Chapter 6 - Red Neighbors

Red Neighbors—------------I changed things a bit so everyone is a year older in the story, so they'll be joining Hogwarts at 12 and all that. It doesn't change anything about the story, but they'll find out later.

—------------

"So, you found a good place. That's good," said Dumbledore after hearing that Einar had bought some land where his house would be completed in a couple of hours.

"Yes. I don't like having an old man watching me all the time. Let's leave that for when I become a professor," said Einar bluntly.

But Dumbledore turned a deaf ear.

"So, is it alright if you tell me where your house is located?" asked Dumbledore.

"I think it's on the outskirts of a place called Ottery St. Catchpole. There was only one family who would be my neighbors, so it's a quiet place," said Einar with a relaxed smile.

Upon hearing the location, Dumbledore possibly realized where it was, so he smiled simply while looking at Einar.

"Then, congratulations," said Dumbledore calmly.

But that calmness made Einar suspicious of something.

—----

After a couple of hours, Einar's house had already been built. Einar didn't mind having a small house, but the goblin was such a good salesman that he ended up requesting a medium-sized house with several rooms he could use as a forge, enchantment room, library, and alchemy lab.

"Yes, it's bigger than I need," said Einar, looking at his house. After all, he lived alone, and occasionally Dren, but he lived in another dimension. He also had a stable he had built to bring his friend over.

"I hope they take good care of Frost at Whiterun," said Einar as he thought about one of his horses.

"Shadow!" he said, invoking a black portal on the ground, from which emerged a completely dark horse that seemed to be made of pure shadows.

"It's good to see you, my friend," he said while stroking its head.

In reality, he had another horse he could summon, which was Arbak, an undead horse. But it didn't need to be summoned all the time; he could call it whenever he wanted. He still didn't know if there were necromancers in this world and how it would be perceived if he summoned an undead horse.

Not to mention the other, more dangerous summons he had, which were quite eye-catching.

"Is that a magical horse? I've never seen one like that," said a voice in the distance as it approached Einar.

Of course, Einar had already sensed them a while ago. Six people were heading in his direction, which was why he had his dagger hidden in his sleeve.

"Hello, we're your new neighbors. We're the Weasleys, and we live in that house across the river," said a red-haired man while pointing at a house not too far away, which seemed to be built one floor on top of another, simply relying on faith.

"I'm Arthur, this is my wife Molly, and my children Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny. I have three more sons, but they're working," said Arthur with a smile as he shook hands with Einar.

Einar put away his dagger while also shaking his hand as a greeting.

"We brought you a pumpkin pie. I don't know if you'll like it," said the plump woman Arthur had introduced as Molly, while handing a tray to Einar.

"Thank you. So… did Dumbledore send you?" said Einar directly, leaving Molly and Arthur stunned.

"Uh… well… He just asked us to keep an eye out in case you needed something," said Arthur quickly, a bit embarrassed. And that was the truth; that was all Dumbledore had asked them to do.

"Why would Dumbledore want my parents to watch over you?" said the boy named Ron suspiciously.

"Because I kicked the asses of all his professors and almost his as well. He's afraid I might be a danger," said Einar with a mocking smile.

"Nonsense, Dumbledore is the greatest wizard of all time. You don't look strong, so that must be a lie," said Ron, looking at Einar with disdain, while his parents quickly tried to silence him.

Einar had a problem when people treated him like a weakling, especially because he had saved the world from being destroyed by a dragon when he was so young.

"How about I give you a little demonstration?" said Einar with a serious look.

Arthur and Molly didn't know what to do.

But Einar paid them no attention and took off his mask, surprising everyone present with his appearance. Then he looked towards the sky.

"STRUN BAH QO!" Einar shouted, invoking a storm. The clouds quickly formed in just a second, and then it began to rain as lightning started to fall around.

All the Weasleys looked at the sky in fear as they saw lightning strike near their house.

"Alright, I believe you. I'm sorry," Ron said, trembling with fear.

