Chapter 10 - The Wisp of Annihilation
Once Vhelgarr looked inward, in a bid to draw that power that seemed to have boundless destructive potency, he abruptly caught sight of a tiny black wisp that seemed to have foreign qualities and attributes that he couldn't decipher.
Although it looked ordinary, like there was nothing special or remarkable about it, it however flooded him with a type of feeling that made him dread the wisp.
'Is this a part of that power?' He asked within himself, fully unsure of what it was.
But then, he felt that what would it be if not a fragment of that power. Or how would a wisp of alien energy get into his body and he wouldn't be alerted by it?
He was overly internally conscious for such a thing to happen. Besides, it was one habit he had ingrained in himself and burned into memory in his past life, after his body was almost taken over by a thread of powerful, possessive apparition energy in a legacy realm that he went to to acquire the vestige of an ancient saintly expert that was actually dubious and evil.
Placing his bet on it, he drew that wisp to the hand that held his sword, before trying to channel the energy into the sword's blade.
Heavily surprised that he easily controlled the energy like it was an extension of him, his mind surged with all sorts of thought. But he tried to control himself.
As soon as he did so—pulling the energy out of him and into his sword, Vhelgarr swung it in the direction of the Nhongluh tribesmen with the intention of annihilating them—which he hoped in really large numbers.
Immediately he did so, the sword abruptly fractured, exploding into countless pieces that disintegrated into nothing in the next second.
However, this was instantly followed by the thunderous eruption of a massive wave of alarming devastating power that spanned many feet.
This wave was so potent that the atmosphere—for hundreds of feet in all directions of it, cracked and explosively splintered, causing varying degrees of injuries to Vhelgarr, Nailah and many of the Blue Crescent Soldiers who after being greatly shocked, immediately backed away from the origin point of the wave, or they would be reduced to bloody splinters.
Even their glittering armors had lost their lustres as they were badly scratched, cut, worn and peeled all over, making them seem like they just came out of the mouth of a deadly grinding machine alive.
Whoosh!
The wave, once it surfaced, traveled so quickly in the direction of the Nhongluh tribesmen, allowing them no time to evade it as it caught up to them in the fraction of a second and instantly reduced their overwhelmingly large numbers to a number that was virtually nothing to worry about.
However, it didn't spare any structure in its wake as everything was turned into countless pieces.
It was simply like the wave consisted purely of millions of invisible serated blades that ground with great destructive efficiency and seemingly unbound wrath at everything in their paths.
Seeing how wild and vastly destructive the attack turned out to be, Vhelgarr shook his head in great awe, before saying within himself that this power would be extremely difficult for him to tame.
Then he decided in his heart that he was only going to use it as a last resort, or he would annihilate both friends and enemies if he were to ever unleash the power again. But then, he was going to learn to tame and manipulate it to his desire, just so that he could use it freely and soar to the zenith in their cruel, cold-blooded world.
He couldn't wait to dominate all battles that would involve him and have his name ring like unceasing thunderclaps in the ears and minds of his enemies.
Seeing how Vhelgarr single-handedly reduced a large number of their enemies to nothing in the east part of their kingdom, the soldiers who were absolutely shocked by such a power—which gave rise to a few seconds of grave silence in the battlefield, immediately shouted with vengeful excitement in their voices. Now, they could kill as they liked, sweeping through their enemies with unrestrained savagery until none were left.
Not caring one bit about the injuries that they all suddenly sustained when Vhelgarr unleashed that power, the Blue Crescent soldiers suddenly dashed towards the small remnants of their enemies now fleeing from them. Their sole intent was to brutally eliminate them, every single one of them till none were left.
Seeing how the battle suddenly turned in favor of the Blue Crescent soldiers, one of the five men standing on a distant mountain peak where he watched the battle, had his eyes gleam with a certain dreadful light after being shook to the depth of his being by an almost-irrecoverable shock.
"That stupid boy is the heir to the throne of this kingdom, right?" He asked with a heavy, angry, and highly frustrated voice.
"Correct." A middle-aged man in their midst replied.
Then he continued, "As for that little girl, that should be his sister. Together, they might be unstoppable and would take this kingdom to a great new height. We can't allow that to happen. We have to kill the both of them."
Immediately he said that, the other four men turned their heads to look at him, certain expressions weaved on their faces.
"When would that happen?" One directly asked with murderous intent reeking from his growling voice, which caused parts of his hair to turn from dark black to yellow, and his skin to turn dark metallic red.
"We have to be chill about this, or we would become suspects. That wouldn't go well for our schemes. But let's give it a year from now. By that time, they will cease to exist, and their kingdom, reduced to nothing but smouldering grey ashes."
"Good! We just can't afford for these guys to grow more than they already are, or it would upset the balance of certain machineries, as well as a whole lots of things that have been put in place by his esteemed, great highness."
...
Arryhiarr, who was watching the battle from the sky, keeping both eyes out for her kids and the soldiers of their kingdom, had them glitter with great marvel. She couldn't believe what she just witnessed.
Was it Nailah's fearlessness and decisiveness as she fought, or Vhelgarr's nimbleness and immense attacking power? Both caused her to produce a really wide smile on her face. She couldn't help but be more excited for their future and be really proud as a mother.
After some time, where they had entirely slain the enemies that suddenly invaded their kingdom, Vhelgarr said to Nailah with a smile on his face, "Nailah, so sorry about the injuries you suddenly sustained because of the attack I unleashed."
"I wasn't fully aware about its destructive capacity. So, I am really sorry about that."
With one of his eyebrows now raised as he gazed at her, he softly questioned "But, who taught you to fight and kill like you previously did in this battle? You were pretty amazing."
"You, obviously. If you were paying any attention, big brother." Nailah teased with a sly grin on her face, further confusing Vhelgarr who looked at her and shook his head.
Then he immediately came to the conclusion that Nailah didn't want to tell him, and that he wouldn't get anything even if he tried to force it right out of her, which of course he wouldn't do. His sister's secret was her secret, unless she was absolutely willing to share.
So, he simply gave up, briefly complaining within himself as he rolled his eyes at her, 'Very secretive little girl.'
The Blue Crescent soldiers suddenly appeared before Vhelgarr and knelt on one knee, clasping their fists in the air. Then the leader of the deployed troops said with great reverence in his tone, "our brave future Lordship, thank you for intervening in this battle, quickly putting a decisive end to it."
"Rise, soldiers." Vhelgarr said. Then he spoke further with a serious look on his face, "Thank you for your swift reaction to the abrupt invasion of our peaceful kingdom by these barbaric and savage tribesmen."
"However, without you—every single one of you gathered here, including our fallen brothers and sisters, I couldn't have stopped them alone."
"With this great victory that we have obtained for our people and for ourselves, let's return to our posts and celebrate it in the best way we can! You have all done well."
After saying that and performing a military hand sign that the soldiers reciprocated in unison, their energy causing the atmosphere to shake, he walked to where his Nexabeast was and climbed atop it with Nailah, returning to the palace. But he only did so after scanning the magnitude of the destruction that he had caused. Then he began to think of what to tell his father which gave him nothing but deep aches.
Arryhiarr, who was watching this and became heavily amazed at Vhelgarr's commander-like tone, shook her head and said, "This son of mine will never cease to amaze me. Where did he learn to put up such a powerful stance?"
After saying that, she flew back as a streak of light to the kingdom, ready to narrate everything to her husband who was impatiently waiting for the results of the battle.
He could have come himself to handle it in the best way that he could, but since his son had opted to go, he had to place his complete trust in him and let him go handle it, while he remained behind, eagerly waiting to hear the good news.
