Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - The Last Stand

Chapter 1 - The Last Stand

The sun hung high in the sky, casting down its golden-yellow light upon a massive battlefield stained with blood and litters of sliced and mangled human flesh.

Facing ten armored foes alone was a young boy in his twenties. He looked lean like he could only afford a small meal per day. But the power embedded in each of his attacks was enough to open up the earth for miles and make a hundred feet-deep crater in it.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

With a furious swing of the hammer grasped tight in his right hand—a hammer that didn't look special or anything out of the world, he instantly sent thirty armored foes flying.

These armored foes, who were nine feet taller than him, and weighed thirty times more—as they weren't ordinary human foes but empowered soldiers of the Great Ski'iar Empire, landed 200 feet away with a force capable of shattering large, solid rocks to thousands of fragments.

The lean, pale-complexioned male exhaled heavily and looked across the battlefield to where his older brother was fighting with grace, dominion, and overwhelming might.

He wielded two swords and ravaged through the battlefield like he was a living force composed of nothing but absolute sharpness; a type of sharpness that would instantly cut its way through all immovable objects, or render all unstoppable forces useless by reducing them to nothing.

In just a second, he cut the steel-like bodies of more than seventy armored giants that surrounded him to pieces. He moved really fast that lightning, if it became a real entity, would not be able to match him in speed.

But, it wasn't just that. His strength was so great that the winds generated from ordinary slashes, or from the furious swings of his two swords at enemies, somehow became horrifying, fast-moving gales of tremendous devastating power and sharpness that instantly reduced many foes that surrounded him to bloodied fragments.

Once he wreaked a shocking, fierce storm of terrifying power that instantly obliterated many foes, he looked across the battlefield at his younger brother who locked eyes with him.

Though they moved across the battlefield like they couldn't be stopped, there was however intense worry in their eyes. It looked like this particular battle would be their last if their oldest brother didn't show up.

They had been fighting for an hour now and their big brother was yet to show up. And they still had millions more to defend themselves against.

Actually, many nations united under a certain really powerful empire to take them down. Only their brother, who could single-handedly kill nations or flood hundreds of large, grand empires with his massive destructive power, could handle them. But unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found.

With the unknowingly selfish aim of constantly improving himself, but with the sole intention of becoming stronger so that he could protect his loved ones and people associated with him, he had left many years ago, into an unfathomable place that they couldn't trace him to or dare to enter.

Though they believed in the majestic and domineering, tyrannical ability of their oldest brother, but it had been years now, and could have been killed off by an even greater power that he had probably come into contact with.

Coming to this grim realization, they exhaled deeply in sadness and could only continue their battle. They had nowhere else to run or turn to and could only face the tempestuous war in front of them till only they and their loved ones remained standing, or the nations that had conspired heavily against them, which wanted nothing more but their gruesome extermination from the surface of the world.

Whoosh!!

The lean male, who was the youngest of them and was Xanderroth by name, dashed forward with immense speed. He fearlessly jumped into the midst of enemies and began to deliver fierce waves of mountain-shattering attacks, constantly causing the earth for miles to intensely tremble.

This knocked many large foes off their feet and even caused massive warbeasts and fiendmorphs that weighed dozens of tons to stagger or back away quickly in absolute fear.

Seeing how her younger brothers fought fearlessly, a radiant and exceptionally looking lady who wielded beautifully-carved glowing blades and fought like she were a god-trained assassin with the power of a million rageful storms emanating from her whole body, shook her head in anger at the absence of their oldest brother.

She wanted nothing bad to happen to her lovely brothers. But from the looks of it, either their oldest brother had died, or he had abandoned them. She however refused to believe either of the thoughts that had sprung up in her mind.

She knew her brother seriously loved them, and that he was probably held up or delayed by something that he had gone in search of. He wouldn't just abandon them, leaving them to fend for themselves. That wasn't his personality. She didn't grow up with an abandoner.

When they were weak and were fleeing from one nation to the other for sanctuary, he had always been with them, defending them from all sorts of attacks till they could stand on their own and easily defend themselves.

But now that they needed him the most—as they were at war with literally the whole world, he was nowhere to be found. She was unhappy and helpless. But she could only continue to fight, fight till she breathed her very last because she believed they weren't going to come out alive from this.

Dispelling the anger and resentment that had welled up in her heart for her older brother, she refocused on the battlefield and resumed her mad flurries of wrathful and unstoppable, violet-colored attacks that overshadowed the golden-yellow illumination of the sun, intensely shaking the entire battlefield.

Even the clouds in the sky for hundreds of miles couldn't remain untouched. They immediately cleared away due to the furious waves that shot up and wrathfully raged through it like they wanted nothing but its complete destruction. That was simply how devastating her attacks were.

But unfortunately, it wasn't enough to go against the million foes from each nation that had gathered up against them.

Slowly, after very long hours of intense battling, she reached the limit of her powers which forced her to resort to brute strength and pure fighting skills.

...

Someone, a tall and handsome male who watched this from within a certain dark and gloomy dimension, turned around in incomparable anger and hatred to gaze at a massive, planet-like being that exuded nothing but the terrifying feeling of chaos and destruction from its whole body.

