Chapter 3 - Each Gets What They Need

When Wen Ran arrived at the factory, Director Zhou Mingfu was just seeing off a supplier who had been paid.

Seeing her approach, a fleeting emotion crossed his eyes as he stepped in front of her at the factory gate, wearing a mocking smile:

"Ranran, you're here! We've cleared all our outstanding payments, and in such a short time you've managed to gather fifty million, and even married the heir of MS Group. Impressive. It's just a pity—he's not a real man. At your young age, you're doomed to live a life of widowhood…"

As Zhou Mingfu spoke, he deliberately glanced into the factory area. In front of the flowerbed by the office building, Sister Li was talking with a man dressed in a brown suit—none other than Qin Mu, the assistant to Mo Xiuchen, who had just called Wen Ran.

Wen Ran's slender fingers gripped the strap of her bag tightly as she fought to suppress the deep-seated anger in her heart. It was this man who had caused her parents' death and left her brother in a coma…

And his daughter, Zhou Lin, had even stolen her boyfriend.

One day, she vowed, she would find the evidence to avenge her parents.

Biting her lip hard, Wen Ran sneered coldly:

"How can Uncle Zhou be as gullible as the common rabble, believing slander? There are even rumors out there that you killed my parents to seize control of the Wen family. Could that possibly be true?"

"You… of course not."

After a brief flash of pallor over Zhou Mingfu's face, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that Qin Mu was walking in their direction. Hastily, he stifled his emotions and forced a smile, feigning cordiality:

"Assistant Qin has been a tremendous help to us. Please invite him into the office for some tea."

"Miss Wen, I've already cleared the payment on your behalf. This is from Young Master Mo, sent to you."

Qin Mu stepped out from the factory and handed a folder to Wen Ran. Then, he coldly shot a glance at Zhou Mingfu—a look as chilling as a blast of cold wind that made Zhou Mingfu stiffen.

"Assistant Qin, thank you."

Wen Ran lowered her gaze to the sealed folder and murmured her thanks.

With a slight raise of his handsome eyebrows, Qin Mu gave Wen Ran a scrutinizing look before adding, "Young Master Mo cares a lot about the Wen family. If you need anything, just give me a call," and then drove off, leaving them far behind.

In the afternoon, Wen Ran went to the workshop. She had never managed a factory before, and suddenly taking charge meant she had a lot to learn.

Fortunately, Sister Li—who had worked by Wen Ran's father's side for five or six years—was now wholeheartedly assisting her.

Before she knew it, it was time to leave work.

Just as Wen Ran stepped out of the company, her phone rang. She answered, and before she could speak, the other party immediately began yelling:

"Wen Ran, I've told you I will definitely help you raise the money! Why don't you trust me? Instead, you're marrying Mo Xiuchen—trading fifty million for a lifetime of widowhood…"

Bai Xiaoxiao, Wen Ran's best friend and as close as a sister, had promised tearfully to help her when the Wen family was in crisis—even handling her parents' funeral arrangements.

Deeply moved by Xiaoxiao's loyalty, Wen Ran listened until her friend finished her tirade, then softly said, "Xiaoxiao, the Wen family is facing not only financial problems, but many other issues that money can't solve. My marriage to Mo Xiuchen is simply a case of each getting what they need. I'm not at a disadvantage."

"How can you not be at a disadvantage, Wen Ran? You're only 22 years old. How long is your life anyway?"

Xiaoxiao's tone was anxious. Everyone in G City knew that Mo Xiuchen was beyond humanly decent. If he were a normal man, Wen Ran would never have ended up with him—countless women would have thrown themselves at him instead.
