The boys fell asleep halfway through the movie. Roman made his way to the computer. Since he could not sleep might as well get some work done. The fight with Jason replayed over in his head.
"What would've happened if Izzy hadn't called me? Where was security? Why did the police take so long?" Roman had so many questions.
What Isabella said was the truth. Jason is a deadbeat. He hasn't paid a single thing in child support.
"Truth hurts I guess "Roman thought as he scrolled down the website.
He hoped that he would receive a call from Ben tomorrow.
While he was staring at the screen, he felt something tugging at his pants. Looking down he saw Teddy's and Leo's hands. His eyes were filled tears. His little hand clutched Roman's pants tightly.
"Uncle Roman does my dad hate us?" Teddy asked.
Roman didn't have answer.
"Hey little man come here" Roman said lifting the twins up.
Roman carried Teddy and Leo for a while. He hated that the boys were going through this. He just carried them. He did his best to comfort them. Teddy's and Leo's head rested on Roman's shoulders.
If he could knock all of Jason's teeth out he would. No child should question their parents love for them. Especially children as young as the twins. They haven't lived long enough to understand. It isn't their fault their father is the way he is.
He finally got them calm. He placed them back on the couch. Roman's going to return to the computer but decided to go lay down. He knew exactly what the twins were going through. He was that kid. The kid that felt unloved.
The rest of the night was quiet. The boys slept the rest of the night.
In the morning a knock at the door woke Roman.
"Baby!" the person called.
Opening the door, he saw Morgan and Heather. Morgan, wearing a light blue outfit that showed off all her curves. Heather is wearing a beautiful green dress. Morgan and Heather had dropped Isabella off at the airport.
He had an idea. Today might be the perfect day to go downtown. The weather was going to perfect. Today it is going to 70 degrees and sunny. They could have a picnic.
Roman went over to the couch to wake up the boys. Teddy rubbed his eyes. Leo turned over. He tried to knock Roman's hand away.
"Leo is like 40-year-old man in a 4-year old's body." Isabella would joke.
It took an extra 15 minutes but Roman finally got Leo up. Leo pouted and whined the whole time he got ready.
"He really hates being woke up." Roman mumbled under his breath.
With everyone dressed Roman got everyone in the car. He packed all the essentials for picnic.
The drive downtown was filled with laughs. Morgan sat in the back with the twins. She tickled Leo. He was laughing so hard he was crying. Her hand reached over Leo tickling Teddy's neck. Teddy kicked wildly as he laughed. Heather sat up front with Roman.
He pulled into a parking lot. The riverwalk was crowded. Families fishing and having picnics. Laughs, conversations, and the sounds of the water echoed in the air.
Roman walked on the side closest to the water. Morgan held his hand Heather walked on the other side closest to the grass. The twins were in between Heather and Morgan. It was hard to find a place to sit for a picnic. So, they abandoned the idea all together. Instead, they went to one of the many restaurants nearby.
"Sonny's Burger Bar."The sign reads.
The restaurant was crowded. There was 30-minute wait for a table. His phone buzzed it was Isabella.
"Hey Babe, just wanted to let you know that I landed. I'm in my Uber on my way to the hotel Thank you for looking after the boys. Also thank you for coming last night." Isabella said.
"No problem at all. I love you and the boys. You guys will never have to worry about a thing as long as I'm around." He replied.
Roman looked at Morgan and Heather. They were pouting.
"You hear that Morgan, he loves her" Heather said winking at Morgan.
"I guess we are just chopped liver or chitlings or something." Morgan responded laughing.
One of the workers finally led them to a table. At the table Morgan and Heather continued teasing Roman.
Roman playfully sigh and rolled his eyes.
"I'm in love with y'all too." Roman turned the tables.
Heather buried her face into her hands. Morgan's face had turned completely red.
Roman decided to keep his little game going. Pulling out his phone he made a group chat. He added Morgan, Isabella, and Heather.
"I want all you to have my children" That is the first message he sent.
He received a shocked emoji from Izzy. Heather and Morgan both chocked on their drinks.
"I need a yes or no answer right now from all you" He sent in the group chat.
There was a pause. Morgan was just staring at her phone screen. Heather had turned her phone screen down on the table.
"Yes" Morgan sent.
"Yes" Isabella replied.
"Yes" Heather answered.
Roman grinned.
Everyone got up for their first plate. Burgers, fries, and shakes covered their table. Laughs filled the restaurant. Before long Roman was up getting his second plate. He took Leo with him because little man wanted another shake.
The meal was finished. Everyone was nice and full. Morgan burped the sound startling Heather. Morgan looked away in embarrassment. Leo and Teddy were fast asleep in the car.
The drive home was mostly silent. The only noise was Heather's snoring. This time Heather sat in the back so Morgan could sit up front. Roman placed his hand on Morgan's thigh. A spark went down her spine.
"I want you when we get back." Roman whispered in her ear.
Morgan looked out the window pretending she didn't hear what he had said. She started whistling when his hand rubbed her lower back.
"I know you heard" Roman said squeezing her thigh.
"Ahhh Daddy" Morgan moaned.
