Agnes pov:
I woke up feeling refreshed and happy. I checked on lilly and refilled her water bowl. I sat down thinking on how I will eat today because I had no money but then I thought again, today will provide for itself. I was able to feed lilly from the yesterday's leftover because I could not let her stave.
After taking care of lilly, I swept the apartment and dusted the few furnitures I had. I went to take my bath after cleaning because I had to go to church.
I finished bathing and with a towel around my body, I went to pick the clothes I washed yesterday from the line.
I finally settled with a blue dress and wore the only shoe I had with it. I picked my Bible and left the apartment heading towards the church. I noticed that the food stall woman was not around, probably she was a Christian and had gone to church.
I got to church after a ten minute walk. I stood outside the door of the church nervously and was wondering what they will take of me.
Then I thought, if they looked at me with disgust I will just find another church to go,simple!
I entered the church and noticed that they not even paying attention to me. I was relieved, I found a chair to sit on at the back of the church and listened to the choir sing with joy in my heart.
I was in a choir before and I loved singing. I could also play a few instruments. The choir finished their ministration and the pastor came to the podium. After he finished preaching, he announced that food will be shared. I was happy since I had not eaten this morning. I requested for my food to be packed because lilly also had to eat.
After the church service, I saw the food stall woman outside. I greeted her" Good afternoon ma'am,sorry I don't know your name" I was feeling a little embarrassed.
She smiled and said " You can call me Tiana and what's your name beautiful damsel" I blushed because I didn't think I was beautiful
" my name is Agnes" I said.
"Okay dear, see you tomorrow" Tiana said with a smile which I returned. I happily skipped home at the thought of starting my first job tomorrow.
I ate the food that was given at the church and gave some to lilly. The day was still bright and I had nothing to do.
I had no phone,not that I needed one. So I decided to do some sightseeing,since I had not done one.
I wore my shoes, took the apartment key and went out. I decided to go the park I saw the day I came to the city.
The park had a few people and a pond. A family was having a picnic there and they looked very happy. It reminded me of how my family was when my mother was still alive. I sometimes remember my mother and will just feel sad at that moment. I actually had a goal and that is to become rich and powerful enough to catch the person that murdered my mother.
The day my mother died, the police from another town came to investigate. Yes another town , because we did not have a police in our town. When the police came they were unable to find any evidence and all the neighbours had an alibi.
I sighed, deciding to forget about it and went to the pond side. I noticed it had ducks in it and I saw a small bag of feed to feed them with. I after feeding them for a while I went back to the apartment because it was getting dark.
After doing my usual night routine, I went to bed on an empty stomach. I was turning, unable to sleep at the thought of starting my first job tomorrow. I was finally able to sleep around 1am.
