Cherreads

Chapter 14 - 16 durian

"Ah~" a scream pierced the sky, startling the birds in the forest and sending them scattering in every direction.

Ran Mouri's eyes snapped open, she clutched the quilt tightly, and her body trembled slightly.

"You, why are you here? What did you do to me?" Ran's voice held a mix of shyness and anger.

"Sister, have you forgotten what happened yesterday? I'm also a victim!" Lin Yu rubbed his waist gingerly. This girl was too intense last night. He couldn't help but think of the saying about tireless oxen and well-plowed fields.

Ran's eyes widened, she pointed towards the door and shouted at Lin Yu, her voice filled with anger, "You, get out of here! I don't want to see you right now!" As she spoke, she grabbed a pillow beside her and hurled it at Lin Yu.

Lin Yu looked at the furious Ran before him, knowing that she was deeply upset and that anything he said or did at this moment would likely only exacerbate her anger. He decided to leave the room temporarily and allow Ran to calm down on her own. He quickly stepped out of the room and closed the door gently behind him.

Lin Yu stood outside the door and sighed inwardly. He understood that Ran needed time to process what had just occurred and to quell her inner turmoil. All he could do was wait patiently until her emotions had settled, and then seek an opportunity to talk to her.

The moment Lin Yu closed the door, tears began to stream down Ran's face like an overflowing river. Tears fell onto the floor like scattered pearls.

Lin Yu stood quietly outside the house, his gaze fixed on Ran. He knew she was experiencing intense emotions, so he chose to wait silently, giving her the time and space she needed to regain her composure.

Minute after minute ticked by, and Lin Yu showed no sign of impatience. Finally, when Ran's emotions had gradually subsided and she had returned safely to the Mouri Detective Agency, a weight lifted from Lin Yu's heart.

He let out a sigh of relief, then slowly turned and left.

...

When Lin Yu returned home, he found Shiho Miyano sitting on the sofa in the living room, waiting for him. A hint of displeasure flickered in her eyes, as if she could see right through him.

"Tell me the truth, where did you go yesterday?" There was a sharp edge to Shiho's voice, making Lin Yu feel a pang of guilt.

Lin Yu took a deep breath. He knew that if he didn't provide Shiho with a clear explanation, she would likely continue to press him. So, he decided to be honest and recount the events of the previous night.

A few minutes later.

"Wife, that's how it happened. Honestly, I didn't want things to turn out that way!" Lin Yu explained helplessly.

"Haha, so you still feel wronged after all that?" Shiho Miyano sneered, a cold glint in her eyes. Her voice was so icy it seemed to chill the air.

Lin Yu's heart sank; he knew Shiho was truly angry. He started to offer a further explanation, but the words caught in his throat. He realized that anything he said now would likely be futile.

At that moment, Shiho Miyano suddenly produced a durian from behind her back and slammed it hard onto the floor. "Bang!"

"You'll be kneeling in front of me tonight!" Shiho Miyano pointed at the spiky fruit on the ground and said icily.

Lin Yu's face paled. He knew that tonight would likely be far from comfortable. But he still gritted his teeth and nodded. After all, he was indeed in the wrong and had caused Shiho a great deal of distress.
