I sensed that there was something different about Emily. Definitely there was something off about her. She wasn't the Emily I once married. She acted so off at the hospital.
There's no way I was mistaken or overthinking things because she asked for a divorce? She was nothing to me from the start, but why am I even bothered?
I couldn't put my finger on what just happened. It was like things were spinning out of control. I had control over her for the last three years, and in a blink of an eye, she asked for a divorce because of something she clearly knew Zara would never do.
After four years of marriage, I thought I knew her very well. Before we got married, she was obsessive and clingy, but after we got married, she became submissive and obedient, a good wife. And today I was in the office when I saw a message popped into my phone, upon reaching out to it, I saw a message from her asking for a divorce.
"I don't think she is in her right state of mind, where will she go? She barely got a place to stay before I married her. And now, a divorce?
Lately, Emily has been donating blood too often. That was our agreement in exchange for money, that was what she had always wanted. Though I feel bad about it, but Emily has never said no, so I'm somewhat pleased and think I can make it up to her in other ways. I know she wants money, yes, that was her request. I just double the amount I have been paying her, to appreciate what she had been doing.
Regardless of her motives, Emily is a competent wife, but I am annoyed that she suddenly wants divorce. The big question on my mind has been why will she even think of requesting for a divorce?
Hasn't she thought that after the divorce, she will have to survive on her own? How do I convince her to keep donating blood to Zara when she seemed determined earlier today, and I already signed the papers?
'You can always get her back' my inner thought mumbled. But I doubt it will be possible with the way things turned out today.
Get divorced first, getting Zara her blood transfusion asap is what matters.
" I have to find out what her motive is. She can't just ask for a divorce over something she is aware Zara never did."
What she did at the hospital caught me off guard, I never expected it.
An insignificant photo can't prove anything. Zara's health is what matters, as for the photo, I will explain it to Emily later.
She insisted on getting a divorce, just for a photo, misunderstanding my relationship with Zara?
If so, I made it clear to her that I only see Zara as my sister. I repeated it countless times. She has always been my sister and nothing more, but she seems to be forgetting quickly.
Although I don't have much affection for her, but I am loyal to our marriage and relatively content. I don't go after other ladies, isn't that enough to prove someone set Zara up?
The sound of my phone got my attention, I turned to the couch, and grabbed it. Immediately my gaze landed on the screen, it was my mother calling.
"Hello mother…." I was cut off even before I greeted her.
"Where is that thing you call your wife?! Where the hell is she? And why isn't she picking my calls?" She sounded furious snd made me wondered if something had happened before she asked for a divorce.
"Mother, you have to calm down. What has she done this time?" There's always one complain or another about Emily.
"She has the audacity to end call on me. I asked her to come over the house and do her job, but guess what? She ended the call."
I sighed " Emily is nowhere to be found..."
"What do you mean by that? She's purposely ignoring my calls. I will make sure she pays for it." My mother can be hot atimes, she never gives you a chance to explain.
"I will be at the house later!" I responded and ended the call.
Living like this for the rest of my life is not a bad idea. Atleast since we got married, I have never thought about getting a divorce.
If she's not happy with my relationship with Zara, she should say it to my face. I can also keep my distance from Zara, as long as she still donates her blood to her.
After all, there's no irrevocable reason deadlock in this marriage, there's no reason why it cannot carry on.
I took out my phone to call her that instant. As I dialed her number, and place the phone to my ear, I anticipated for her to pick.
Instead, I was told her phone is switched off, I need to leave a voice message.
"She switched off her phone, knowing I would definitely call her. This is her games, I will make sure to play it well with her.
I proceeded to contact the bodyguard. Upon dialing the contact, he picked up in one ring.
"Have you been able to locate where she is?" I asked. She mustn't have gone far. Not when she has no where to go.
"I am sorry boss, we haven't been able to find your wife. The surveillance was suddenly hacked ten minutes ago, and we can't find out where she went?"
"What do you mean the surveillance was hacked? How is that even possible?" I queried in disbelief. There's no way someone must have hacked it.
"I am sorry, boss, but we made sure the entire hospital was searched. But we couldn't find her."
"Make sure you contact me when you find her!" I said, ending the call without waiting for his reply.
I thought about how she signed the divorce papers without hesitation, and I felt an indescribable emotion in my chest.
Where could she have gone to from the hospital? After I signed the papers, she didn't get a penny from me, so where could she have gone to?
Thinking about how she left so easily, the feeling of annoyance that had been lingering in my heart became even stronger, and it was killing me.
"I need to find her, they must bring her to me" I turned and walked out of the living room.
As soon as I grabbed my keys from the stool, I dashed out of the house, and headed to my car.
