Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The First Bite

Mira's heart was beating fast in her chest because she ran fiercely through the streets of Luna Heights, her breath was coming in a rapid burst. In the dark road around her, it felt as if they were closing in on her, the shadows were closely crawling with every step she took. Her mind went away, her thoughts got out of control due to her thinking of trying to understand everything that happened in the last twenty-four hours. An evil werewolf died in her apartment. Dane Voss, billionaire Real Estate Mogul, a werewolf himself. And now, the city looked more dangerous than ever.

She could not trust anyone, not even Dane. But she can no longer stop. She had to keep walking to uncover the truth. There was a lot at stake. But the more she tried to discover, the more she realized how much she didn't know. Mira was following the trail of the missing people, an investigation she could not leave anymore. But in a hurry to gather information, she failed to feel how much risk she was into. She was not careful. She was not paying attention. And now, she was paying the price.

Her footsteps echoed through the street's brick walls, and the distant sounds of the city felt as if the world was pressurizing her from every side. Mira turned a corner, her eyes were moving left and right to understand her environment. At the end of the street, there was a small lighting, but it seemed far away from where she was.

She could feel something was wrong but she doesn't know how.

She paused. Mira made her steps, her mind was telling her to run. But it was too late.

Before she could run, a figure came out from the shadow in front of her. Long, wide pronounced, moving forward with an unnatural grace. a werewolf

Mira's pulse increased at the sight of the figure which also made her freeze. Her first instinct was to run, but his feet felt heavy. The werewolf's golden eyes remained on her, which made her heart seize. He was getting closer to her, and there was nowhere to go now.

"You are now in my area," the werewolf increased, his voice was rough. "And I do not take humility for the intruders.

Mira's breath caught in her throat, her mind seriously searching for a way out. She'd read about rogue werewolves before, but nothing had prepared her for the real thing. There was no way she was going to reason with him, no way to excuse herself from this. She was out of options

The werewolf's lips opened to reveal sharp fangs that shone in the minimal light. His eyes glowed with a golden intensity that made her fear increase. He took a step closer, the air around them was thick and filled with danger.

"Dane won't save you now," he said, his voice filled with anger.

Her body acted before her mind could understand what was happening. She turned and ran, her feet pounding against the ground as she ran very fast down the alley, desperate to outrun the werewolf. But the rogue was faster. Much faster.

Before she could understand what was happening, he was already very close to her, he grabbed her by the arm and threw her around the place. Mira's body crashed against the brick wall of the alley. She tried to arrange her breath and immediately the werewolf was in front of her again, his eyes were filled with anger.

"You're not getting away that easily," he smiled, and he pushed her against the wall.

Mira's heart continued beating in her chest as she struggled to break free. Her breath came in bits but the werewolf's grip was like iron. He was too strong. She couldn't get away.

Before she could understand the amount of pain her body was having, the rogue werewolf jumped forward, his teeth were aimed directly at her throat. Mira raised her arm in self-defense, trying to protect herself, but it had no effect. She screamed at the serious pain she experienced.

The world turned around her as the rogue's fangs went deeper into her, the pain went through her entire body. Mira's head turned, and her vision became blurry as she knelt down immediately with her head placed on the ground. She could feel the werewolf's teeth inside her flesh, his hold tightened around her.

The pain was serious. She couldn't think. Couldn't breathe.

But then, just as quickly as it had started, the werewolf moved back, his golden eyes still fixed on her as he let out a breath of satisfaction. Mira tried to arrange her breath, her body shaking as she struggled to remain conscious. She could feel the blood dripping down her neck, the wound still burning like fire. Her body felt hot, fever came over her in the instant period as she noticed something was shifting inside her.

The rogue shifted backward and said with a low voice. "That'll teach you not to involve yourself in things you don't understand."

Mira's vision was still blurry. She could hear the sound of her heartbeat, but everything around her seemed far, unorganized.

With her mouth widely open, struggling to stay upright as the rogue stepped back, watching her closely. But it wasn't fear that she felt anymore. It was something else, something original. Something dangerous.

Mira's mind was trying to keep her head clean. She wasn't sure what was happening to her but she felt change in her. She knew it was either the bite or something else but there was a change in her.

"Get up," the rogue said with a smile why mocking her. "You'll find it harder to survive now."

Mira's body was burning, the pain moving through her system because her muscles were in pain. She felt the feeling was getting stronger; this heat, this power, was building inside her. She stumbled, trying to stand, her hands shaking. Her head was moving, but she could hear the rogue's mocking laughter sounding in her ears.

But then, something happened.

It was as if a switch had been on inside of her. Mira's body was shocked with a newfound strength, and the burning feeling increased. Her eyes blurred again, but this time, the world didn't feel as threatening. Instead, it felt... sharper. More alive.

The rogue's wicked smile disappeared, and his eyes became narrow as he saw the change in her. He retreated one step, his mind telling him to be cautious.

"What... what's happening to you?" he growled, his voice filled with confusion.

But Mira didn't answer. Her body was growing with energy, her skin was tingling with electric charge. She could feel her senses becoming sharp, every sound, every movement, every breath coming in a sharp focus. She felt alive in a way, that she was never before, a hunger building inside her that was impossible to ignore.

Without thinking, Mira moved.

And as the evil vengeance was about to take vengeance, Meera felt that the ground trembled under her feet. Something else was coming. Something big. Meera's eyes widened because she turned to see a huge figure emerging from the darkness of the street. It was more terrible than anything before. And this time, there was no part of avoiding it.

Her body rapidly reacted than her mind could maintain. She moved forward, her muscles pushed her to move forward with a speed and agility, she did not know she had. Before the rogue could react, Mira slammed him into the wall, her strength became heavy.

He cried out in pain, but Mira didn't stop.

The rogue stood to fight back, Mira felt the ground shake underneath her feet. Something else was coming. Something much bigger.

Mira's eyes widened as she turned to see a huge figure coming from the darkness of the alley. It was more terrible than anything she had ever seen before. And this time, there was no part of avoiding it.
