Chapter 6 - Chp 06

His last name is Granger, he is a dentist, and his daughter is a second-year student at Hogwarts...

Jon is not a fool, so he can naturally guess who his daughter is.

However, since he had already decided to keep his distance from the three protagonists, Jon took the initiative to give up the opportunity to get to know them in advance.

No matter whether she is Miss Watsons or Miss Black, what does it have to do with me? Before I can truly master a certain amount of magic, I'd better be timid!

 …

Leaving his dad and Dr. Granger, Jon stood at the door of a short and shabby shop.

The peeling gold sign above the door read: "Olivanders: Crafting Fine Wands since 382 BC".

Walking into the store, the space inside was not very large. Jon sat on the recliner in the middle of the store. Looking up, he could clearly see thousands of long and narrow cardboard boxes on the ceiling.

"Good afternoon," a soft voice said.

...

...

"Hello!" Jon stood up quickly and saw the thin old man who suddenly appeared behind him: "Are you Mr. Ollivander?"

"Yes, yes, I know I will see you soon, Jon Hart, that's no problem." The thin old man said mysteriously, "You look almost like your father. It seems like yesterday when he came here to buy his first wand..."

 Ollivander suddenly froze.

Jon was also stunned at this time.

He said weakly: "Mr. Ollivander, if I remember correctly, my father is not a wizard!"

"Um... is that so..." Ollivander stuttered, then he quickly took out a piece of parchment from his robe, glanced at it, and quickly put it back.

At this moment, Jon glanced at the parchment. There seemed to be a string of names written on it, and the names of relatives and their wands seemed to be recorded at the back...

"It seems that I saw it wrong, oh no, I remembered it wrong..." Ollivander coughed twice in embarrassment: "Um, um, Mr. Hart, which hand are you good at using?"

 "Oh, I'm right-handed."

Perhaps because of the embarrassing scene just now, Ollivander said almost nothing while measuring.

There's no such thing as "the wand chooses the wizard" or "I remember every wand I ever sold."

"Mr. Hart, try this one, made of ebony and snake nerves, nine inches long." After quickly measuring, he pulled out one of the cardboard boxes on the ceiling and took out the wand inside.

Jon picked up the rather short wand, but there was no reaction.

The chance of getting hit in one shot doesn't seem very high.

"Perhaps you could try this one, maple wood, phoenix feather, eleven inches long."

 …

 About an hour later.

Jon felt his hands were a little sore and he could hardly lift them.

He tried the wands Ollivander handed him at a rate of about one every ten seconds. Thousands of cardboard boxes were piled up like a mountain around him and Ollivander.

More importantly, there seemed to be only a few of cardboard boxes left on the ceiling.

"Such a picky customer, it's wonderful, but also difficult..." Ollivander's face seemed quite excited.

"This one is... made of ebony and unicorn hair, eight and a half inches long. An extraordinary combination!"

Ollivander excitedly handed over the wand, and Jon waved it, but still no reaction.

At this moment, Jon even thought that Professor McGonagall had made a mistake and that he was not a wizard at all... Otherwise, how could he not have chosen a suitable wand after spending an hour choosing!

"It's more difficult than I thought!" Ollivander seemed to be lost in thought. Suddenly, he seemed to have an epiphany: "Wait a moment, Mr. Hart!"

 Then, he disappeared.

Jon was able to sit back in his chair and relax his arms.

Three minutes later, Ollivander reappeared with a dusty cardboard box in his hand.

"You can try this one, Mr. Hart..." He carefully opened the box and took out a strange-looking wand.

Jon took it. It was very smooth and felt completely different from other wands. Moreover, on this hot day, the wand exuded a faint chill.

Before he could react, he heard a whoosh, and then saw a red light. The tip of the magic wand was emitting golden stars like fireworks, and the dancing spots of light were cast on the walls...

"Oh, great! Wonderful!" Ollivander almost exclaimed.

"Oh?" Jon's eyes suddenly lit up. Could it be that his wand, like the protagonist's wand, had an extraordinary origin?

For example, being brothers with the wand of a powerful wizard?

A unicorn had two hairs, one was made into Dumbledore's wand, and the other was made into this one?

Never mind, Dumbledore is a gay, kind of disgusting; Newt Scamander is good, Nick Flamel is also OK...

Just when Jon was daydreaming, Ollivander sentenced his thoughts to death with one sentence:

"In fact, this wand is not my work!"

 "Ah?" Jon's mouth suddenly opened.

"It was made by a wand maker from Germany."

"It was about 20 years ago. The German staff maker managed to escape to London... I met him and exchanged ideas on staff making for a while..."

"Escaped to London?" Jon suddenly noticed something.

However, Ollivander did not seem to want to discuss the history of German magic, but instead took out a piece of old cloth from a cardboard box.

"Found it... made of sessile oak, 13 inches, with hair of an iron-eating beast inside." Ollivander read the strip of cloth, "No wonder it's so smooth, it turns out it's made of oak."

"Ironbeast?" Jon felt that the name was familiar.

"A magical animal that lives in Germany. I think Newt Scamander should have recorded it... It is a bit like a cat, and its body color is black and white. The iron-eating beast has a strong charm magic, and can easily charm wizards and Muggles, especially women, to caress them and provide them with food..."

Ollivander said casually: "The hair of the iron-eating beast is the magic essence commonly used by German wand makers to make wands. They believe that the iron-eating beast has more powerful and purer magic than the unicorn, although I have different opinions about this!"

He had already put Jon's wand into the U-shaped box and wrapped it in brown paper.

"The price is seven Galleons, Mr. Hart."
