Adam didn't send Bonnie away immediately, because he needed to find out, if he would feel pleasure for her and for the sake of the children.
"You suggested that as a joke, right? Adam asked, doubting her intelligence. If before she had seemed like someone with wisdom, now he saw her as a spoiled, shallow girl. "Because I'm not talking about eternity, I'm talking about security, to live to a ripe old age."
"If that person is right, you'll be doing Kate a favor. I don't want to get old. In my forties I'll make you kill me." She said seriously, but then smiled, showing her dimples. And changed the subject. "Let's go and look at the children. When will their parents be back to pick them up?"
Adam still stared at her as if he had caught someone who had escaped from the psychiatric hospital. Was she really making twenty-year plans for them?
"Tomorrow, in the late afternoon, the children will leave."
"I'll help you look after them. They must be hungry. I'm starving." She said and ran down the stairs and into the kitchen.
When Adam caught up with her, she was already preparing the sandwiches that had been left on the grill, and then cut up some apples.
They talked a lot, while looking after the children, and the hours passed quickly. Adam lost the impression that he was with an idiotic girl, and considered that she must be bipolar.
Bonnie bathed the children and put them to sleep in a double bed in one of the bedrooms, and went downstairs to keep Adam company, who was watching the movie she had recommended; Deadly Games. She sat down next to him and noticed that he was fascinated.
"It's my favorite movie. There's a sequel..."
Adam paused the movie and looked at her with his head cocked to one side for a few seconds.
"Is that the movie you get your torture ideas from?"
She wasn't surprised that he knew her activities. She was sure he would look for information about her, so she went to her uncle's to say goodbye and pick up her backpack.
"Some things have inspired me... But no. I can do better than that." She said, sounding menacing.
Adam laughed and took his break. That girl couldn't imagine being next to a werewolf and he almost felt like asking her to show him, in his own body, what she was capable of.
That night, he watched all the movies in the sequence. When he finished, he saw that it was three o'clock in the morning. Bonnie had fallen asleep on the sofa, so he turned off the television and went to his room. He was tired. Tonight, he would let her rest in peace.
...
The next day, when Adam went downstairs, thinking about how to ask one of the werewolves to prepare his breakfast, because he didn't know how to do it, without them realizing that he was living this humiliating drama, Bonnie already had breakfast on the table. There was cheese bread, juice, coffee, bacon and eggs, toast and cake. The children ate cookies and drank milk.
"Where did you get all this?" Adam asked satisfied, and sat down.
"I asked one of your men, who slept in Kate's room, to provide it for us."
"And he complied with your request, no questions asked? They don't like to obey orders that don't come from me."
"I don't think they do. But I didn't order them. I asked, please."
"You must be very persuasive... Or manipulative."
"I'm both. In my profession, both are necessary."
"Did you manipulate me into inviting you to see my reality? I know you didn't believe that a mafia boss could take care of the children of one of his men. I saw in your eyes that you thought I was just trying to impress you."
"I really didn't believe it. But, like you, I had a quick check with my uncle about your 'enterprise'. I just didn't know you were so rich. But I didn't have to manipulate you. I even think it was you who manipulated me with that needy look. And besides, no knowing woman would turn down an invitation from a tall, strong, blue-eyed billionaire. That's bad luck."
Adam stared at her, still in doubt, and began to eat quietly, while the children began to get restless. It wasn't long before Kate entered the dining room and approached the woman curiously. She had already had her coffee, as Caricatura had brought her a very romantic tray.
She sat down to observe. The woman didn't seem surprised by her arrival and looked at her amiably.
"Would you like some coffee?" Bonnie asked politely.
"No." Kate replied dryly.
"How kind of you... That leaves more for us." Bonnie said sarcastically.
"Who is this woman, Adam?" she asked, turning to Adam. "You usually put the garbage out at dawn." She said, ignoring Bonnie's words.
"This is Bonnie. I hope she's going to spend some time with us. Bonnie, this is Kate."
"Figures." Bonnie smiled. "The smell of sperm is very strong on you, you look like a toilet."
Kate stared at Bonnie for a long time.
"You're ridiculous, Adam." She said, turning to him with irony in her eyes. "She's a poor imitation of her." Kate said and walked away, certain that he would understand that she was talking about Anna.
Bonnie turned curiously to Adam.
"Who is she talking about?"
"It doesn't matter." Adam said and stood up. "It's a hot day. What do you say we take these catarrhers for a swim in the pool?"
"I'll get the kids ready, and I'll be right there."
Adam went to the pool area, where there was a bathroom with a shower, and several bathing suits. He changed and jumped into the pool.
He hadn't done that for a long time and felt refreshed.
Bonnie soon arrived in a bikini and the children in shorts. She picked up the oldest boy and threw him into the pool towards Adam.
"Teach him to swim." She shouted to Adam.
"I thought he knew how to swim. He was so keen to get in the pool yesterday..."
"I taught him a bit. Now it's your turn. I'll take the smaller boy."
And they spent the morning having fun in the water, and didn't see the hour go by.
Adam didn't know it could be so good and rewarding to look after a child.
The boy quickly learned to swim, and even helped look after his brother.
For the second time, Adam thought about the possibility of becoming a father. But he didn't want it to be with just any woman. He wanted it to be with Anna.