"LOK VAH KOOR!" Einar shouted, clearing the skies, causing the rain to stop quickly.

"Luckily, you apologized quickly. Otherwise, the water would have turned into a thunderstorm, and there would likely be many injuries nearby," Einar said, staring intently at Ron. "Never tell a Nord they're weak, especially a Dragonborn."

"That was awesome!" the two identical boys shouted as they approached Einar with interest.

"Can that be learned?" "Or taught?" "By the way, your mask is really cool." "Do you wear it to avoid conquering hearts left and right?" they said, taking turns speaking, slightly dizzying Einar.

"Well, if they're the first words and you practice a lot, you could learn them. Although I only needed to see them once to learn them. My masters said a normal person could learn the first word in months, the second in years, and the third in decades," Einar said.

"As for my mask, it's so that my words don't slip out accidentally while speaking and send someone flying," he explained patiently.

"So, can you teach us?" they both asked quickly.

At that moment, both Arthur and Molly snapped out of the shock of what they had just witnessed.

"Absolutely not," they both replied quickly.

"Why not?" the twins asked.

"You two are already mischievous. Imagine if you could do that…" Molly said quickly.

Meanwhile, Arthur approached Einar.

"Sorry about my son Ron, he can be a bit… silly," Arthur said.

"It's fine. I just wanted to scare him a little. After all, my people don't like being called liars or weak. Many fights started like that and ended in death," Einar said calmly.

Hearing that, Arthur was a bit surprised, but he understood; after all, Dumbledore had told him Einar was from a different place, and obviously, even someone from another country has a different way of handling things. Luckily, Einar seemed like a good kid and didn't escalate the conflict.

"Alright, it's best if we leave and take the troublemakers with us. Next time, I'll treat you to a drink, if you're old enough to drink, of course," Arthur said quickly.

"In my lands, you are since the moment you're born. But here, I don't know… I'm 17 years old, by the way," Einar said with a smile.

"Seventeen? Then the same as the twins. Don't worry, at seventeen, you're considered of age here," Arthur said as he gently pushed Ginny, who was still staring at Einar in fascination, even though he had already put his mask back on.

Then Arthur and Molly took their children away, while the twins wanted to stay, but their mother quickly denied them, as Einar had just moved in today.

Actually, Einar's shout was a warning to both Ron and his parents since he was annoyed that Dumbledore had sent them. But they didn't seem like bad people, so he wouldn't mind befriending them as long as they weren't trying to establish a connection under Dumbledore's orders.

"That old man is starting to annoy me. If he keeps it up, I'll have to show him what a real Nord is," Einar said as he entered his new house with the tray of cake in hand.

That day, Einar spent his time calmly organizing everything and then went to sleep while reading some books about modern culture. Obviously, he understood very little, but it would be useful.

The next day, he didn't have much to do, so he started reading magic books from first grade onwards, trying to gather all the information before practicing the magic of this world.

He realized that the magic here, although some could be used for combat, most of it was for silly things, really. Although certainly, it would be more helpful to have it than not.

He wondered what the hell he would use a spell to lift a feather for.

"Maybe it's because they're first-year spells," he said as he finished reading the whole book and picked up the one for the second year.

Although this one also had quite a few spells useless to Einar, it improved the number that could be used in combat, but they were still weaker versions of the magic he could already use himself, and without the need for a wand.

In the end, he spent the entire day reading through the last book of Hogwarts' charm classes. Of course, Einar was good at learning; after all, he had to learn everything he could to survive in Skyrim. That's also why he became Archmage after the death of the previous one.

He was considered a genius since he showed his skills and learned everything quickly.

Not only magic but also sword fighting, daggers, axes, maces, bows, alchemy, enchantment… All kinds of skills, really. So finishing reading the books was easy.

And since he was already skilled in magic, putting them to use was also simple.

"Mmm... I still prefer Skyrim's magic, but the magic here has uses in other areas besides combat," he said as he used an Accio spell to pull a vase towards him. "Although I can do this with telekinesis..."
