Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Overworld

Tevoro awoke to soft blades of grass tickling the back of his hoodie. His brown skin bathing in the sunlight as a subtle gust of wind blew across the hill he was lying on. Trying to remember what had previously happened, a headache plagued his mind. "Gah!" He grunted out in pain as he grasped at his head with both his hands. It felt as though his brain could explode at any moment. His breathing became heavy before he once again passed out.

"Hello? Are you alive?" A voice rang out as Tevoro opened his eyes once more. A figure with a pale porcelain skin tone and a red cotton jacket stood above him. His most notable feature being a rough white mask. "Huh. What." Tevoro groaned, one hand still clinging to his head. "Who are you?" The figure asked.

"Who are you?"

"I asked first."

"I'm Tevoro. As for my background, I can't seem to remember."

"I'm Hemwick. I can't remember anything else but my name. It's weird how we both just... appeared here."

"Yeah..."

The two paused for a second before switching their focus to smoke coming from down the hill. Without hesitation, Tevoro started making his way down the hill.

"Where are you going?"

"To find answers."

Hemwick hurried after Tevoro as they made their way towards the smoke. The rays of sunlight shone bright against the back of Tevoro's green hoodie as sunset swiftly approached.

"Hey Hemwick, I forgot to ask, but why do you keep that mask on?"

"I'm not sure myself, however I have this feeling that something bad might happen..."

Tevoro continued walking, skeptical of the bone like mask before brushing it off. The two continued traversing before reaching a path which lead up to a house. Following, the path, they found a collection of houses and small farms.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Loud footsteps followed behind the duo startled them. Tevoro swiftly turned around to be greeted by a metal giant two heads taller than him, covered in vines. It's iron exterior partially damaged while it's bright red eyes still emitted an intimidating aura. Suddenly, a person emerged from behind the iron golem, frantically looking around.

"Hey! What are you doing! Get inside! Can't you see it's almost nighttime?!

Tevoro and Hemwick were rushed into a house by this person, before the door was slammed shut.

"Are you guys stupid or something?"

Tevoro and Hemwick exchanged confused glances before replying.

"Assume that we are. What's so bad about staying up at night?"

"You really don't know, do you? You must live under a rock. Here, since I'm too tired to explain, you can bunk here for the night. There are a couple books over there that I recommend you read before the morning. If you get hungry, there's food in the chest next to those beds. I'll be sleeping the night away, so don't do anything stupid. Whatever happens, do NOT go outside. My name's Jerry. If you need something, bother me about it tomorrow.

Jerry marched off to his room in an annoyed manner before Tevoro and Hemwick took a seat on their temporary beds. Tevoro reached for the bookcase next to him, pulling out a book titled 'Overworld'.

Table Of Contents:

• Mobs

• Biomes

• Agriculture

• History

•□□□□□□□□□□□□

Something was blacked out. Confused, Tevoro tried to find the blacked-out section by flipping to the later part of the green hardcovered book, only to find a large amount page torn out of the book.

"Hemwick, check this ou-"

Tevoro turned to find Hemwick already asleep in his bed, even with his mask on.

"That looks rather... inconvenient..."

Tevoro thought to himself as his attention turned back to the book. He began reading up on all sorts of creatures. He realized why Jerry didn't want him and Hemwick out past sunset. Mobs that only spawned at nighttime were lethal, especially to those with no protective gear. Things like huge spiders and explosive masters of stealth, capable of blowing you up without being detected called Creepers. Tevoro continued to read before eventually falling asleep, the book laid flat on his stomach.
