Chapter 27
The carefully planned engagement has turned into a farce. As the guests whispered and sighed, Megan felt humiliated and sat on the ground, covering her face and crying.
Adrian glanced briefly at the woman beside him, showing impatience on his face. He quickly lifted his feet to catch up with Manon's retreating figure.
Suddenly, a voice full of intimidation came from behind, "Adrian, where are you going?!"
Mr Anderson frowned, trying to suppress his anger. The Anderson family had become a laughingstock, and if Adrian was allowed to leave, his family would truly be finished!
Hearing her father's words, Megan gained some confidence. She wiped away her tears and said, "Adrian, you are engaged to me, and I have the token. You cannot break the engagement!"
As she spoke, she even felt a little smug. Adrian wanted to dump her like this? No way!
After listening to the two, Adrian sneered without hesitation. His lips curled up slightly, showing a hint of disdain.
"Mr Anderson, Megan, you seem to have forgotten something." Adrian's eyes flashed, and a sinister look appeared on his face."Just now, my uncle severed ties with your family. Without him , do you think my family would be afraid of your family?"
He glanced down at the disheveled Megan , bent down, lifted her chin with one hand, and spoke in a cold and biting tone. "Besides, the current head of the Anderson family is Manon. What do you have to fight against me?"
Mr Anderson face instantly became stiff. He trembled, wanting to refute but had nothing to say.
Adrian was right. The Anderson family was now just an empty shell.
Megan's eyes were filled with tears. She wanted to hold Adrian's hand , but he ruthlessly pushed her away. The man slowly took off his wedding ring and placed it in front of her .
"Adrian, no! You can't do this to me..." Megan's's rationality was consumed, and she begged with a low voice.
"I'll send the token to my family, and our engagement will be cancelled." Adrian stood up resolutely and left the banquet without looking back. After his figure disappeared, the guests at the banquet no longer concealed their expressions, looking at the Anderson family with mockery in their eyes.
Manon was led out of the banquet hall by Louis . It wasn't until then that she slowly came back to her senses. She looked down at their hands holding each other and frowned imperceptibly before slowly pulling away.
Feeling the girl behind him struggling, Louis didn't say anything and just slowly let go of her hand.
"Why did you come?" Manon looked at the man in front of her with confusion.
"Of course, I was afraid you would be bullied by them alone." Louis spoke frankly, his eyes clear.
Hearing his caring words, Manon was moved and felt a warm sense of being protected. Her lips moved,about to say something, but then a voice came from behind.
"Manon ." Adrian ran up to the two of them, panting, and stood in front of Manon.
Upon hearing Adrian's affectionate address, Manon immediately frowned, her eyes flashing with disgust.
"Mr Adrian, I think it's better if you call me Mrs Malcolm." Her tone was indifferent and distant, her expression as cold as ever.
Seeing her like this, a smile appeared on Louis lips, and his mood improved significantly.
Adrian, however, ignored Manon's words and smiled as he approached, wanting to hold her hand, but was avoided by her stepping back.
"If you likes the feeling of being thrown over the shoulder, I don't mind letting you experience it again." Remembering the painful feeling of being thrown over earlier, by Manon he couldn't help but shudder. Adrian smiled awkwardly, quickly withdrew his hand, and instead looked at Manon with tender eyes.
"Manon , I have already broken off the engagement with Megan." Adrian finished speaking and held out his hand, which had long since lost its wedding ring, eagerly showing it to her . Manon gave a cold glance and asked, "So what?"
"So?" Adrian obviously didn't expect her to ask that, and after a two-second pause, he replied, "So our engagement can continue. I really love you. Believe me, Megan and I were forced into it."
Ignoring the fact that Louis's face had turned black, Adrian continued to express his deep affection for Manon .
"Heh, you really love me?" Manon sneered. "Mr. Adrian, I'm afraid you're joking. I already have the best love, so there's no need to pick up any trash."
With that, she lowered her eyelids and slowly took Louis hand . Louis took her in his arms and left, leaving Adrian behind,
grinding his teeth in hatred.
