dungeon isn't like other games. This is why it was so surprising that the system interface would reward me 50 Gold coins to kill 5 goblins only. It is a steal.

[ All items dropped have been looted, items can be found on Inventory ]

"The fact that I can't see my status window is so infuriating. The developers can be quite cruel when it comes to putting status points on random custom characters."

Nash's head itches, and he scratches it out of annoyance.

[ First Mission: Kill 5 goblin-type enemies.

⅘ Goblin-type enemies killed

Reward: 2 Minor Health Potions, 50 Gold ]

Now, time to put these poin–

Nash's body suddenly froze, as if he was being pressed down by gravity itself. Yet, he is shaking. He wasn't being tied, no, he froze and is currently shaking in fear.

Someone- or something behind him is making him feel that way.

He looked behind and found a goblin licking its lips while holding a club, no, not a club.

A staff.

"Uga! Hsaka! 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗮!!"

Death. That is what's gonna happen next if he doesn't move. Move, what are you doing?! Don't fucking freeze now! IT'S COMING! YOU WERE GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE AND YOU'RE GONNA LET A GREMLIN TAKE THAT OPPORTUNITY AWAY FROM YOU???

The Goblin formed a magical circle and pointed towards the human archer. It glowed, becoming more redder. Suddenly, it breathed fire from the ancient circle. Producing a ball of fire coming towards the archer's back, with the intent to incinerate and turn the foolish human into ash.

In a blur, the archer rolled towards the side and faced his major opponent, the strongest predator on this floor.

A Goblin-Mage, an elite-type enemy appears near the stairs of the next dungeon floor. In game terminology, a mini-boss appears on the floor before a main dungeon boss next floor.

The ball of fire that was fired with the intent of hitting a human, hits a stone wall instead. It bursts forth and spreads through the wall and the surface beneath it. The wall turned black, with large cracks.

"Drahgh!"

The Goblin-Mage turned its smile upside down after seeing its magic not hit the intended target. It threw a tantrum, stomping its foot on the ground while flailing its arms around.

His eyes widened, goosebumps all over his entire body, his spine shaken, and sweat covering his entire face. He pants, not out of exhaustion but from fear. Nash's heart feels heavy and pressured as if it's gonna burst at any moment.

'A goblin mage, right here?! How? Did I somehow wander off near the fifth-floor entrance?! I can't fight this little shit right now, I'd die!'

Fight? No! Fuck no! This little shit is an elite-boss for a reason! Not only this gremlin can use Fira, a spell that produces a fireball that explodes upon impact. It has a magical barrier that deflects physical and projectile attacks, meaning that arrows are useless! The only thing that can beat this little shit is magic imbued attacks, or high attack power to shatter the barrier.

Nash places his hand on the ground and pushes himself up. His breathing has stabilized but inside, he is panicking. His body and mind are telling him to run away as soon as possible. So, he did.

He took advantage of the gremlin's tantrum to run around it. In Infinite Dungeon, you have the option to fight or retreat. There will be chances that you can't run.

Like now.

"GRHUAG!"

[ Goblin-Type Enemy passive ability activated: Strength-In-Numbers ]

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!"

A bunch of goblins surround the area, banging their tiny clubs to the ground. They weren't ambushing the human who was at the center with their fellow goblin fella. They are enjoying this, a pseudo arena created by circling the fighters. Their small bodies act as the walls to block the fighters from running away. They are so confident that they think that their mage is gonna win, which their confidence is valid.

"How do I win this? How? The moment I kill a goblin, all of them might attack me all at once. The only thing keeping them together is th-"

Suddenly, a club was thrown at him. He evaded it and put it inside his inventory. He tried to equip it but failed. A pop-up interface appeared.

[ You do not have the required STR for this weapon. ]

Nash widened his eyes, but his lips curved downwards. Smirking like a devil. The fact that he doesn't have the required STR status for a club means that his STR is below 15 because the Club requires 15 STR points. His system window being inaccessible was unfortunate, not knowing what stats he has is worse.

Fortunately, this is Infinite Dungeon. The game where he got transported to, it's the game that he died on. Despite not finishing it, he is practically a veteran.

The Luck Stat exists for a reason. If it wasn't for taking risks that could result in either outcome, then it shouldn't be here in the first place.

I will gamble, I place the bet on my life and my expertise as a veteran player.

"Put all 3 status points on STR!!"

[ -3 Status points, all points have been distributed to STR. ]

"Equip the Club."

[ "Club" Equipped. ]

His bow dematerialized, returning to its position inside the inventory.

Then…

A large wooden stick materialized on his palm and he grabbed onto it like his life depended on it. The archer assumed a fighting stance, holding it like a baseball bat. Ready to pitch the ball, In this case, the ball is the Goblin-Mage's head.

"Batter up!"
