The boy raised his right hand.
"Then I think he'll be more useful if you spare his life for now. But I know he can't go unpunished, or it would set an example for the others."
"And what do you suggest?" Adam asked delightedly, already excited again. "I told him we're werewolves. He can't go free from here, ever again."
"Cut off his left hand. It won't be needed when you need to wield a weapon, and he can be your receiver without worry, because he's only a child. And besides, he can take responsibility for illegal drug possession when his older receivers get caught."
Adam looked at the boy. This time he was terrified. He looked at his men and they were indifferent.
"Do as she says." Adam said loudly, to Bonnie or go, but in the minds of each of the werewolves, he kept his sentence and the boy was taken to the hill, where he dug his own grave and then was shot in the head, once he was inside it.
Adam left with Bonnie and took her to the bedroom and made her scream with pleasure that night.
...
After this event, he began to let her give her opinion on all the sentences, accepting all of them, but sometimes speaking his mind to the werewolves and softening others when he saw that her creativity was inhuman even for crimes that weren't very serious.
Adam liked her more and more. The cruelty that existed within her excited him and he knew it gave her pleasure too. However, he didn't allow his men to do what she had suggested against Kate, or even to touch Jenna before she ran away. So that she wouldn't be chasing Jenna, she let her travel to meet her husband in secret, because everyone had to believe that she had run away. And when she called him, there was no news. All she said was a summary of what the detective always told her.
...
Years passed and Adam was on his cell phone, but his eyes were fixed on Bonnie, who was swimming naked in her pool. As he listened, the detective told him that he was tired of Anna's routine and that he would recommend a friend who was also very competent.
Adam ended the conversation and went to the pool, where he undressed and got in naked. And right there, he consummated his need, oblivious to the eyes that might be watching them.
Kate stared at them from her office window. She didn't envy Bonnie, because she knew that Adam had chosen her as a temporary replacement. She was sure that he would look for Anna one day. On the other hand, she was happy with her life. Caricatura would sometimes invite her to an event and they would be seen as a couple. The other men only took part in her activities in bed when she asked Caricatura to allow it. Other than that, they didn't touch her and even started talking to her as a friend, and she was even invited to their parties. And as well as being happy with this situation, she no longer loved Adam as a man. She now saw him as her childhood friend and regretted everything she had done to him. She knew that even if he said it was all right, he would never trust her again, and she would always carry that memory with her.
She turned to the door when she heard a noise. It was Genevieve bringing in their favorite champagne on a tray.
Genevieve left the tray on the table and went to see what had taken Kate's attention. She smiled at the sight of the two young men having wild sex in the pool and turned to Kate, who almost felt pity now, and saw her pick up the bottle of champagne, pour herself a glass and sit down.
"Does that activity in the pool bother you?" Genevieve asked, as she sat down in an armchair opposite Kate.
"Not at all." She said and pointed to the bottle on the table. "Aren't you going to drink? I thought you were celebrating something and wanted to share it with me."
"Don't be pretentious, Kate. Unlike you, I choose my company for celebrations, and I'm not chosen. I brought it for you. I can hear you sighing from the living room."
Kate smiled debauchedly.
"Why did you come back? In fact, why are you here?"
Genevieve pointed three fingers at Kate.
"What does that mean?"
"Adam said that in three years, he would get Anna back, and three years have passed..."
"... And he doesn't forget a promise."
Genevieve crossed her legs seductively.
"I'll ask you again, Kate. Are you jealous of that woman in the pool with Adam?"
"It's not jealousy. It's concern. Just as I said before to Caricature, that woman is going to give Adam a headache when he wants to get rid of her in favor of Anna. And as you've just remembered, it won't be long before that happens."
"I heard him talking to Bonnie about it the other day. She said she just didn't want him to leave her. She asked him to stay with her sometimes, even if it was hidden. She knows the order is: Anna's in and she's out. Bonnie has no illusions about that."
"For all the evil you know she's capable of, do you really think she's going to leave like that? In a good way? After all, she's earned a position here. The men have gotten used to her and she to them. And besides... No woman accepts being changed, Genevieve. This girl isn't like me. She's had a little over two years to gather enough knowledge to kill Adam."
"I think she might even be thinking of doing something against Anna, but her father won't allow her to come back here without her own bodyguards. Henry is nervous and anxious. No one knows when Adam's mental clock will go off and we don't know how he intends to get the girl back. Anna is happy. I find it difficult to return her to this place."
"Adam is creative. He's probably already thought out the smallest details of how he's going to get her back."
