I woke up, breathless and sweating. My head was throbbing in pain. My body ached. Was this the after effect of getting my memories back?
My memories. They were back. Then why is it that mosts parts of my memories are really hazy? I thought I got them all back. Maybe all of it wasn't going to come in a single day.
I was the daughter of the Hollow King. How did that work in this life? It doesn't make sense. How was I born?
Seraphine was on the side of my bed.
"Sera? Is something wrong?" It wasn't like her to watch me sleep. The thought of that makes her look creepy.
"You remember." She smiled softly.
"How-"
How did she know? Then again she was the Oracle, so she must know a lot of things.
"I allowed only you to call me that." She stood up. "You should get ready and head downstairs. Kairos is waiting. You guys should leave quickly for Stars. It's a long journey."
Why was Kairos coming?
I got ready and headed downstairs. I didn't have much to pack. If I needed new clothes, I could buy them. Kairos was at the bottom of the staircase, waiting. He had an annoyed look on his face.
It's not like I want you to come with me too, dipshit.
We were supposed to travel by a carriage. Princess Lira might be comfortable travelling by a carriage. I'm not sure about street rat Lira.
Before we entered the carriage, Sera gave me bag. It contained money, water and medicine.
I thanked her and we left.
I could feel Kairos glaring at me, as I look out the window.
I sighed. "What it it?" I met his eyes.
"What do you mean?" His demeanor towards me did not change.
How was this man meant to be the one I was going to marry ?
"Ever since I came, you've been acting as if you want to kill me." I crossed my arms.
He scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"If you got your memories back, you should know that's how I normally act."
"It's still hazy genius. I don't even remember how we first met." I rolled my eyes.
"You don't?" His tone sounded genuinely surprised.
"No. Why are you on this trip anyways?"
"The person who made the weapon can activate it. Plus, I was also sent to to protect you."
"I can protect myself asshole."
I don't know if it was something I said, but it made him chuckle a bit.
Hours in, I was bored. Kairos was sleeping. How boring was he?
I tried to think about the prophecy.
The woman thought lost, now walks once more,
Her name stained red in legend and lore.
With shackles unbound, her chains set free,
She severs the ties of destiny.
A choice awaits, a fate untold—
To spare her blood, or let steel run cold.
Women thought lost, now walks once more. That women would be me. People thought I was dead, and I'm alive and well right now.
Her name stained red in legend and lore. I was close to defeat my father, but couldn't. And it happened more than 4000 years ago, so I would be a legend. My last name is Crimson, a shade of red.
With shackles unbound, her chains set free. Could this mean me regaining my memories and I'm not under the control of the Hollow King?
She severs the ties of destiny. I honestly have no fucking clue what this means.
A choice awaits, a fate untold. Maybe this links to the before one. I make a choice not even destiny can interfere?
To spare her blood, or let steel run cold. My blood. My father, the Hollow King. Obviously. I thought I was to kill him. It was the more obvious answer.
"Lira!" Kairos was now next to me, screaming in my ear like a fucking maniac.
"What? You don't have to yell in my ear."
"I called your name a thousand times already, you weren't responding. What were you even thinking about?"
"None ya business."
He scoffed.
"Anyways, the coachman said that the route we're travelling in is blocked, so we should arrive in another day or two. We're stopping here for the night."
Great. I get to spend more time with this idiot. How lucky am I? (It's sarcasm by the way.)
We went to book rooms in a motel in a town nearby. Preferably two seperate rooms. And they had it.
Hell yeah.
I went to explore the town for any food or clothes.
Might I say, I have the worst luck ever? The clothes I bought were good and fine. The food was delicious. But the room.
The room was fine too. Just not the people next to me. I wanted to sleep. The journey was tiring. I plopped on the bed ready for a good relaxing time to sleep. As soon as I shut my eyes, the people in the next room were freaky.
I groaned and put a pillow over my head. How loud was this woman?
I had enough and went to the room Kairos was in. Thankfully his room was far away from that room.
I knocked on his door.
He opened it. It didn't look like he was sleeping.
"Lira? What are you doing here at this hour? You know a man's gonna get a wrong idea." he smirked, leaned against the door frame, crossing his arms.
I rolled my eyes. Did he change personalities?
"Can we exchange rooms?"
"Why?" He sounded skeptical.
"My neighbors are freaky today."
He bursted out laughing.
"So can we switch?"
"No. I'm not going to fall asleep with that noise."
I grumbled.
"We can share a room" He suggested.
"Great idea. I'm sleeping on the floor." I entered his room. There was an extra mattress. I set it up for me to sleep.
"You're not sleeping on the floor." He scoffed.
"Then you sleep in the floor, I sleep on the bed." I get up from the mattress on the floor.
"That's not what I meant. I'm not sleeping on the floor. No one is."
"What's wrong princess? Scared of bugs?" I teased.
"You're the princess here, not me." He tried to defend himself.
"I'm sleeping on the floor. No way in hell will I sleep next to you. We might have been engaged in our past life, but not in this life. So by the meantime, we're sleeping separately." I lay down on the mattress.
"So you plan to marry me in this life too?" He smirked slyly.
I threw a pillow at him. "Shut up. That's not what I meant."
I don't know when I fell asleep, but it was nice with the quietness.
Until I had another memory flashback that it.
