Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 18: ESCAPING THE RUINS PT.2

After finishing his demonstration of the belt's abilities, they continued their journey, They found a wall where they needed to climb to proceed. Kratos goes first, where Atreus jumped on his back, followed by Deimos, who was observing his back with if someone suddenly attacked them from behind.

"We never did quite figure out why that stranger suddenly attacked us," Atreus said.

"Maybe, he's just finding someone and mistaken us for who his real target is," Deimos answered his brother, knowing that it was Faye that Baldur was searching, not Kratos; he just happened to meet Kratos and assumed it was him, considering he was a visitor from another land.

"Speak no further, I already told you, I know nothing of it," Kratos said while continuing the climb until they reached an entrance connected to the inner cave system and structures within the ruins. After that, they explored the entrance when suddenly, 10 more revenants appeared; they did not have belts like the one revenant that Deimos fought so they are much weaker.

"Hey, they are not wearing the belt like the one you fought Deimos," Atreus said.

"You are right, I don't even know why," Deimos said, playing dumb.

"Watch their poison, Father, Deimos," Atreus shouted, concerned.

"Focus on firing your weapon," Kratos said while firing his axe, which missed since they are all more capable of teleporting, unlike the opponent of Deimos earlier, who rely on brute considering they have stronger strength.

"Father, I think they are faster than you are," Atreus said to Kratos.

"But not your bow, keep firing at them," Kratos said to Atreus, while Deimos was busy killing one of the revenants. When it teleported, he also teleported near it while punching with his full strength, and the revenant just collapsed after being hit.

Deimos then watched as Kratos used his experience to fight the more agile revenants, while Atreus was also trying his hardest to help. He then targeted another revenant, using the same method he used when he killed the same; they finished defeating them after a few minutes passed.

After the fight was finished, making sure there weren't any enemies left, they continued their climb to the top until they found an enclosure where they needed to walk on foot. After a while, they found a Jotnar Shrine.

"Boy, there's another one right here," Kratos calls Atreus.

" It says his name is 'Hrungnir'. Mother told me about him… a Giant warrior, made of stone. Looks like he was in a pretty big battle… Odin's there… Thor… even the World Serpent? Aw, Thor must have smashed his head apart, see? But look. Hrungnir's body squished him. Idiot…" Atreus commented on Thor after reading the contents.

"It sounds like a fun battle if a lot of main fighters are there, doesn't it, Father?" Deimos asked Kratos.

"This is not a battle, it is a war, a War that costs him his life," Kratos said to Deimos.

"Don't you believe a war to save oneself is a war worth dying for?" Deimos asked Kratos, who just looked at him and grunted approvingly. They continued exploring the ruins while encountering enemies along the way, they all killed them with ease, while continuing.

"You say someone might come and rob us along the way, I'll kill them if I have to. I'm not afraid." Atreus said to Kratos.

"If we encounter men, you will stay out of it, understand?" Kratos immediately said.

"But what about Deimos? He's only a few seconds older than me, but he gets to fight? I can fight now, too." Atreus defended himself, while Deimos just looked at him.

"You don't have to fight, I'm here, I can fight for the both of us." Deimos said.

"But I-" Atreus tried to defend himself more but then Kratos interrupted him.

"You will stay out of it, boy. Speak no more of this. Atreus," Kratos reprimanded.

They just continued their journey, with Deimos talking with his system.

'System, what is the best labor that can be used here? In these ruins'

[Host can choose the Mares of Diomedes, we can associate it with Sleipnir's blood, considering that the Host is in the God of War universe and not the original Norse Myth where Loki is the father of the creature, here, it was known that Ymir is the one source of the bloodline of this horse, it can be a bloodline, which made the horse have this ungodly strength and ungodly speed]

'Really? Great! If I summon it, would I need to kill all of the 4?'

[Host can permit if Kratos or Atreus killed one, it will be tamed by them, but you will have the strongest version of all. If you give one to Kratos and one to Atreus, and then you can also have two, then it will combine into a 1 if you wish.]

'Great, then I would permit if both Kratos and Atreus kill the mares, make them be able to tame it, also do not combine the Mares, I have a plan for them.'

[Summoning 8th Labor......5..........4.........3.........2........1......]

[Labor summoned, just waiting for the host to encounter them on the journey]

Deimos then just continued his adventure until they reached a room, where a lot of dead bodies were piled outside.

"Do you think it's safe in there?" Atreus asked concerningly.

"Do you have any concerns?" Deimos asked,

"Yes, with this amount of bones here, what do you think happened in this place?" Atreus explained his concerns.

"Do not think of it, we will continue our journey, any obstacle we face, we will face it head on" Kratos said to Atreus. When they went inside the room, suddenly they heard a shout.

"NOW," a person hiding suddenly shouted, when suddenly the door slum shut.

"So many days without meat, now we can eat." Another person came out of hiding.

"What meat?" Atreus asked.

"They meant us, remember what I said earlier?" Deimos reminded,

"OHHH, THE CANNIBALS," Atreus said.

"Leave them to us, boy, just find a great place to hide," Kratos said when suddenly more than a hundred men came out of hiding.

"How can we divide them into us?" The person said,

"The same as always, the person who killed them will be the deciding factor on who will choose," Another answered. This seems to motivate them into fighting with even more ferocity.

Deimos just summoned his pillar and was ready to strike any time the enemies engaged, while Kratos readied his Leviathan Axe and Atreus armed his bow.
