Chapter 4 - Old Memories

Princess Lira Crimson. Soon to be known as the Rebel Princess going against her father's rule.

A happy day. I was getting engaged to Kairos and the party was to be in couple of hours. My lady-in-waitings were stressing while I was calm. A perfect day.

During the party I sensed an aura. A powerful one. I decided to get closer to the source which led me to the balcony. Two people were there. I hid beside the door.

"The old man is now under my command." A female's voice.

"Be careful. The princess will find out." A male's voice.

What did they not want me to know? Who were they?

"Your Highness." Someone called my name. The butler. "Where are you going?"

Great. He blown my cover.

"Good evening, Sir Friar." I smiled. "I was simply going to get fresh air."

He nodded and walked away. I looked at the balcony. They were gone. Shit.

I decided to focus on the rest of the party.

Many people were congratulating us of getting engaged.

I was talking to someone, when from the corner of my eye I was a women in a black dress looking at me. I turned to get a proper look at her, and she disappeared. Strange.

The following week I was talking to Sera. She had lovely amethyst eyes. The King, my father, summoned her for a council meeting, which I was not allowed to enter. I always attended these.

Sera ran towards me after a while, panic on her face. Horror draws to me when I realized she had gone blind.

"No time for questions. First secure Uhar, Stars and Reylof. I'll explain later." Her voice was shaky.

I did as she said. We escaped the palace after I packed some things. I had enough money to buy a manor in Uhar.

"Your father is changing his rule. He wants to control the people of Kyto. Control their minds and their actions. I opposed to his idea. I told him he was going mad. He couldn't kill me because I was the Oracle. Instead he punished me by taking away my sight. You must stop him. I had gotten a warning from the Gods to hide these cities as soon as I lost mysight."

What was going on with my father? He was a sweet and kind old man. Why would he suddenly want to control everything?

I told the people of these cities that they weren't allowed to step outside of these places. Some got angry and hadn't heeded my warning. They ended up under my father's control. Others listened and tried not to go outside of the place.

Later, I was dragged to the palace by the guards. I had to come face-to-face with my father.

"You betrayed me, my daughter." He spoke codly. The light and warmness in his eyes, extinushed.

"This is madness,father."

"Sometimes, madness is needed to set things right. These people only want power. They attack each other for it like bloodthirsty animals. I can set it right. I can stop them."

"This isn't right. You can't control them."

"DO NOT TELL ME WHAT OR WHAT NOT TO DO! I AM THE HOLLOW KING. YOU SHALL HEED MY CONTROL!"

My father tried to control me. I was immune to it. I took this as a chance to escape. I managed to escape the palace. People on the streets started to attack me. My father must have told them to do so. I barely managed to make it to Uhar.

I told everything to Kairos. I started an organisation to take down the Hollow King. The Unchained. Kairos developed a weapon to use it against the Hollow King. Sera started to get used to her blindness. She can see without using her eyes. I started to train the people in The Unchained for a rebellion.

The people in the organisation are the ones that are immune to the Hollow Kings control.

We started attacking the Hollow King months later with preparations.

I was able to come face-to-face with the Hollow King.

Some part of me thought that maybe my father was in there. Maybe, he didn't go completely senile.

Maybe he was being controlled by someone else.

I looked in his eyes. There was nothing. He didn't recognize me as his daughter. Just a threat.

Fighting him was tough. He was more experienced than I. He defeated me a lot when we were sparring. How could I manage to defeat him in a life or death situation?

Somehow, I did. He was on the floor, with my sword at him. Kairos handed me the weapon. I raised the weapon to attack him with it.

I stopped midway.

Pain. A sharp pain through my abdomen. Blood leaking through my mouth. I was stabbed in the back.

I turned around to see. It was hazy. I could faintly hear Kairos shouting my name. The figure. I recognized the figure. It was the women wearing the black dress at my engagement party.

My legs gave up, I was losing a lot of blood. I fell to the floor. Was this really how it ended?

Such a pathetic life. I couldn't be the hero. I couldn't save my people.

I couldn't save my father.
