On Sunday morning, Jon did not get up early as usual.

He didn't leave the dormitory until around nine o'clock, when most of the Hogwarts freshmen had gotten up from bed.

He went to the dining hall to have some breakfast first. At the same time, he heard from afar that Draco Malfoy at the Slytherin table was bragging about how he taught a Gryffindor a lesson.

Except for Slytherin, all the remaining houses' students all looked at him with wierdly, but Malfoy was completely oblivious.

Jon didn't stay in the dining hall for too long. After breakfast, he returned to the Hufflepuff common room and picked up the glass cage containing two South African red spiders.

As he walked out of the castle, a ghost floated past him, causing him to quickly avoid it.

"Good morning, Jon!" the ghost greeted him kindly.

"Hello, sir!" Jon saluted the ghost of the fat friar? with great respect, and the fat friar also returned the salute.

...

...

"I want to go to Professor Sprout's office..."

"So you are looking for Pomona. Her office is in a low wooden house next to Greenhouse No. 1... Go quickly. I remember she stays in the office every Sunday!" said the fat monk with a smile.

 "Thank you, Sir".

The Fat Friar was arguably the friendliest ghost of all the academies. In less than a week since school started, Jon had already asked him for directions three times, and each time he patiently and carefully pointed the way for him.

 …

Professor Sprout was not in her office. Jon looked around in the nearby greenhouses and found her in the third greenhouse.

She was wearing a pair of pink fluffy earmuffs and trying to pull out a green and purple seedling in the greenhouse.

Jon quickly stepped back and covered his ears.

Professor Sprout quickly dealt with the seedling and walked out of the greenhouse wearing dragon-skin gloves.

"Jon?" Professor Sprout took off his earmuffs and shouted in surprise.

"It's mandrake, isn't it, Professor?" Jon said with a smile. "I just blocked my ears!"

"Very wise, otherwise you might have been unconscious for several hours." Professor Sprout smiled and gave him a thumbs up: "If it was during class, I would definitely give Hufflepuff extra points... What's the matter?"

"That... professor... is my pet. It seems to be a little unwell recently!" Jon said as he took out the glass cage containing the spider.

"Pet?" Professor Sprout shook his head. "I'm sorry... but I'm a teacher who studies herbs... For questions in this regard, you should ask Professor Kettleburn, the teacher of the Care of Magical Creatures class."

"But, Professor, I'm a first-year... We don't have Professor Kettleburn's course..." Jon stammered.

"So, you don't know Professor Kettleburn, right?" Professor Sprout patted Jon on the shoulder: "Come on, I'll take you to Silvanus now."

 …

Professor Pomona Sprout is arguably the kindest and best teacher at Hogwarts, especially to Hufflepuff students.

If it were any other teacher, there is no way they would take a first-year student on a personal trip just for such a small matter.

Following Professor Sprout's footsteps, he came to the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

There was no Hagrid's hut in sight, so it must be on the other side of the Forbidden Forest.

A thatched cottage sat just over here, and Professor Sprout raised her wand and knocked gently on the door.

"What's the matter?" An old voice came from inside the house.

"Silvanus, it's me... I have a student who needs your help!" Professor Sprout shouted.

"Pomona...Good morning, Pomona..." A white-haired old man limped out of the hut.

Jon suddenly realized why Hagrid would be the teacher of Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts in a year... Professor Kettleburn was indeed very old, with both his beard and hair turning gray; moreover, one of his hands and one of his feet were wooden prostheses.

"I have never seen you?" Professor Kettleburn looked Jon up and down. "Why do you look unfamiliar?"

"Professor, I'm a first-year Hufflepuff!" Jon replied quickly.

"A first-year student... Hufflepuff..." Professor Kettleburn's expression softened. "Once upon a time, I was also a first-year student of Hufflepuff... It has been more than eighty years now..."

"Silvanus, Jon's pet is having some problems and he needs your help!" Professor Sprout took the initiative to help Jon explain the purpose of his visit.

"Okay... that's no problem!" Professor Kettleburn's eyes moved to the glass cage that Jon was holding in his arms.

"Two spiders, very ordinary spiders, and you actually treat them as pets... I think you will become good friends with Hagrid..." Professor Kettleburn murmured.

"Be careful, Pomona, there's a Grindylow in the water tank behind you, don't let him get away!"

"And Mr. Hart, don't kick the teapot at your feet, there is a bird snake in it..."

"They are very healthy and have almost no problems!" Professor Kettleburn made a direct judgment.

"But why do they keep banging on the cages, hoping to escape... They've been like this since last night. They've never been so disobedient before." Jon had already organized his words and spoke calmly.

"This is indeed a problem..." Professor Kettleburn frowned. "Ordinary spiders are so excited. This is something I have never seen before!"

"Could it be... fear?" Jon asked quietly.

"Fear?" Professor Kettleburn bent down and looked more carefully: "It does look a bit like..."

"But it's impossible!" he said firmly.

"Why?" This time it was Professor Sprout who asked the question.

"There is only one extremely evil magical creature that can make spiders feel fear...but that evil creature has been extinct in Britain for almost 400 years, and the Ministry of Magic has strictly prohibited it from entering the British Isles, so it is impossible for it to appear around Hogwarts!" Professor Kettleburn said as he returned the cage to Jon.

"Maybe you didn't feed them enough, Mr. Hart... I'll prescribe some medicine for you, feed it to them and see!"

...

...

...

 Time passed quickly at Hogwarts.

As the weather gradually turned colder, October arrived... The damp chill seemed to permeate the entire castle, and colds began to spread among students and teachers.

