Chapter 10 - Side Effect

He tried to push his thoughts aside "Ah... it's nothing

"But you've been sitting here lost in thought for a long time" she said "Come on, tell me Is something bothering you?"

He sighed "No, it's nothing important" After a pause "Actually, I bought a body-strengthening technique yesterday, but when I practiced it, there was no effect"

He shook his head "Maybe I got scammed"

She tilted her head "Hmm... what kind of technique?"

He couldn't tell her it was related to dual cultivation

He sighed again "Forget it It doesn't matter now"

For a moment she remained silent, "...."

Her thoughts lingered. After all these years, even she couldn't understand it. What could be the reason behind this? Why couldn't he cultivate? or maybe he possessed a different kind of physique... actually beyond her comprehension But she kept a smile on her face.

"Hmm... don't think too much" she said, tapping two fingers on his forehead "There are many different techniques in this world some just take time to show result"

A small smile appeared on his face. She raised an eyebrow "Smiling, Huh..?" With a slight grin, she took out a scroll from her ring and placed it on the table "You can try this in the meantime"

Wang Jie looked at it, surprised "This..."

"It's a sensory technique," she said calmly and stood up from her seat.

Wang Jie picked up the scroll, and suddenly, a system prompt appeared before him.

-----

[Analyzing Technique…]

Identifying Sensory Abilities…

...

[Temporary Analysis]

Technique: Low Void Eye

Rank: (Nearly) Zun Grade

[Analyzing further…]

...

Wang Jie was shocked 'Zun Grade?'

Zun Rank... Techniques of this level weren't just strong—they were forces capable of shaking mountains, splitting seas. Rare, coveted, and often locked away in the hands of powerful sects, royal bloodlines, or ancient inheritance sites. To wield one was to step into the realm of true elites.

Yet, what he had wasn't a battle technique. 'A sensory technique?' He quickly stood up "Miss Wei, where did you get this technique?"

She remained calm "Hmm... I bought it from my hometown."

"Your hometown... I see..." Wang Jie composed himself back "By the way, where is it?"

"I'll tell you, but you need to grow a little more first" she said with a slight smile, patting his head

"Do you think I'm a five-year-old kid?"

Wang Jie was curious because she had been using this same excuse since his childhood

Her expression changed "Hmm... okay, I'll tell you after you learn this technique"

Wang Jie blinked "Huh?"

Saying this, she turned and walked away "Your third uncle is coming in the morning, so try to wake up early"

With those parting words, she left, her figure disappearing into the dimly lit corridor.

....

....

As she walked through the corridor, she muttered to herself, "It's been a long time since I last wore this dress" But suddenly, something struck her "Uh… I almost forgot…" she murmured, pausing mid-step.

....

On the other hand, Wang Jie sat back down, staring at the scroll in his hands 'Where did she get this? And what the hell did she mean by "grow first?" Just trying to act like some wise lady'

He let out a deep breath, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling creeping into his mind. 'Come to think of it, the only thing I really know about her is that she's uncle Yunfei's wife. Her nature is just like her looks elegant, calm... always too nice to Wang Jie, even since his childhood'

Then, His eyes fell downward on his stirred up dragon, as if it were about to tear through his robes "What's wrong with this Guy"

"..."

"...."

"Fuck! did she saw this... Is this why she said grow up" He dragged a hand over his face, heat prickling his skin

"Shit"

....

After a moment he sighed and shook his head 'Aiye... I'll think about it later Let's check the technique first'

But, As he stood up and walked forward, something felt off. His body reacted strangely, heat surging with every step. His blood boiled like molten lava, his breath turned heavy, and lastly his dragon standing more hard like made of stone

"Damm!... What the hell!"

Without a second thought, he rushed to his room. As he entered, he slammed the door shut.

[THUD]

"What the fuck is happening" His restlessness was growing. he walked here and there in his room. He was feeling like he is not fully conscious like he is drunk heavily.

"I... I need something... right now..." He tried to calm himself he sat cross legged on his bed and start taking deep breaths.

....

{30 MINUTES PASSED}

He was still in same condition

.....

{1 HOUR PASSED}

.....

{1: 30 HOUR LATER}

Finally, his body settled, the burning sensation fading "Shit.... What was that"

"Is this some kind of side effect from Heavenly Dragon Yin Harmony"

He sighed "I need to pay visit to that old man" Reaching into his storage ring, he retrieved the scroll "But it's too early to sleep yet," he muttered

As he was about to open it when—

[Knock] [Knock]

He exhaled, keeping scroll back in storage ring "Hell....."

"Come in"

[CREAK]

The door slid open with a soft creak. A figure stepped inside, moonlight spilling over delicate features, casting long shadows across the room. The faint rustle of fabric, the scent of something familiar yet, for a moment, he couldn't quite place it.

Then, as she moved forward, the dim light revealed her face. His breath hitched.

"Ruyan"

Ruyan stepped, her movements graceful, almost deliberate. The dim light of the room danced across her face, highlighting the curve of her smile. She was dressed in a thin robe, the fabric clinging to her body, leaving little to the imagination. Her eyes locked onto his, filled with a playful glint

"Still awake, Master?"
