Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Betrayal Unleashed

A Storm Brewing – The Seeds of Chaos

The air backstage was thick with tension. Jaxon Cross had never felt more uncertain about his path. The alliance with Seth Rollins, a necessary partnership in the eyes of the WWE Universe, was starting to feel more like a trap. The earlier warnings from The Undertaker echoed in his mind—"The darkness always claims its due"—and it seemed that no matter what he did, the dark forces were closing in on him.

Jaxon could feel it. The WWE Universe had been buzzing with excitement since his unexpected partnership with Rollins, but something wasn't right. Edge and Randy Orton had been lurking in the background, and their intentions were as clear as day. They wanted to tear apart the very fabric of his alliance with Seth, and with every passing moment, Jaxon felt the walls closing in.

Seth, however, appeared as confident and calculating as ever. They had been victorious together, but Jaxon couldn't shake the feeling that Seth Rollins had his own agenda. The plan had been set: use Seth's strategic mind, rely on his experience, and take down the threats—Edge, Orton, and The Undertaker. But what if Seth was playing his own game? What if, in the end, Jaxon Cross was the one who would be sacrificed?

Edge and Orton – The First Strike

The week before the next big match was critical, and Edge and Randy Orton knew it. They had spent the last several days carefully planning their move. The truth was, they didn't just want to take down Jaxon Cross and Seth Rollins in the ring. They wanted to destroy them psychologically. They wanted to break their spirits, unravel their alliance, and create doubt where there had been none.

Edge had been watching Jaxon's every move, studying his mannerisms, his behavior, and most importantly, his vulnerabilities. He had seen it before—Rollins' manipulation was a thin veil, one that Jaxon hadn't yet pierced through. And Edge knew exactly how to exploit it.

"Jaxon thinks he's on top of the world," Edge said, his voice low and filled with venom. "But the truth is, he's a fool to trust Seth Rollins. Rollins has always been a snake in the grass. We need to make sure he knows exactly what kind of monster he's dealing with."

Randy Orton, as calculating as always, nodded. "We hit them where it hurts. Rollins will be the weak link. Cross may have the fire, but he doesn't have the foresight. We'll make sure that Seth turns on him before this is all over. And when it happens, Jaxon will fall faster than he ever thought possible."

They grinned, their plans already in motion.

Seth Rollins' Trickery – The First Glimpse of Doubt

As Jaxon Cross continued to prepare for his upcoming matches, he began to notice a subtle change in Seth Rollins' demeanor. It wasn't obvious at first, but there were moments when Seth seemed to act out of character—slightly distracted, a little more distant, a touch more manipulative than usual.

The turning point came during a routine training session, where the two had been practicing some tag team combinations. Jaxon was expecting Seth to be fully engaged, but instead, he noticed Seth's focus shifting to something—or someone—outside the ring.

"What's going on with you, Seth?" Jaxon asked, pausing his practice. He could feel the tension in the air. "You've been distracted lately. You sure you're all in on this partnership?"

Seth, for the briefest of moments, looked caught off guard, but then his trademark smirk returned. "Don't worry about it, Jaxon. Focus on the match, and I'll handle the rest. This isn't just about us right now, it's about surviving in this business. And I've learned that survival means being a few steps ahead. Trust me."

Jaxon didn't know what it was, but the answer didn't sit right with him. "You keep telling me to trust you, but trust is earned, not given, Seth. So you better start showing me something I can believe in."

Seth's expression tightened, but only for a moment. "You'll see, Jaxon. In time, you'll see exactly what I can do. Trust me."

That small crack in Seth's usual charm planted a seed of doubt in Jaxon's mind. Could Seth have been manipulating him all along? Was Jaxon nothing more than a pawn in a much larger game?

The Betrayal – Edge's Intervention

The next night on Monday Night Raw, everything came to a head. Edge and Orton had been waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and they found it when Seth Rollins and Jaxon Cross were set to face off against them in a tag-team match. The plan was simple: create chaos, force Seth and Jaxon to question their alliance, and give them a taste of what was to come.

As the match started, Edge and Orton immediately went to work, using their combined experience and ruthless tactics to dominate the early part of the bout. They were brutal, exploiting every weakness and turning the tide in their favor. But then, something unexpected happened.

Seth Rollins, who had been teaming up with Jaxon seamlessly in previous matches, suddenly stopped working in sync with him. In a moment of chaos, when Jaxon went for a clothesline on Edge, Seth yanked him back, causing Jaxon to crash to the mat instead. The crowd gasped as Rollins smirked, his eyes gleaming with an almost sadistic pleasure.

Jaxon pushed himself up, furious, but Seth stepped back, raising his hands in mock surrender. "Oops. My bad," he said, the tone in his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Didn't see you there."

Jaxon's fists clenched. He could feel the betrayal rising in his chest. "What the hell was that, Seth?" he shouted, his voice full of anger.

Before Seth could respond, Edge seized the opportunity, delivering a Spear to Jaxon that sent him crashing to the mat. Randy Orton quickly followed up with an RKO to Rollins, who had been too distracted to defend himself. The crowd was on their feet, roaring in shock as Edge and Orton stood tall over the two men they had just torn apart.

But it wasn't over.

Seth, realizing his mistake too late, scrambled to his feet—but the damage had already been done. Jaxon, seething with rage, stood up slowly, eyes locked on Seth. The betrayal was evident in his gaze. He didn't need to say anything. The look said it all.

Seth Rollins had just shattered the very thing that had kept Jaxon going—his trust.

The Fallout – A Reckoning in the Ring

The next week, Jaxon entered the arena with a single purpose: vengeance. The events of the previous night had shattered him, and now there was only one thing on his mind—payback.

Seth Rollins had turned his back on him, but Jaxon wasn't about to let it slide. The WWE Universe was eager to see what would happen next, and they weren't disappointed.

Seth was already in the ring, microphone in hand, when Jaxon's theme music hit. The crowd erupted as Jaxon marched down to the ring, his eyes locked on Rollins with fury.

As he entered the ring, Jaxon grabbed the mic. "You want to play games, Seth? Fine. Let's play. But I'm done trusting you. I don't need you to survive this business. If anything, you're just another obstacle in my way."

Seth grinned, his usual smirk back in place. "You really think you can take me on alone, Jaxon? You were nothing before me. You'll be nothing without me."

Jaxon took a step forward, lowering the mic. "We'll see about that."

With that, Jaxon Cross and Seth Rollins were set to face off in one of the most personal matches in WWE history. But who would come out on top? Would Jaxon get the revenge he so desperately sought, or was Seth Rollins truly the architect of his future?
