"I haven't seen Ryan since I got here, has something happened to him?"
"Ryan has given up on being Sigma and the pain doesn't let him think clearly. He turns into a werewolf and... Adam has put him in the green house until he can regain control of himself."
"Ryan in jail? Without a wife?"
"I didn't say he was without a wife."
Genevieve stared at Kate as if she couldn't believe her ears.
"Adam wouldn't send human..."
"Werewolf women don't accept that... Situation."
"But humans aren't capable of staying with a transformed werewolf!"
"I know. Welcome to the new reality. Every week we have burials on the farm's hill, and a new young woman, full of dreams and fantasies, entering the green house."
"That's... Odious."
"I know."
Genevieve took a deep breath. She couldn't interfere in that matter. Not yet.
"What about Sarah? Does she still wash the toilets?"
Kate smiled.
"Her hair has grown out and it's as long as she liked it before." Kate said, smiling more and enjoying the change of subject.
"Her punishment was too little. That time she nearly killed us all, I wished Adam would let Bonnie do something really cruel to her. After all, the children of Adam's men, who came to the house at his request, could have died. Some almost did..."
"I've always been curious about that... Why did Adam only allow his head to be shaved?"
"Because he wants to give it to Anna as a present."
"Anna is a docile girl, she won't do anything against Sarah."
"Don't be so sure, Kate. She has too much of her father in her heart."
Kate then fell silent and listened for a few minutes.
"Let's go to my room." She said, leaving her empty champagne glass on the table. "Adam's coming in with Bonnie, and I want to hear and see everything that's going on."
They went into the bedroom, where Kate took care to lock the door, and they both went to the computer desk. Caricature had set it up so that she could see everything that was going on in the office. Jenna was against it at first, because she thought Kate might be trying to gather evidence against Adam again, but she supported it when she realized that neither of them trusted Bonnie and that Kate just wanted to protect Adam from any attacks from her. And also, it was fun to snoop on the two of them. And as Kate predicted, the two of them went to the office and locked themselves in, believing that they were free from unwanted ears. Maybe Adam knew that the werewolves would listen if they wanted to, but Bonnie, he would never let her know beyond the fact that they were half man and half wolf. That was all she knew. She could never have imagined the gifts they possessed.
"So, now you can tell me." Bonnie said, as soon as he had locked the door and turned to her.
"I've talked about this with you before. You already knew this day would come."
"I don't see her here yet!" Bonnie retorted, crossing her arms.
"I'll go and get her."
"I'll go with you."
"I don't think that's a good idea."
"What's not a good idea is for you to pick up someone who, for over three years, hasn't bothered to look for you or find out how you're doing!"
"So you've been watching this in your mind for all these years to make me give up on picking you up? I'm sorry, Bonnie, but you're not going to convince me to take what belongs to me!"
"She probably hasn't finished her studies yet."
"It doesn't matter. My intuition tells me that my detective has been leading me on all this time, to stop me from going to get her. He succeeded. Until today. I sensed a certain remorse in his voice for taking my money and not telling the truth. It's obvious that her father found a way to buy this detective. His influence is too great."
Adam didn't want to tell the truth. That Henry had put up a woman who looked like Anna, and his detective had been following her all along. He hadn't heard from Anna.
"Then I'll go with you to make him pay for his disloyalty. And then we'll go back. Without Anna."
"No, Bonnie. I don't even care about that detective. I'll go, get her, come back and that's it."
"Fine. But I'm coming with you."
"What do you want to go for?"
"I want to be with you to console you when she refuses to come back. And besides, I like traveling."
"She might misunderstand your presence." Adam hadn't thought of that detail. When Anna found out that he had lived with another woman for almost two years, she would be furious. Or would she? Perhaps she didn't even remember him anymore and didn't care about his amorous adventures.
"Wrong?" Bonnie asked, and arched an eyebrow.
Adam looked at her thoughtfully. It would be good if he really did take Bonnie, to show Anna that he was giving up everything for her. With Bonnie there, he could prove that he didn't want any more lies between them. He would explain to her his reasons for staying with Bonnie and that he was willing to abandon her to get her back. That could be a positive point.
"All right, Bonnie. Get your bags ready. You're coming with me."
Bonnie smiled victoriously, not realizing that Adam only wanted her to be used to melt Anna's heart.
"When are we leaving?"
"In three days."
Kate and Genevieve looked at each other in surprise, and after the first moment, Genevieve hurried to the door, while Kate turned off the computer, still in shock.
"I need to warn you to..." Genevieve said and stopped at the open door and turned to Kate. "I can't warn them. I can feel Adam in my mind."
"Did he find out we were snooping?" Kate worried.
"No. I think he's in every werewolf's mind." She said and sighed. She said and sighed. "Now, it's only a matter of time before Anna is ripped away from happiness."
Kate stood up.
"Give me your cell phone." She said holding out her hand and Genevieve almost hugged her. Kate could warn Anna's father. She wasn't a werewolf. She pointed to the cell phone on the table where the champagne was and Kate went over to it, tapping on the screen.
"You're not supposed to investigate me!" Genevieve complained.
Suddenly, a gale blew past Genevieve, making her carefully combed hair flutter and Kate stared at her in awe, her hand still raised but empty.
Adam shook the phone, leaning against the window.
