After a year of studying at this university, Jeff didn't feel that anything was weird about this college, so he wondered why his parents were so sad when he left. He couldn't think of any other thought, which was that the university fee was huge, so that was the only reason. He was delusional and focused on that to make his fears go away. Jeff was going to class when he heard a conversation between the headmaster and a stranger. Kaddy, heading to the next class, saw Jeff's ears facing the wall as if he were hearing confidential matters.
Kaddy thought that her fears of Jeff becoming a peeping tom or the rising of a secret lover were starting to show. The headmaster was talking to a woman, and Jeff was spying on her since it was the voice of a woman coming from that door, at least that was what Kaddy believed. She was about to approach him, however, Jeff, filled with tears in his eyes, had fled. He bumped into Kaddy, which caused her to fall. The fall was so loud that the headmaster and the woman heard it. They opened the door, and that was when they discovered Kaddy. The headmaster called the guards, and they took her away to silence her, thinking that she had heard what they were discussing. No one heard from her since, but the headmaster had his plans. After a month of Kaddy's disappearance, Jeff couldn't feel at ease knowing that he caused his friend to be taken away because of him. He was always pacing and thinking about what to do. Jeff no longer thought the college was ordinary.
The headmaster gathered all the students in the orientation room again. They made up a story about how Kaddy stole a diamond ring from this woman, so she was expelled. "An expulsion of the students means death," the headmaster announced. He continued," We didn't tell you since no incident happened so far, but now that it happened, she was set as an example to anyone who tries to defy us again. We have eyes everywhere now". Jeff was shivering in fear, but it wasn't strange since the other students felt the same as Jeff. Jeff wasn't suspected. Jeff knew the truth about the college's secret, but he couldn't say anything, thinking that no one would believe him because the other students didn't even like him. Jeff regretted not running with Kaddy by warning her and fleeing the scene together, but he was filled with negative emotions at that moment that he couldn't even comprehend what he heard, so he didn't stop his only friend from acting on his behalf. He failed Kaddy, but He knew right then and there that he needed to protect his brother from this fate, even if he were to perish. He believed that the only one who deserved to escape was his brother. It was selfish, but he believed that he couldn't save anyone else because the secret was too great, and he wasn't smart enough to figure out a way for all the students to escape. After all, it wasn't his problem. He had just overcome the teenage stage, barely reaching adulthood, so he couldn't have all this responsibility on him, and the more people he helped, the more risk of them getting discovered.
Jeff was angry at his parents for hiding this secret from him, so he blamed them. Even if the secret was too severe, they shouldn't have lied all this time. Jeff believed that their smiles were fake and that what he discovered might put him in danger, but Jeff didn't think of himself. Jeff thought," I will not cause any more trouble to make sure I don't get expelled and die without fulfilling my purpose. I promise you, Zack, I will save you from this fate". Jeff knew the meaning behind Smith's last words, but he was very angry. He couldn't forgive his parents. He hated their father the most because he believed that at least his mother gave him and Zack the skills to survive, while their father did nothing and made them think that everything was fine while this college was a true nightmare. Jeff knew that the times his father would joke to cheer him up were all fake.
Security was doubled after this incident, and no one could approach the cursed headmaster's office anymore. After three years, Jeff was about to graduate, and luckily, his class wasn't chosen to face the same fate as the other classes of their college year, so he was on the safe side. His brother, on the other side of the coin, wasn't so lucky because in his second year, misery would occur.
After the loss of Kaddy, Jeff decides to focus on excelling to become a class assistant and starts his plan to save Zack from the dangers to come. He was silent and less talkative and seemed quite distant from the other students, and no one approached him anymore. Jeff didn't mind being alone as well as the other students. The other students believed that Jeff was being a grown-up now instead of causing mischief. They wanted him to stay that way. Although they don't know the truth of why Jeff changed so much, they don't care enough about him to understand him. It was because of his responsibility to protect Zack from this fate.
After graduation, Jeff became a doctor's assistant and was deemed worthy of that title. The truth was explained to him in detail, and that made him more certain that what he had heard back then wasn't fiction. Zack enrolled and was in his second year. Zack never suspected anything was wrong with the college since he wasn't a deep thinker and didn't suspect anyone. He trusted others blindly, including the college system.
