I ran away

Agnes pov:

Running down the sloppy hill, checking behind to see if my father followed me. I finally managed to escape from that devilish house. Ever since my mother died, my father has been abusing me. He always blamed me for her death.

The day she died, she sent me on an errand. I was ten years old then. She had been sick for three years and I had taken over the house work. When I came back from the errand she sent me, I found her dead on the floor with a hole in her head. She was shot, I felt shivers running down my spine and was scared. I was just a ten year old child.

Not long after my father came back from church. He was a pastor in the church and he was very respected.

His first reaction was to fall to the ground and he started screaming. This attracted the attention of our neighbours and they came running in the house.

They took care of her burial since my father was still not in his right senses. A week after my mother's burial the abuse began. I didn't know what I did wrong, my mother's death wasn't my fault. I was heartbroken too.

I tried talking out but no one believed me. They will say" Pastor Bruce can never do that, maybe it was her mother's death that caused her to hallucinate"

The scars on my body can tell the story, I was gradually going depressed. My father had to send me to school unwillingly because our neighbours started complaining.

I had always been the best in school but my father never cared, he would say "can your nonsense result bring my wife back".

I had no one to talk to.

I eventually finished my college at the age of twenty with a first class in business management. I graduated today and finally decided to run away. You may be thinking "why now?" I should have left the place since, well I decided to get my degree first and get enough money for me to escape. I am not foolish, I grabbed my bags, picked and flew things then quietly left the town in the night.

I could only leave in the night because I didn't want anybody to see me and I knew my father would be in church today. I had to run down the sloppy hill because that was the only way I could pass to get a bus. And you may ask where was I going, do I have a destination? Yes I do.

I was going to the place my mother always told me of. I don't know what I would do when I get there but I will go there first.

I was probably not watching where I was going because I was constantly checking my back to see if my father followed me or someone saw me because I suddenly tripped, tumbled down the hill and the world went black.