"Why wouldn't you let me leave? I have to go save my family!" This male screamed in great anger at the entity standing far in front of him.

Clenching his fists, he shouted again, but at a new level of rage and urgency after seeing the indifference of the being, "Alright. I don't want your damned legacy anymore. Let me leave!!"

The massively huge being didn't respond and simply watched the large screen in front of it, seemingly enjoying how Xanderroth and his immediate older brother, Valgoroth, who were now overwhelmed by their enemies, were gruesomely butchered to their death.

Watching this and feeling like something had broken inside him, Vhalgarr's eyes immediately turned bright yellow and blue at the same time. Then he aimed his palm in seething fury at the being, shooting off a massive wave of power that seemed to ravage throughout the entire limitless dimension.

This wave struck the being and its massive eyes couldn't help but shine—in serious awe and marvel before being replaced by anger and irritation.

So, this ant could actually make it feel the power of its attack? It was unbelievable and unacceptable!

Instantly, it let out a vast stream of immense suppressive power, one that if left without control, would shatter massive clusters of worlds, annihilating them to nothing but dust.

...

Seeing how her brothers were brutally killed, Nailah's heart broke. They were the last line of defense for a small community that descended with them from loathing higher worlds.

Once they were all gone, the community, which consisted of newborn babies, toddlers, children, old people, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, who depended on them for their safety and survival, would all be brutally murdered.

She couldn't imagine the unspeakable evil and absolute savagery that they would go through in the hands of their wicked captors.

Further broken by this, she sorrowfully looked at the bodies of her brothers who fought to their death and suddenly screamed in great anger and agony at the sky, like their oldest brother, Vhelgarr, would be able to hear her, "Brother, it's all your fault!!"

If he had just remained with them, instead of his selfish quest to grow stronger and stronger, they wouldn't be in this situation.

But alas, she couldn't bring herself to hate him. He was doing it because of them—to protect them against every force in the world that would appear to contend with them.

With great anger and the intense feeling of desperation billowing in her heart, she summoned every essence of her being and instantly poured everything into one of the two beautifully-carved swords gripped in her hands.

Instantly, the sword emitted a blinding glow that outshone the illumination from the sun by a factor of hundred. And with great wrath encompassing her whole being, she hurled it towards the place where the leaders of many nations were gathered, watching the battle with gloat and contempt on their faces.

Seeing the attack, they tried to stop it with their mystical prowess. But like the sword sneered, it arrived in front of them in the next second from thousands of miles away and simply exploded, releasing a wave so great and fearsome that it instantly ravaged through many nations, tearing everything apart into the tiniest pieces.

Even an underground shelter made to withstand a series of massive explosions that would reduce rows of entire nations to nothing, would immediately crumble to ashes in front of this attack.

Looking pale with blood constantly oozing from her eyes, nostrils, ears, gums, the corners of her lips, and even from many of the now-widened and excessively dried pores of her once-beautiful skin, she said with a smile on her soiled and bloodied face—despite the intense agonising pain she was currently suffering, "Brother, I don't know if you are alive or dead. But in our next life, I would like to be your little sister again. I will only choose you, Xanderroth, and Valgoroth as my brothers."

Immediately after she said that, one of the few soldiers that remained, who was lucky enough to not be reduced to bits by the tremendously vast wave of immense chaotic power that she unleashed, but was seriously injured by it, angrily gripped his broken sword and deeply pierced her skull with it, immediately ending her life.

Vhelgarr who was being forced to watch this under the suppressive power of the large planetary being, screamed in anger and madness.

His eyes burned, and his rage surged so much that a dark indigo and jet-black aura of unfathomable destruction suddenly exuded from him, immediately negating the heavy suppressive force that came from the planetary being.

Then he blasted off an enormous wave of dreadful power at the being, which immediately caused the being to take Vhelgarr really serious.

Though it was nothing to be frightened about, but it still had to take him serious. This was because the wave now carried a certain inexplicable power that wasn't present in his previous attack.

Suddenly fearing that it would start to develop rapidly within the essence of Vhelgarr's being, the large planetary being decided to utterly annihilate Vhelgarr.

Noticing that the being was about to make a strong move at him, after intuitively understanding that his last attack raised some type of alert within the ginormous ancient entity, Vhelgarr laughed, but in a rather sorrowful manner.

Then he said deeply and with a sharp tone in his voice, "Today marks the beginning of your end. I assure you."

Feeling angry and fully intimidated by Vhelgarr's words that seemed to carry law and authority, the being gazed intensely at Vhelgarr, which instantly resulted in the explosion of his entire being to countless smithereens.

However, it somehow failed. It looked at the spot that Vhelgarr—now nothing but millions of bloodied fragments previously stood and narrowed its eyes in utter confusion, thinking how such a thing could even be possible.

With eyes recovering their usual indifferent gaze, it braced itself for an impending great storm of chaos and destruction.

...Hundred years, thousand years, or a billion years from now, whichever one it was, it was going to arrive. And nothing might be able to stop it. So it felt, before vanishing into the depth of its unbounded dimension.
