Chapter 5 - revelation!

"Yes, ma'am. It's a miracle she didn't suffer a miscarriage from such a height of falling."

The doctor reassured, looking at her clipboard.

"Dear me! Didn't you just say she's pregnant?"

Gabby said, still in shock, struggling to comprehend the news.

"Yes, ma'am. Miss Silva is five weeks gone."

After the doctor left, Gabby turned back to Lucius, who was unfazed by the news.

"She took after her mother. So following in her footsteps is inevitable."

Lucius scoffed, still indifferent to the revelation.

"Now I'm curious what that old hag will think of this news."

Lucius smirked as he released a puff of air.

"Getting rid of her now will be much easier than I anticipated."

A Day later, June stood by Silva's bedside, looking down at her still-unconscious figure.

"You thought you could outrun me, huh?"

She smirked, glaring menacingly.

"No one ever told you that i despise your existence? That's why you're treated like one."

"Oh my... look at me, talking to an unconscious being."

June chuckled, lifting her head and running her fingers along the tip of her knife. A twisted smile curled on her lips.

"Or should I say... soon-to-be dead?"

"Maybe redefining that face of yours might add to your impending package of rejection."

Just then, a knock sounded at the door, followed by familiar voices chatting.

June quickly slipped the knife away, straightened herself, and turned to greet her visitor.

"Oh, greetings, Miss Elaine."

June smiled, walking toward Elaine Brando.

"Oh dear, looking as pretty as always, my dear."

Elaine said warmly as June leaned in to greet her with forced kisses on the cheek.

"Oh, thank you, ma'am,"

June replied sweetly, her smile barely masking the bitterness behind it.

"Just you wait, hag,"

June thought in disgust.

"The nerve to choose Silva over me for Christian!"

Just then, June acted to just noticed her father.

"Oh, Father's here too? Please, have a seat. I'm done here anyway,"

June said, stepping away from Silva's bedside.

"It's fine, dear. I just dropped by to say hello to her... and congratulate her on her pregnancy,"

Elaine replied.

"But it looks like she's still asleep,"

Elaine added, a hint of disappointment in her tone.

June caught the subtle shift in Elaine's voice, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of satisfaction.

"How hilarious..."

"How hilarious is this..."

June thought in twisted delight.

"To see a woman who admired you just days ago now looking disappointed. It must be crushing, isn't it, Silva?"

Her discreet, diabolical smirk widened.

"Oh, Miss Elaine, how thoughtful of you to check on my sister,"

June said sweetly, embracing Elaine in a brief hug.

"But rest assured, she'll be back on her feet soon,"

she added, her smirk lingering as her eyes flicked back to Silva.

"I'm just getting started, Silva!"

"Marrying Christian on my watch is impossible — as long as I live."

June sneered, her gaze fixed on the bedridden Silva.

Moments later, a knock at the door interrupted her. A maid entered, followed by a stranger.

"And you are?"

Lucius questioned coldly, frowning.

"Greetings, Mr. Lucius. My name is Michael,"

the man introduced himself with a smile.

"I'm here to claim my unborn child."

"Oh? So you're the one who impregnated my dear sister, huh?"

June said, striding toward him.

"My apologies," Michael replied earnestly.

"I didn't know she was pregnant until now. But believe me, I'm ready to take responsibility."

Lucius' lips curled into a smile — one that only June recognized for what it truly was.

"I see... Well then, come with me."

Lucius said, his gaze sharp.

June instantly caught the underlying message. That smile wasn't one of acceptance — it was far more calculating.

"Um, Father," June began smoothly,

"Miss Elaine is still here. I don't mind taking Michael to your office to wait for you."

"Bet he wouldn't want to make a scene in front of her,"

June thought, watching her father closely.

"It's alright, June," Lucius replied with a thin smile.

"After all, I'm sure Miss Elaine won't mind. This is an important family matter — involving my beloved daughter, no less."

"You're right, Lucius. Please, don't mind me,"

Elaine said reassuringly, her expression composed.

"What?! How did things turn out this way?!"

June's mind raced, the unexpected curveball leaving her on edge.

She knew she had to protect Michael from the impending danger.

"I'll be on my way, Lucius," Elaine said, preparing to leave.

"Okay. And please — I'd love to hear your feedback," Lucius responded in a seemingly friendly tone.

"Of course, Lucius," Elaine replied before stepping out.

As soon as the door closed, Lucius' gaze turned cold and sinister as he glared at Michael. Moments later, that twisted smile returned.

"This man is just insufferable," June thought, her nerves tightening.

Lucius stepped closer to Michael, his voice low and menacing.

"Are you sure that child belongs to you?"

He leaned in closer, his breath hot against Michael's ear.

"Because in my household, every member is tracked... by me."

Lucius' words dripped with threat.

"Damn this trash," June cursed internally, but she had anticipated this. Her eyes flicked toward Michael, bracing for his response.

Michael smiled calmly, unfazed.

" Mr. Lucius, I'm quite aware of that," he began smoothly.

"But she told me about it. Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising if Silva — being as clever as she is — found a way around it. She's always been smart enough to make things work for us."

His confident smile matched Lucius' menacing energy, refusing to back down.

"Good job!" June thought proudly. Michael had successfully turned the focus away from himself and pinned the bold move on Silva instead.

"For a creep Simp, you're truly competent," June smirked faintly, her respect for Michael rising.

"Well, mind stepping into my office then?"

Lucius said, his voice calm but laced with hidden malice as he turned and walked away.

June's eyes narrowed as she noticed the shift in her father's posture — stiff, calculated.

"I trust you'll come back alive," she thought grimly, her gaze following Michael.

Once they were gone, June turned her attention to the sleeping Silva.

"Your days are numbered here," she muttered with a cold smile, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
