Ryan's eyes darkened, his expression turning grim. "What the hell are you doing?!" He cussed, as he pushed his way into the room.
"Emily." He called out to me, his voice was as cold as ice. Was he so afraid of what he might do to her? I can't believe he stilll cared so much about her even after he signed the divorce papers.
This just proves he never felt anything for me. If he does, he wouldn't have attempted to sign the damn papers.
Zara's eye widened with fake panic as she turned her look away, tears welling up in her eyes.
This was all she's good at, constantly trying to stand out as the good girl when she's the devil. I can't believe I endured this shit for the past four years. Where was my sense? My streeze and demure? I can't believe I did everything for love but I never received love.
"I swear, Emily, I didn't do anything. You have it all wrong" she feigned even more, knowing he would side her.
Was I really out of my mind to confront her infront if Ryan?
I smirked, my tone icy.
"Stop pretending. I know it's you. Who else would send it to me, if not, you, Zara."
I walked up to her with a piercing gaze, pulled out the photo of Ryan I had printed from my phone, before coming over to the restaurant.
I slammed it down infront of them, watching each of their expressions.
Ryan stared at the photo, his face, a mix of shock and confusion, while Zara's face turned ghastly pale, making her more suspicious.
It was obvious who took the photo. Zara had tried to hurt me, but ended up hurting herself.
How was she going to maintain her innocent façade now? She's always done that, but this time, she looses.
In the past, I might have hesitated because if Ryan's presence, but not anymore, that's all In the past now.
I gave a faint smile, my voice frosty. "I came here to settle the score. You owe me, Zara." I paused, staring at their reaction, before I continued, " the person who destroys other people's marriages is a home wrecker. That's you. Now you have gotten what you wanted, I hope you enjoy your new role.
Even Ryan couldn't understand how I got the photo. He looked unsettled, his expression a blend of frustration and cold anger.
Seeing Zara's pale face, Ryan's face hardened, his eyes dark and frosty. If only I could tell what was running wild in his mind. It would be Zara, she's all he ever cared about.
Zara trembled trying to defend herself. "Ryan, Emily's mistaken. I didn't do anything. I didn't take the photo. She must have hired someone to set me up!" She lied in front of my face.
She got no shame, what was I expecting.
Ryan's brow furrowed as Zara cling to his arm, a drop of tears run down her cheeks.
"Ryan, I will apologize to Emily. If donating blood to me will cause any issues, I promise I will stay away from her. I swear on my deceased brother's name."
Hearing her swear on her deceased brother's name, Ryan's stern expression softened lightly, recalling her brother's dying wish.
"You must be mistaken! There's no way she would have done that. Why bring that up when you are supposed to donate blood?" He inquired changing the topic.
Zara, shook her head, her hands still gripping tightly to him.
"It's fine, I know she mistook everything" Ryan nodded and turned to me, I gave him a mocking smile, my face expressionless.
"You are divorcing me because of this?" He added, pointing to the picture I came with. "Fine, let's go to the blood part first, then talk about that later." He wanted to clear things up, but the situation was not right. I am not here to donate blood to anyone.
A photo wasn't enough prove that I was telling the truth. Zara's health was priority, as always. He once again believed her lies.
I noticed her sigh in relief, knowing she had escaped this time. Ryan had chosen her.
I lost again!
I had anticipated this outcome. Zara's acting was top notch. I would rather not expose her or get entangled further. Turning to the doctor calmly, I asked, "are you sure she needs a transfusion?"
The doctor hesitated, then seeing Zara's pale face and Ryan's intense gaze, hurriedly nodded. "Yes, Miss Zara fall caused significant blood loss. She needs a transfusion." He responded, but I wasn't suprised he would lie about it.
"Then let's get on with it" Ryan ordered coldly, with his gaze piercing into mine.
"Okay" the doctor responded awkwardly, heading off to prepare.
Zara shot me a triumphant smile from an unseen angle.
"Wait" I commanded, I won't let them have their way this time.
Instead of complaining as usual, I stepped foward and yanked off Zara's blanket with a fierce and commanding motion.
Ignoring her discomfort, I revealed her bandaged leg. Overriding her attempts to resist, she ripped off the bandage.
The room's atmosphere dropped into freezing.
I stared at the barely wound in her leg, my scorn deepening.
"So severe huh? There's hardly any blood. If I had come later. It might have healed by now…"
"Emily, you …. Ryan, it's not what it looks like. I recover quick from blood transfusions….." Zara , meeting Ryan's intense gaze, made her panicked and stammered.
"A month of injuries four or five times? It seems like you want to drain me dry" I said coldly.
"But you won't get that chance again, let Ryan find another fool to be your mobile blood bank.
With a final scornful laugh, I turned and walked out of the room.
Immediately I stepped my legs outside, I heaved a sigh of relief, and collapsed onto the chair in the corridor, feeling utterly defeated and abandoned. I can't believe four years just ended.
Overwhelmed with sorrow, tears streamed down my face. I mustered the strength to call someone, my voice chocked with exhaustion. It rang, and immediately the figure picked up.
"Hello! Please take me home!" I mumbled, proceeding to end the call.
