After some days,
Author's pov
On a dark night, a car sped through the quiet streets of West London, heading toward its destination. The driver focused on the road, while a middle-aged couple sat in the backseat, lost in conversation. Both of them looked deeply troubled.
They were Mr. and Mrs. Harrington.
Suddenly, Mr. Harrington's phone rang. He answered it, speaking in a low tone, while Mrs. Harrington turned her gaze outside, resting her head slightly out of the window.
The car had barely moved ahead when, all of a sudden, Mrs. Harrington gasped and shouted,
"Driver… stop the car… right now!"
Her sharp cry startled both the driver and Mr. Harrington. Reacting instinctively, the driver hit the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden, jolting stop.
Mr. Harrington turned to his wife, his voice filled with concern.
"Elea, what's wrong?! Are you alright? Why did you scream like that?"
Mrs. Harrington's eyes remained fixed outside as she spoke urgently,
"There's someone out there… by the side of the road! I saw someone—barely moving. It looked like a woman. She might have been in an accident. We have to help her!"
Mr. Harrington hesitated for a moment, considering her words.
The driver, however, frowned and spoke cautiously,
"Ma'am, it's late. Who would be out on an empty road at this hour? If someone had really been in an accident… well, they might not have made it. Stopping could put us in unnecessary danger."
Mr. Harrington exhaled slowly.
"Elea, are you absolutely sure you saw someone?"
Elea nodded firmly.
"Yes, I know what I saw. There was definitely someone, and she needs help."
The driver tightened his grip on the wheel and hesitated before speaking again.
"Or… it could be a setup."
Mr. and Mrs. Harrington exchanged a look before turning back to him.
"What do you mean?"
The driver sighed.
"Sir, maybe it could be a prank or anything…That's why I don't think it's a good idea to get out. And besides, we have a flight to Australia in the morning."
Mrs. Harrington bit her lip, torn.
"I understand, but what if it's real? What if she's actually in trouble? I swear, it was a woman and she looked unconscious. If we just drive away and something happens to her…"
Mr. Harrington sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
"Alright, Elea. You stay in the car. I'll go check."
But the driver immediately objected.
"No, sir. You can't go alone. Stay inside—I'll take a quick look."
Elea shook her head.
"No, you're not going alone either."
Mr. Harrington straightened up.
"Then we'll all go together."
Mr. Harrington and the driver both got down from the car and started going in the direction shown by Eleanor. Reaching there, both of them were shocked.
There was really a girl lying unconscious with many injury marks on her body. Her hair was falling over her face, making it difficult to see her properly, but seeing her condition, the driver said,
"Oh my god, it seems she has had a very bad accident. She has lost so much blood, I don't know if she is still alive or not..."
Mr. Harrington interrupted,
"Don't talk like that, wait I'll check."
Mr. Harrington went a little ahead and checked her pulse, and the surprising thing was that despite being in such a bad condition, she was breathing.
By now, Elea had also reached there. She was also shocked to see the girl in such a condition.
Mr. Harrington immediately called the driver near him.
"Listen... come here quickly... she is breathing, she is alive and there is a possibility that she may survive. We have to take her to the hospital as soon as possible."
The driver immediately went to help her but as soon as he turned the girl towards him, Elea screamed upon seeing her face.
All three were very shocked. There were many injury marks on the girl's face and moreover, the lower part of one side of the face was almost half burnt.
There was a tatto mark on her neck, showing letter K wrriten in Heart design, also she was wearing a wedding ring in her ring finger, which showed that may the girl was married.
Mr. Harrington said,
"I don't think this is just an accident. Something very wrong has happened to this girl."
Elea also supported,
"Oh God!! Which ruthless person has made this flower-like girl suffer like this? Listen, please hurry up, we have to take her to the hospital. Today, we have lost our dear one, but we will not let anything happen to the goddess of wealth of someone else's house."
Saying this, tears welled up in Elea's eyes, but she controlled herself.
Mr. Harrington, with the help of the driver, made the girl sit in the car and the driver immediately drove towards the hospital.
In a short while, they reached the hospital.
Mr. Harrington was well-known in the hospital, so he did not face any problems, and the treatment of the girl started immediately. They sat outside and waited.
After a while, the doctor came out, and upon seeing him, Elea immediately asked,
"What happened, doctor?? Is that girl alright?? Will anything happen to her???"
"Who is this girl to you?" Doctor asked.
So Mr. Harrington replied,
"We don't know her, but when we were going back to the hotel, we found this girl on the way. She was lying on the side of the road. We thought she had met with an accident, so we immediately brought her here."
"Look, Mr. Harrington, I will not lie, but the condition of this girl is very critical. It is very difficult for her to survive... and as far as I think, this girl does not want to live. Maybe she has no reason left to live, and when the patient is mentally so weak, it is almost impossible to save them."
Elea was shocked to hear this,
"What... but why so?? What has happened to her that she does not want to live?"
Then, Mr. Harrington, after thinking for a moment, asked the doctor,
"Doctor... was she raped?"
"No... nothing like that happened to her, but there are many injury marks on her body, and almost half of her face is burnt on one side. Apart from that, there are many injury marks on her face. She has a deep injury on her head, and it seems as if someone has deliberately tried to kill her.
And if I say one thing, it will not be right for you to get involved in all this. It does not seem to be just an accident, so we will have to file a police case, right? Do you know anything about this girl? Like her name or any relatives, etc.?"
"No, doctor, we don't know anything."
"Okay, then we should call the police."
But Elea refused, "No... one minute... don't call the police right now."
So Mr. Harrington asked,
"What happened, Elea? Why are you refusing?"
"Hey, you understand the matter. As the doctor said, it seems that someone has tried to kill her, and if it is really so, then if we call the police, maybe that girl's life will be in even more danger. And look at the condition of that girl. When the police come, they will start questioning her as soon as she regains consciousness."
"I understand your feelings, but why do you want to take the risk?? That too for an unknown girl whose name you don't even know."
Upon hearing doctor's question, Elea became silent. But Mr. Harrington was understanding Elea's thoughts a little. However, he did not say anything.
He just gestured for the doctor to agree. The doctor understood and also gestured to him not to worry.
"Okay, I agree with you. And as far as the girl's survival is concerned, we are trying our best, but we cannot say anything for two days. If she regains consciousness within two days, then it is fine. Otherwise..."
The doctor did not say anything further and went back inside.
They stayed there the whole night as long as her treatment was going on.
In the morning, everyone explained a lot to them. Then, they finally agreed to leave and went back to the hotel for some time.
Even the doctors were unable to understand why they were so worried about an unknown girl. But the doctors also knew Elea very well—she had always been soft-hearted and cared for everyone.
To be continued...
Well, Who is this girl??? And who would have put her in such a condition?? As the doctors said, it is almost impossible for her to survive so will she be able to fight to her death?? But what happened to her is that she does not want to live.....
