Chapter 9 - Improve agriculture

In the command hall, eastern city.

"The first thing we'll do in each city is expand the planting areas. In the case of the north, west, and south, you'll be able to expand your plantations much more than our other two cities", I said, pointing to each of the corresponding leaders of the cities I mentioned. "The plantings will be done the same as always, but there will be special areas in each city, overseen by the priests, where we'll compare a new planting method derived from divine knowledge and that of our people's planting experts, against the type of planting we've always done", I told everyone seriously, making them understand the importance of what we were talking about.

"Why don't we just use your knowledge, young Chuta?", asked one of the leaders.

"It's so you can notice the differences in using divine knowledge, and not just follow my words as if they were a decree from the gods. I'm just a human like you who has been blessed with many gifts, but I'm not a god… The gods watch over us, and so do I, and if I make my people suffer, I will also be punished by them", I told them worriedly, trying to gain their trust and also to make it clear that I was a mere human. "If you ask me for a miracle, I won't be able to do it", I thought ironically.

"We'll do as you suggest, Son of Heaven. We'll review the crop improvements ourselves", they said.

"Also, I'd like you to listen to the planting experts in your own cities, test their ideas, try to improve our crops, and take care of the land", I suggested. "On the other hand, the plans specify what types of crops will be suitable for each town, but that doesn't limit you from planting whatever you wish privately. However, you must prioritize the suggested crops. For the north and its new, expansive fields, it will be rice and corn; for the south, it will be potatoes and corn; and for the west, a mix of all the above. It will depend on the area you're in", I continued.

"What will those of us in the center and east do?", asked the leader of the central city.

"We'll continue as we are. We can try new ways of planting potatoes, or try to create some wetlands for rice growth, or vary the way we plant corn", I replied.

"We understand", said the leaders of both cities.

"Now I'll tell you the plans for new projects for each city", I told everyone, changing the subject. "Our eastern city will focus on mining a new, very durable metal. We'll also include some crafting and construction sites", I told everyone, looking especially at my father, who was the leader of the eastern city.

"A new metal?", the rest of the leaders asked.

"Yes, young Chuta asked us a couple of months ago to search for new rocks. In the search, we found a few more places with coal, but we also found a very durable black stone. Our stone tools broke after chipping for a while", he said, delighted with his find.

"That's great", they said. The city leaders are smart enough to notice the discovery of a new metal.

"Therefore, we will establish a place called a forge and smelter that will handle certain metals. This will also be created in the southern city, so you can create bronze tools, which are found in large quantities in your territory." I mentioned one of the new technologies we would use from now on. "That's good news", said the southern leader upon hearing that he would also have access to the new technology.

"Now the center… will focus on improving food storage capabilities. You will be the great storehouse of our people", I told the center leader after pausing for a moment to give him more excitement. "And not only that, but you will also have some new forms of crafts, construction, and food preservation, so you can trade with the rest of the cities accordingly", I told the leader of the center city. This was thoughtful, since it is currently the most populous city, and they could use that excess of unemployed hands in crafting.

"I thank you on behalf of our city", he said, quite pleased with my focus on the center city.

"For the southern city, as I've already told you, you have large quantities of metals, such as bronze and silver; both metals will be very important in the future. I would also like you to focus on clearing forests, since the western city will focus on boat building, and they will need a lot of wood for it", I told the southern city leader, also looking at the western city leader.

"What are boats?", the western city leader asked.

"They are vessels that will be used to navigate the river in all directions; we can transport anything in them. The specific plan is outlined in the papers the priests gave you. Every city that has access to the river will also have access to the manufacturing technology, but the focus will be on the western city", I told the leaders, looking especially at the leaders of the south and north, who would also have access to the river.

"We understand", said all the leaders involved.

"In the case of the western city, I have already mentioned some of the things you will be involved in, and I only need to inform you of one more thing. You must use this newly created facility for boat manufacturing and establish our first town on the other side of the river, and from there expand further and further", I said excitedly. "It will be the first real territorial expansion", I thought, pleased with the progress our people were making.

"We will do as you indicate", said the leader of the western city, happy with this new responsibility. "Finally, the north will have one of the most important tasks in your hands", I said, looking directly at the northern town leader. "You will be responsible for our people's food. I am very confident that with your new planting skills, we can increase the amount of food our people eat. We will also be able to bring in crops from other lands and increase the variety of foods we have access to. You will also be an important point for business with the nearby towns", I continued to explain to the northern town leader.

"We will do everything possible to help our people", he said enthusiastically.

"That is all for this meeting. We will meet when the leaves begin to fall from the trees", I told everyone.

"Thank you for your wisdom, SuaChie Chuta", said the leaders and the priests accompanying them.

"For the future of us Suaza, and for the gods", I said, standing up with one hand on my heart.

"For us Suaza and the gods", they said firmly.

"Thank you for your help today, High Priest", I said as we watched all the leaders leave the command center.

"All for our people and the gods. It is a pleasure to help you, Son of Heaven", he said enthusiastically. It seemed that he liked the direction our people were taking.

After the meeting, I left the building. My mother had been waiting for me outside the building the whole time. My mother liked us walking around the city visiting everyone, and she also enjoyed me playing with the rest of the children in our village. It seemed she wanted me to enjoy myself like the rest of them.

One month later.

"Dear envoys, this is our High Priest", the priest from a nearby village said to the people of the southern mountain ranges, using their language. He had been chosen as the official translator for this meeting and would oversee passing on information about what was being said back and forth. "It's a pleasure to meet you. This meeting took us by surprise. At first, we thought it was a plan to conquer our lands", said the leader who had been sent from our southern neighbors.

"Or perhaps an attempt to steal our riches", said the priest who came with them.

"Of course not. All this was planned by the heavens and the gods, and we wouldn't dare defy them", said the High Priest in our language as our priest translated for him. We were all standing in front of the command center.

"The gods?", the priest of the southern people asked in surprise.

"I'll answer him, High Priest", I told Simte in our language, to which he just nodded, as if he didn't care. "Well, it's more like a plan I made, dear priest", I said in his language as he looked at me in shock. Although I didn't know if it was because I saw a two-year-old baby speaking with such ease, because of the clear wisdom my way of expressing myself and my words displayed, or if it was because I could speak both their language and ours.

"What? How? Are you a baby from our village?", the priest asked in surprise. The leader at his side was equally surprised.

"I'm not one of your people, dear priest", I replied kindly.

"Then how do you know our language so well?", he asked, still surprised. "Or rather, how can you speak so well when you're just a baby?", He changed his question after some thought.

"Well, that's a long story", I told them cryptically. "Let's come in. Inside, we'll resolve all your doubts and make this the most important meeting of our people", I told them while smiling.

[A/N: CHAPTER COMPLETED

Hello everyone.

Chuta (the main character) will use diplomacy and interests to connect the communities living around his territory.

Unnecessary fact of the day: in the Muisca territory, they grew corn, rice, and potatoes, among other less common crops.

This is the last chapter that will be updated daily, due to the low support it received, but that doesn't mean the novel is over.

I will continue publishing chapters every two days, like my other novel, but the posts will be staggered.

Hopefully, support will increase over time so I can publish daily.

Read my other novel called The Walking Dead: Vision of the Future.

You can find it on my profile.

P.S.: Sorry the author's note is so long; I won't do it again, I think.]
