Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: "The Radiant Constitution"

"What about the Hunters then?" Dudian couldn't help but ask. "Are they sent to the dangerous areas outside the Great Wall? What kind of dangers are there outside the Great Wall?" As he said this, terrifying figures couldn't help but emerge in his mind, and his face turned pale. Fortunately, since his complexion was originally fair, it wasn't too noticeable.

"You're quite smart," the thinner young man smiled and said. "Outside the Great Wall..."

"Fino!" Another young man beside him frowned and said, "His identity hasn't been confirmed yet. Don't say too much."

The thinner young man named Fino was taken aback, shrugged, and said, "It doesn't matter, does it? His radiation value is at the 0.8 scale, not exceeding '1'. He's basically sure to have the 'Radiant Constitution'."

"Don't jump to conclusions before the test!" The other young man frowned.

Fino thought for a moment, then looked down at Dudian and said, "I can only tell you after you pass the test. But then, someone will explain these things to you."

Dudian was slightly stunned when he heard their conversation. "The 'Radiant Constitution'? What is that?"

"You'll know soon enough," Fino said with a mysterious smile.

At this moment, the three of them entered the manor. Several gardeners who were watering the lawn nodded respectfully and saluted when they saw Fino and the other young man. Following the white stone path paved in the middle of the lawn, the three of them came to the front of the castle. The huge door, more than ten meters high, slowly opened. Fino took Dudian's hand and went inside, then came to a tall spire building. They went up the winding stairs and arrived at a dimly lit room on the top floor.

On the way, they saw a large number of servants. All these people respectfully called Fino and the other young man "sir" when they saw them.

Dudian looked around the dimly lit room. There were no windows at all. The only small window for ventilation was covered by a black curtain. Perhaps because it hadn't seen sunlight for a long time, the air in the room was rather cold, similar to the temperature in the early days of the Disaster Rainy Season.

In the center of the room, there was an isolated metal platform covered with a black cloth. Fino stepped forward and lifted the cloth, revealing a smooth crystal ball. White cold air rose from below the crystal ball, and it turned out to be a pile of ice cubes.

"Come here, little guy," Fino took out a sharp small knife from the inside of his black leather armor and turned to look at Dudian. "Come over here."

Dudian saw that there was still a smile on his face and no murderous intent, so he slowly stepped forward. When he got closer, he suddenly saw an extremely pure white little worm inside the almost transparent crystal ball. If he didn't look carefully, it was almost impossible to see.

"This is a 'Radiant Worm'. It likes to live in a cold environment," Fino said with a smile. "If you have the Radiant Constitution, it won't drink your blood." After that, he grabbed Dudian's little hand and moved it above the crystal ball. There was exactly a small round hole at the top, and the crystal ball was actually a container.

With a slash of the knife, Dudian felt a slight pain in his finger. A drop of blood dripped from his fingerprint and just landed in the round hole, sliding inside.

At this moment, the "Radiant Worm" that had been sleeping soundly inside the crystal ball seemed to be disturbed and woke up from its sweet dream. It slightly raised its head towards the position where the blood was sliding, as if sniffing. The next moment, it crawled towards the blood.

Seeing this scene, Fino's face changed, and the other young man also frowned.

Dudian thought of what Fino had said before, and his heart sank.

The Radiant Worm quickly crawled in front of the blood. Then, its body seemed to be like a sponge, sucking in the blood. The pure white little body also turned a touch of red, but this red quickly faded away, and it returned to its pure white color.

"It can't be..." Fino frowned and muttered, "Is it because it hasn't eaten for too long and is too hungry?"

He slashed his finger with the knife in his hand, and a drop of blood fell.

However, the Radiant Worm didn't even look at it and crawled back to the cold part at the bottom of the crystal ball and curled up.

Fino's face darkened. Without saying a word, he grabbed Dudian's little hand, quickly cut it, and dripped in the blood. As soon as the blood fell into the crystal ball, the Radiant Worm crawled over and quickly sucked it in.

"He really doesn't have it!" Fino seemed a bit dejected. He let go of Dudian's little hand and put away his knife.

The other young man looked at Dudian and said indifferently, "It seems that your previous family was quite good."

Dudian already had a rough idea of what was going on at this time. The "Radiant Constitution" that Fino mentioned was just that the person had a higher immunity antibody to radiation in their body than ordinary people, so the radiation content in their body was lower than that of ordinary people. People with this constitution were the "Hunter" partners they were looking for. However, he didn't have such a constitution. It was just that because he had come out of the freezing chamber and had been in contact with this world for too short a time, the radiation content in his body was not high.

Hearing the other young man's words, Dudian immediately understood what he meant and felt a sense of alarm in his heart. It seemed that these people had already investigated him and knew that he was an adopted child of Mr. and Mrs. Jula. Most likely, they also knew that he hadn't stayed in Meishan Orphanage for long. The reason for saying this was that they mistakenly thought that he was a child abandoned by a noble or wealthy family. Only the food and drinks in these families were repeatedly filtered, and the radiation content was extremely low.

"I didn't expect it to be just an abandoned rich kid. What a disappointment," Fino said with a look of disappointment on his face and sighed.

Dudian wasn't disappointed. Once he became a Hunter, he would have to go to those dangerous areas. Although he didn't know what the dangers were, it was better that they weren't the ones he had imagined.

The other young man looked at Dudian and said coldly, "Little guy, you must never tell anyone about what happened here, you understand? Including the words 'Hunters'!"

Was this the suppression of authority? Dudian nodded and said, "I will keep my mouth shut."

Seeing that he was so obedient, the chill in the young man's eyes faded a little. He gave a cold snort and said to Fino, "Fortunately, your big mouth didn't say too much. Otherwise, we would have to 'deal with' this little guy."

Hearing these words, Dudian felt a chill in his heart. Had his life almost been lost unintentionally? At the same time, he also felt a bit angry at the young man's cold words. In the other person's eyes, there was no respect for life at all!

However, soon he felt dejected. In this world, perhaps lives really were as cheap as grass!

Thinking of this, he felt even more strongly that he must make one or two things to save his life. Otherwise, if he died without knowing why, how could he have the face to face his parents, who had given him life twice, in hell?

"I can't make guns yet, but it seems that gunpowder is possible..." Some thoughts flashed through his mind.

Fino and the other young man had no idea at all what terrifying weapons were emerging in the mind of the child standing by their legs.

"Sigh!" Fino still couldn't hide his regret on his face. He said to Dudian, "Let's go, little guy." There was no trace of the previous warmth and friendliness in his attitude.

"Where are we going?"

"Do you even need to ask? To the place where you should go. You must remember this clearly. Don't tell anyone about us, including your parents. If you're found to be leaking information, you can only blame yourself for being unlucky."

"What about the Hunters then?"
