Chapter 14 - The King and his Queen, or king and his Pawn? (1)

As Christian stepped away from Silva's ward.

"How does it feel to have his own daughter against him?" he mused with a smirk, recalling Silva's idea.

"Though I originally planned to bring him down myself, having his own daughter do the job with my support seems far more entertaining." His gaze darkened coldly.

"Now that I think about it—"

His thoughts were abruptly cut short as he noticed June struggling against the nurses, shoving them aside in a fit of rage.

Christian snapped his fingers, signaling his security guards to assist the nurses in restraining her.

"She's quite strong for a woman her age," he thought coldly.

As Christian stepped into the room, June glared at him before breaking into a sly smile.

"I'm quite disappointed in you, brother-in-law," she sneered. "Seriously, I didn't think your taste was this bad."

Suddenly, Christian grabbed June by the neck, his grip tightening as he leaned in, his voice dripping with menace beside her ear.

"And you think you're some kind of exceptional individual to be worthy of my attention?"

June's eyes widened in fear as she struggled, clawing at his single-handed grip, but his strength was overwhelming as a still rock.

"Besides, aren't you proudly engaged to Branden?" Christian sneered, his piercing gaze locking onto hers.

With a violent shove, he flung her backward. She crashed onto the hospital bed, her head hitting the pillow as she gasped for air, coughing.

"Be grateful I didn't let you meet your alternative fate right now," Christian muttered coldly, his expression dark.

Then, lowering his voice to a whisper, he added, "But make no mistake—try any more clownish behavior, and you might just meet your predestined end in my hands."

Meanwhile, hidden behind the June ward wall, Silva watched the scene unfold, her lips curling into a ghostly smirk.

"Oh my… how heartbreaking is this?" she mused mockingly. "To watch the man she so desperately wants to separate me from look at her with nothing but full-fledged contempt."

Noticing Christian preparing to leave, Silva hastily turned towards the bathroom, slipping away with her assigned nurse.

As Christian exited June's ward, he immediately noticed Silva's presence. A smirk tugged at his lips.

"Quite impressive how she's so determined to uncover my true motives regarding my request for a child," he mused, walking off.

He found Silva to be an unusually intelligent individual—one who didn't simply go with the flow of life but actively shaped her own destiny. His smirk widened as he stepped into the elevator.

"I suppose her past trauma molded her, not as a victim of her abusive family, but as someone who refuses to be broken."

His thoughts lingered on her potential.

"All she needed was the freedom I offered her—to finally spread her wings."

Anticipation flickered in his gaze. He was eager to see what she would do with the power of choice he had given her.

"Whether she soars higher than them or merely rises to their level, staying grounded is certainly not an option for her."

Settling into his car as the driver sped off, Christian leaned back, deep in thought.

"The real question is—will she exceed the limits of the freedom I've granted her?"

His smirk widened, his expression darkening.

"After all, humans have a tendency to overindulge in newfound excitement… especially freedom."

days later, Silva was finally discharged from the hospital. As she stepped out of the car, she suddenly felt herself being lifted off the ground—Christian had picked her up in a bridal carry. Startled, she instinctively clung to him.

"You slightly scared me," she said coldly, masking her fear.

Christian, however, could see right through her. His smirk deepened. " as usual my guess is spot on," he mused she flinches easily.

"Her body is has been traumatized into easily flinching."

"The doctor said walking in your current state isn't advisable, so why not help my dear wife?" Christian continued, carrying her inside as the lined-up maids subtly side-glanced at them.

Silva took note of the maids' expressions. "I see… so he's truly monitoring me."

She had already suspected, combine with when a few guards had been assigned to her at the hospital, allowing June to slip in. "Though I chose to remain still and not leave my room, how did he know exactly what the doctor said without being there?" A faint smile played on her lips.