Madam Pomfrey specially asked Professor Snape to prepare a stimulant. After taking this medicine, the whole head would feel like it was on fire, with steam puffing out of it; but the cold would also heal quickly.

Jon had been feeding two South African spider mites this medicine that Professor Kettleburn had given him.

They seemed to be in much better condition, although it was unclear whether it was due to the effect of the medicine or the fact that the basilisk had stopped its activities in Hogwarts during this period.

 …

In fact, after that first Sunday, Jon Hart rarely went out alone in the Hogwarts castle.

Every morning and evening, I would follow a group of Hufflepuff first-year students in and out of the common room.

No matter what, there is no way a basilisk could attack people in the castle in broad daylight, right? And there is no way it could get into the two barrels at the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, right?

...

...

He rarely went to the kitchen anymore, basically only once every one or two weeks... Fortunately, Klein and the other house-elves would eagerly stuff his pockets with snacks, more than enough to eat for a week.

The time spent practicing spells in the Room of Requirement was also greatly shortened. He would usually only go there at noon or when he had no classes.

The practice of the Eye Spell was going quite well, he could now easily shatter a dummy's eyes with one spell, but he didn't know how effective it would be in actual combat; he encountered considerable trouble with Occlumency, as it seemed there was no progress at all. Strictly speaking, he had no idea to what extent he had practiced Occlumency.

 Normal classes continue.

The Transfiguration class was still the same, and his performance was not outstanding; the best performer was Ginny Weasley, who could now transform a teapot into a mouse, and Professor McGonagall was full of praise for her.

Jon had been trying to avoid getting too close to Miss Weasley, who might have thought his name was John the Hat.

Colin Creevey had a good relationship with Miss Weasley, and they often whispered to each other during class; Jon couldn't help but mourn for the short Gryffindor boy in his heart.

His grades in Charms were similar to those in Transfiguration, in the upper middle range of the class; Professor Flitwick had recently been teaching them how to use the "Floating Charm", and it had taken Jon about a week to successfully perform it.

His performance in the Herbology class was quite good, and Professor Sprout was very impressed with him... However, first-year students could not really take practical courses yet. Professor Sprout only taught them how to distinguish between the wrinkled fig and the Aconitum, and introduced them to dangerous plants such as the Devil's Snare and the Mandrake.

Not to mention Potions class, in every class, the potions he and Astoria prepared were extremely successful, so much so that even a teacher as mean and biased as Snape couldn't help but praise him several times.

"You may be the only non-Slytherin student who has been praised by Professor Snape!" Gabrielle Truman, Hufflepuff's prefect, said to him excitedly after hearing the news.

"Definitely not...at least it's the second one..." Jon thought in his heart.

The Defense Against the Dark Arts class was still a farce, with Professor Lockhart asking students to read from his book one by one.

When it comes to the final part, he will invite a beautiful Ravenclaw girl named Melinda Bobin to perform with him.

Almost in the blink of an eye, October is gradually coming to an end.

Jon knew very well that the peaceful life at Hogwarts could not last much longer.

"The Forgetfulness Potion may be the most advanced potion you need to learn in your first year!" On the last day of October, in the Potions classroom, Professor Snape's cold voice spread to every corner of the classroom: "To be honest, I don't have any confidence that you can successfully configure it now, but I just hope you won't fail too stupidly!"

As he spoke, there was a loud bang and Madeleine Yaxley's cauldron exploded.

"Idiot!" Snape roared, waving his wand to sweep away the potion that had spilled on the ground.

"Didn't I remind you that you should add Hellebore first, and then the Feather of the Silent Bird? I don't know how you were assigned to my house!"

Ignoring the crying Magdalena, he turned his gaze to the first row.

Looking at the muddy mixture in Jon and Astoria's cauldron, he smiled contemptuously: "It seems that Mr. Hart and Miss Greengrass can't succeed every time!"

"No... Professor!" Astoria mustered up her courage and looked up and said, "We haven't added the licorice solution yet."

While she was speaking, Jon had already poured a small bottle of dark green liquid into the crucible... The crucible quickly underwent drastic changes, the muddy mixture began to dissolve bit by bit, and finally the entire pot was filled with only emerald green pure liquid.

"Well done... well..." Snape said dryly, then walked away.

Astoria quickly stood up and went to the last row to comfort Magdalena who was crying silently.

Jon quickly packed his things and rushed to the Room of Requirement before it got dark.

 …

Opening the thick, moldy volume of Advanced Potions, he felt that he was now capable of trying some of the potions in it.

And it is necessary to give it a try. After all, according to the original work, the three protagonists should go to the library to borrow this book in a few days, so I have to return this book in the next two days.

He turned to the page describing Polyjuice Potion: The illustration above shows several people who are transforming into other people, with expressions of extreme pain on their faces.

Lacewings, leeches, sap grass and two-ear grass...these materials are easy to get and can be found in students' lockers.

There was also the horn of a two-horned beast ground into powder, and fragments of the skin of an African boomslang...these two materials were beyond his reach.

However, I have already thought of a solution. I just need to find the school's owl and write a letter to the potion material shop in Diagon Alley to buy some... I hope the price is not too expensive.

But a dragon's liver is only worth seventeen Sickles. Could it be that snake skin is more expensive than a dragon's liver?

The sap grass must be collected on the day of the full moon, and the lacewings must be kept for twenty days...

As long as I'm lucky, I should be able to return to Southampton with the finished product of Polyjuice Potion before the Christmas holiday...
